Job details:

• Location: FLEX office, Vauxhall, London - Flexible hybrid working with a mixture of in person and home/office working.

About the role

The Director of Operations will serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and a key driver of our organisational strength. LUX is seeking an exceptional Deputy Director to help lead its next chapter. Borders Forest Trust (BFT) are recruiting for a new Chief Executive .

BFT is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, we have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

The charity’s previous Director has led the organisation for five years, and BFT are in a strong position, ready to develop a new organisational strategy and grow. This is a role of great strategic importance to the charity and the role is varied, with a broad remit.  

The Chief Executive role has organisational responsibility for 12 members of staff, some office based but most out and about across the countryside in which BFT works.  

As Chief Executive, you’ll bring proven senior leadership experience and the ability to get the best from staff and volunteers. A natural communicator, you’ll engage confidently with a wide range of people – from volunteers and donors to policymakers and conservation experts. 

You’ll have experience generating significant income in the not-for-profit sector, alongside strengths in strategic planning and programme development. The Debt Technical Supervisor is responsible for supporting Debt Advisers to ensure the delivery of accurate, effective, and tailored advice to over-indebted clients. This role involves conducting debt-advice interview observations, reviewing case files, and identifying training needs for advisers. The Debt Technical Supervisor provides real-time support and constructive feedback, helping advisers navigate complex cases and ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and information. Additionally, the role includes auditing delivery partner organisations to prepare them for external reviews and supporting them in meeting compliance and quality standards. The supervisor will collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to promote best practices, address risks, and contribute to the continuous professional development of advisers.

Your key responsibilities

• Provide effective administrative and logistical support for the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award.

• Support the planning and delivery of events, meetings, and online activities.

• Act as a first point of contact for member universities and stakeholders, handling enquiries and signposting appropriately.

• Coordinate programme communications, including newsletters, inbox management, and digital hub content.

• Maintain accurate records and support finance processes.

Key responsibilities would include:

• Preparation and submission of VAT and Corporation Tax returns
• Providing expert tax advice and design - Monitoring tax developments and advising teams and senior leaders on complex charity tax matters
• Maintaining and reviewing tax processes and systems

You will be a Chartered Tax Advisor or a qualified accountant with experience of partial exemption and reverse charge VAT and of providing tax advice in the charity sector.

What You’ll Do:
As our Head of Fundraising, you will play a vital role to help deliver the League’s vision of a kinder society where animals are no longer persecuted in the name of ‘sport’. Your responsibilities will include:

• Driving the development and delivery of the charity’s individual giving programme and all related activities, projects and materials (both offline and digital)
• Maintaining and growing income, ensuring income targets are met while expenditure runs within budget
