We are seeking an experienced and influential leader to join us as our new Chief Executive.  You will play a critical role in leading the organisation and representing PATA and its members in the ever-evolving Early Education and Children’s Play sectors.

PATA is the largest voluntary sector provider of support to the Early Years and Play (Out of School) sector in Gloucestershire.  We are a Charity based in Gloucester with around 170 member settings and manage five of our own Early Years settings (PATA Managed Groups (PMGs)).  Our mission is to support the development of high quality and accessible early education, play and provision for children, young people and their families.

At its heart, PATA is a people-based organisation and you will be joining a strong and committed team, both in the Head Office and the PMGs.  You will lead the organisation, working with the Board of Trustees in setting the strategic vision, mission and priorities.  You will be a voice for PATA and its members, building partnerships, participating in consultation processes, and challenging policy and other initiatives for the benefit of the sector, as and when appropriate.

The role is part time, 21 hours per week, 42 weeks annually, to be worked flexibly to meet business need, as agreed with the Chair of Trustees and in association with the Senior Management Team. There is flexibility for this to be a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days based from the Head Office in Gloucester.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. The services of the charity are delivered by an enthusiastic cohort of volunteers managed by an established and capable management team.

After steering Being There though the Pandemic and the recent economic impact on charities, our long serving CEO, Karen Mercer, is retiring. We are therefore looking to recruit a new leader for our team.

This is an exciting senior role for an environmentally committed leader to cover maternity leave. We are looking for someone who can take strategic oversight of our Green Space for Health programme and provide effective management of the project and its staff.

About the role

This is an exciting senior role for an environmentally committed leader to cover maternity leave. We are looking for someone who can take strategic oversight of our Green Space for Health programme and provide effective management of the project and its staff.

Our Green Space for Health programme helps to realise the value of green space for physical and mental health, both at healthcare sites and in the wider community. Our flagship project, the NHS Forest, promotes tree planting and woodland creation at NHS sites, supporting and encouraging sites to plant and maintain trees through offering free trees and advice. We support NHS sites to develop their greenspace for the benefits of patients, health staff and communities, while improving biodiversity and combatting climate change. We do this by encouraging green space enhancements such as meadow areas, vegetable growing, orchards and therapeutic gardens, as well as supporting the delivery of nature-based interventions for health.

The Green Space for Health Director will oversee the development of the NHS Forest and other Green Space for Health projects, delivering the programme strategy. This will include managing the Green Space for Health team, overseeing the delivery of our funded projects including budget management, coordinating reports to funders and trustees, and taking a strategic lead on the development and funding of the Green Space for Health programme in consultation with other stakeholders. The Green Space for Health Director will deliver our programme strategy through fulfilling the following responsibilities:

• Provide line management for the Green Space for Health Team’s 5 staff members. This will include one-to-one meetings, appraisals and regular team meetings.
• Oversee the delivery of the Green Space for Health funded projects, including NHS Forest tree planting projects and our Nature Recovery Ranger programme.
• Raise income for, monitor and oversee the programme budget in consultation with CSH’s fundraising and finance team.
• Coordinate reporting on the programme, including liaising with funders and producing reports for funders and for CSH’s board of trustees.
• Oversee the development and delivery of Green Space for Health training course, working with Green Space for Health staff and with administrative and strategic support from CSH’s education team.
• Work with the team to coordinate the NHS Forest Advisory Group.
• Build partnerships that will further the development of the programme and contribute to fundraising in line with the programme objectives.
• Act as a spokesperson for the programme, including making presentations, responding to media requests and participating in relevant national policy fora, including for the purposes of wider policy development.
• Be an active member of CSH’s senior management team, helping to develop CSH as an organisation, including strategy, employment and oversight.

 Maximise Giving

You will implement a philanthropic giving strategy that significantly shifts the museums approach towards the generation of substantial philanthropic income and that supports the Museum's vision and mission. You will work collaboratively with the Executive, Board of Trustees and senior leadership team to establish a long-term plan and supporting fundraising strategies that align and help the museum move forward with its objectives.

 Cultivate and Steward Donors

You will actively cultivate and steward relationships with potential and existing donors, for major new, repeat and legacy gifts, significantly raising the profile of Beamish, generating excitement and a desire to support Beamish now and into the future across a range of projects.  These will be supported by stewardship plans that foster mutual trust to secure ongoing support. 

Reputation and Engagement

You will build the profile of the Museum through donor engagement.  You will personally manage a portfolio of prospective donors, guiding them through the cultivation process, and ultimately securing new funding. You will work closely with the CEO building new networks, opening new doors and linking with communities in support of the museum's philanthropic goals and furthering its reputation and that of the sector.

Successful Philanthropy Team

You will ensure a high performing team is in place that supports Beamish’s Philanthropic strategy, imbuing a culture of innovation and enterprise across the museum. The team will ensure day to day delivery of the function, including to trusts and grants, provide excellent customer service, and produce timely data to support and measure the impact of all giving.  The team will champion equality, diversity and sustainability and creating a strong culture of philanthropy throughout Beamish.

• Significant experience working at a senior level, building strong relationships with supporters who can give at a six/seven figure level.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced operations manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who will help strengthen the foundations of our organisation, as well as help us expand our growing network of partner organisations across the UK. 

As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. Building on what has already been done, you will work directly with the CEO to help build the operational structure of Big Green Heart, and support its day-to-day operations. 

You will also facilitate the national deployment of Big Green Heart workshops across the UK, and will work with the CEO and trustees to implement the strategy needed to upscale the work of Big Green Heart.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You will develop and implement operational policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.

• You will monitor and evaluate the operational performance of the organisation, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

• You will manage the operational activity of our Big Green Heart experience days, supporting the CEO in the delivery of them. 

• You will work closely with our partner organisations who are using the Big Green Heart model, ensuring that the high standards and values of our teaching are maintained.

• You will also work with the Big Green Heart team to onboard new partner organisations. You will work with them to understand their needs and secure buy-in. 

• You will collaborate with the trustees, who also contribute to tasks linked with Big Green Heart's development. 

• You will manage the budgeting and financial planning processes, working closely with the Treasurer.

• You will be trained as a Big Green Heart facilitator with an expectation that you may be needed to facilitate a workshop during your time at the organisation.

• You will participate in professional and networking events related to Big Green Heart’s field of intervention.

• You will support staff members, trustees and volunteers, providing guidance and training in the operations of the charity as needed.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS

• At least two years experience in operations management, preferably within the charity sector. 

• A self motivated individual, capable of independent working.

• Ability to translate vision into a working practice. 

• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Familiarity with budgeting and financial management processes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

• Commitment to the mission and values of the Big Green Heart.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience of working in a start-up environment, supporting the operational needs of a fledgling organisation. 

• Familiarity with using KNACK database.

Motiv8 is a life changing youth charity, that was established in Portsmouth in 1998.  Today we have established venues based in the heart of our communities within Gosport, Havant and Portsmouth, where youn gpeople and families can gain support when needed.  We are committed to a long term community presence, building trusted relationships with out communities.  Our work is about reaching young people and families early to prevent problems from escalating.  It means recognising every individual is unique.  It means remaining focused locally and being a permanent presence in our communities, acting as the glue that binds services and people together.  It means building trusted relationships, offering person-centered approaches and helping young people to feel connected.  it means providing safe spaces and welcoming environments where support can be accessed.

Job summary

We are looking for a Chief Executive who can provide leadership, aligned with our valies and manage the organisation, working with the Trustee Board to provide vision and communicate a clear and inspiring strategic direction, implementing change as required.

The main purpose of this role is:

• To lead all staff and volunteers engaged by Motiv8 to successfully achieve objectives in line with Motiv8 valies in an inclusive way
• To develop the policy and strategy of Motiv8 in collaboration with the Board of Trustees
• To oversee and lead implementation of policies and strategy to deliver Motiv8 strategic aims now in the coming years
• To ensure that Motiv8 maintains and develops policies that reinforce inclusion and diversity in the workplace, that addrss all kinds of harrassment and protect minority and youth groups with whom Motiv8 works
• To represent Motiv8 on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to develop relations with our staff members, volunteers, partnership and stakeholder groups
• To further develop Motiv8 in line with the charity's objectives, to implement necessary change and ensure that Motiv8 exhibits ongoing relevance.
