Look Ahead are a housing association founded by Mary Jones, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary next year. They are a trusted partner of over 39 local authorities and health trusts across London and the South East, providing specialist support and care services for around 6000 people every year with a wide range of needs. Their aim is to help their customers make individual choices, achieve goals, and take control of their own lives by providing tailor-made support, care, and accommodation services.
The Financial Accountant plays a key role lead on all financial accounting activities for the organisation, including annual financial statements, the treasury strategy, and the various regulatory returns. The Finance department is entering a period of modernisation and change, and this role will evolve as new processes and systems are put in place over the next few years. As an important voice in the team, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation and to implement and embed changes as deemed necessary.
Main responsibilities of the role are:
- Lead the production of the annual financial statements for Look Ahead Care & Support and its subsidiaries.
- Manage the year end audit process for the organisation and subsidiaries, liaising with the external auditors.
- Manage a team of 3, providing regular one to ones and developing the team to meet the future needs of finance.
- Oversee and carry out audits of vulnerable customers money and ensure regulatory returns are completed as necessary.

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will:
- Possess excellent technical financial accounting skills, including VAT and other tax returns, liaising with external auditors and leading internal audits.
- Have a desire to move into a management role, ideally with some experience of supporting other team members, even if not in a formal line management setting.
- Bring a diverse knowledge of processes and procedures and be able to utilise this in driving improvements at Look Ahead.

The role will involve delivering operational change projects and providing strong direction to the team. You will have oversight of the statutory reporting for the main organisation, for four multi-million pound charities, their trading subsidiaries, three multi-employer pension schemes, a common investment fund and a number of other smaller entities. You will also lead the delivery of customer-focussed, efficient transaction processing and cash management services within a robust control environment

Head of Treasury and Tax | £75,000 - £85,000 | Permanent | London | Hybrid
For a global qualifications business, we are recruiting a Head of Treasury and Tax which is a leadership role managing all aspects of corporate treasury processes, controls, and analysis. The Head of Treasury will leave on cash management, investment activities, internal controls, risk management, loss prevention and some financial modelling. Reporting to the FD, this role will be the principal treasury and tax specialist and will also manage tax risk, compliance and advisory when opening new markets.
Main Duties:
- Work with the FD to support decision making considering banking and repatriation of funds and optimisation of tax structures
- Lead on optimisation of new and existing tax structures, risk, and compliance
- Develop treasury expertise across the finance team
- Proactively engage with stakeholders to ensure global cash flow forecasts are accurate
- Ensure treasury activities optimise the use of funds and ensure draw-downs are robust
- Identify and release trapped cash abroad; Design and implement an international banking structure which optimises cash flow and minimises KYC challenges
- Review existing tax structures to optimise them and improve compliance and risk when opening into new markets
- Manage, lead, and motivate a Treasury Assistant and Tax Assistant; Manage banking platform and processes

In this role, you will provide assurance on the completeness and accuracy of UK transactions, overall compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, and coordinate the UK external audit. You will manage the Finance Services team to maintain an effective and efficient UK Finance Operation in line with financial management policies and procedures.
You'll also:
* Provide the technical expertise on financial accounting issues relevant for the charity and its subsidiaries
* Coordinate the UK external audit and be the focal point of liaison with auditors including setting and monitoring the timetable and producing specific parts of the final accounts
* Support, review and develop the accounts payable function including the BACS payments, international payments, credit cards and payroll.
* Supervise and develop the treasury function
* Line manage 4 finance officers and support the apprenticeship scheme, including development and regular review of annual team objectives and skills required to meet them.
* Ensure the Trading company accounts are complete and accurate, and the deed of covenant is paid to the charity on time
* Support and review tasks associated with accounts receivable and ensuring that all income is recorded accurately in our systems
You will need to demonstrate successful experience of working in a busy accounts department, providing assurance on compliance with statutory financial requirements and tax regulations and developing and managing direct reports.
To be?successful, you'll need:
* Fully qualified professional (accounting/ tax/ audit qualifications)
* Strong knowledge of accounting and tax regulations applicable to UK charities, in particular the SORP, corporation tax and VAT relating to charities
* Experience of producing statutory accounts for a comparable organisation.
* Ability to work systematically and methodically, managing time effectively
* Working knowledge of external audit process
* Customer focus attitude and good relationship builder
