We are seeking an experienced Deputy Finance Director who will play a pivotal role in establishing a Finance Centre of Excellence - providing infrastructural and financial management support to Black and Minoritised community-led organisations in 8 London boroughs. The Centre of Excellence will focus on increasing groups’ financial literacy, confidence, skills, resilience and will include:
- Bespoke financial management capacity-building support, including compliance with statutory/funder requirements; and support with operational/strategic management and planning resources.
- Support will also include financial health checks, finance strategy development, risk.
- Identification and management, budgeting, statutory/funder compliance training, employer responsibilities training, governance training, budget for funding bids, and annual report.
- Devote significant time to outward-facing activities dedicated to supporting frontline Black and racialised grassroots community groups.
- Development of online learning tools and platforms to cascade the learning and providing 1-to-1 coaching sessions for Senior managers and Trustees.
The Deputy Finance Director will report to and work closely with the Chief Financial officer and will also contribute to Ubele’s overall financial strategy and supporting financial operations within our central hub.

5. Support the delivery of webinars/masterclasses to participants
6. Support developing effective online learning tools and platforms to cascade learning.
7. Support the delivery of a proactive finance service ‘Critical Friend’ providing financial advice, support, scrutiny, and challenge to the organisations.
8. Support groups to plan resources, assess the implications of service proposals, and provide financial modelling and analysis of service options for projects and initiatives.
9. Contribute to the provision of financial support across the Ubele hubs, in forecasting both in-year and future-year income and expenditure, ensuring these are accurate, appropriate, and supported through activity and performance analysis.
10. Support the Deputy Finance Director as required on a range of financial and management accounting, budgetary, reconciliation, reporting, and payment tasks where relevant, for the designated service area.
11.Support the Ubele senior leadership team and staff in the development and updating of the project organisational and annual budget to ensure that it supports the outcomes set out in our strategic plan.

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Financial Accountant will be involved with all financial accounting and treasury activities for the organisation which includes Look Ahead Care & Support and its subsidiaries. What you'll do:
Assist with the production of the management accountants and annual financial statements for Look Ahead Care & Support (LACS) and its 3 subsidiary companies.

Prepare the quarterly VAT return for Look Ahead and Look Ahead Developments.
Post all fixed asset journals, reconciling relevant balance sheet accounts monthly.
Prepare and post monthly journals and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for other general ledger accounts as required.
Ensure that Look Ahead's bank accounts are reconciled on a daily basis. Prepare and post daily journals for cash receipts, direct debits, and manual payments.
Assist with the preparation of payroll journals and the reconciliation of relevant payroll accounts e.g. payroll control, PAYE, pension, attachment of earnings etc.
Assist with the monthly payroll processing, including processing of overtime and payroll sample checking.
Assist with the administration of Look Ahead's pension scheme, including processing new joiners and leavers.
Assist the Financial Accountant with the development and day to day management of the SUN financial system across the whole finance team in order to achieve efficiencies and continuous improvement.

Oversight of accounting and cash management
Most of the detailed work in this section is undertaken by the direct reports with the oversight and management being provided by this Finance Manager role

Role Particulars -
Working Pattern: Full time working hours, including weekly in-person team meetings in London: monthly all-staff meetings on Tuesdays twice a month, and weekly on Tuesdays twice a month. The nature of this role means that some travel and working away from home will be required, as agreed in advance. We are an agile social enterprise looking for a qualified Finance Manager to manage and operate our existing finance function. The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.
The role
Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. About You
You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ your story through your presentation skills. Ivy Rock Partners are pleased to be working with an outstanding Multi Academy Trust to recruit a Financial Accountant to join their team, reporting to the Financial Controller on a 12 month fixed term contract.
They are looking for someone to work with the Audit Lead and the Financial Controller support the delivery of the Audit and ensure financial statements are prepared for both internal and external consumption.
This is a hybrid role working 3 days in their office based in East Croydon.
This role would be perfect for someone who is passionate about developing their skills in an excellent organisation.
Main responsibilities:
- Prepare balance sheet control accounts.
- Consolidate all grant income remittances for Government income.
- Prepare monthly income and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure bank reconciliations are completed.
- Provide support on reconciling Fixed assets registers for all schools and head office.
- Create audit packs for auditors and work on queries from the auditors
You will:
- Be fully qualified
- Be experienced in production of month end accounts.
- Have strong reconciliation and data analysis skills.
- Experienced in preparing month end journals, including departmental recharges
- Have strong excel skills and experience of using a variety of software packages to generate reports
- Have excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Have a professional "cando" attitude and work ethic
- Have excellent time management skills
Experience of the education sector is desirable but not essential.

Ambitious for the future and conscious that there are just 1,069 mountain gorillas left in the world, this new role will add significant capacity to the existing team, helping us to deliver on our annual business plan, driving our income generating activities, monitoring our performance and impact, delivering value to our donors, stakeholders, and the communities we serve, and overseeing day-to-day operations.
All of which will require an individual passionate about Africa and the plight of gorillas, who is inspired by our approach to protecting gorillas and their natural habitat through community involvement and who comes to the role with a proven track record of success in fundraising, good financial acumen, excellent engagement, presentation, and people skills, and the ability to manage our day-to-day operations.

A bit about the role:
As a Finance Analyst – Capital Accounting, you will provide accounting support on all areas related to fixed assets and grants, report fixed assets numbers working both in the consolidation and the subsidiary accounts and support the audit process liaising with external auditors. You will be part of the team responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of Fixed Asset accounting records.
Some of the key results for the role include:
- To ensure that accurate and timely financial information are produced on a monthly basis.
- To undertake the month end and year end processes.
- Assist with the yearly budgeting and quarterly forecasting process.
- Facilitate the completion of audit queries for the relevant directorates.
- Preparation and posting of monthly journals.
- Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare notes to the accounts.
- Produce informative and insightful reporting.
- Provide support for ad hoc queries and signposting stakeholders to relevant teams across finance.
A minimum of 1 to 2 days working in the Westminster Bridge Road office is required. This role is initially a 6 month fixed term contract.

Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA/ACCA) (essential)
Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience as an accountant (essential)
- At least 3 years’ senior leadership experience (essential)
- At least 3 years’ experience managing a staff team (essential)
- At least 3 years’ experience in registered charity OR health and social care (essential)
- At least 2 years’ experience of working at Board level (desirable)
- Significant experience of both accounting and financial management environment.
