Job description

Aims of the role

Wycliffe is looking for a Financial Accountant to strengthen our dedicated finance team of six people. This new position has been created to increase the team’s capacity to support Wycliffe’s growth, and to assist the Director of Finance & Operations in developing new systems and processes for the future.

The finance team manages all financial transactions within Wycliffe by processing transactions, providing reports and statements, and responding to enquiries about gifts, expenditure, and funds for overseas projects. The role requires a proactive and positive approach, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and accuracy while being able to meet deadlines. The successful applicant will work alongside the Finance Manager, and will report directly to the Director of Finance & Operations.

Key Tasks

The Financial Accountant will:

  • Develop and produce monthly management reports
  • Assist with organisational budgeting and forecasting
  • Manage month end and year end processes including reconciliations
  • Have responsibility for all capital expenditure including budgets and , maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and other reporting requirements
  • Monitor performance of finance systems
  • Work closely with the team to promote efficient system usage and process automation
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to develop new processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance systems
  • Deputise for the Director of Finance & Operations
  •  Actively participate in team meetings, office prayer meetings, and wider staff meetings as appropriate.

Person Specification

This role requires someone motivated by their Christian faith with a deep personal concern for world mission to serve in this unique role with Wycliffe.

Essential

  • CCAB qualified or equivalent
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years working in a finance context
  • Able to work accurately and efficiently
  • IT literate, proficient in the use Excel
  • Self-starter, able to use own initiative and work independently, but also as part of a diverse team
  • High degree of personal organisation and self-management, with the ability to prioritise, multitask and work to deadlines
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Experience working in the charity sector
  • Experience of improving/developing finance systems and processes
  • Experience with CRM systems.
