We’re looking for a new Finance Officer to join our small finance team. You'll ensure that all transactions are input into our accounting software Xero, process invoices and expenses, perform bank reconciliations, and be the first point of contact for all financial queries. As part of the Support Team you will also ensure the smooth running of our office.

We’re looking for someone with strong numeracy skills and attention to detail. Your knowledge of Excel sets you apart and experience of financial software is a must.

We are looking for a skilled, dynamic and conscientious individual to lead on our financial and administrative needs, and work with us to grow our organisation.

You will be one of four core staff roles in the organisation. After the first year there may be space for role to develop and expand.

You will lead on financial management, working closely with Directors to develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy.

The role will also feature core administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth running of the organisation across contracting, insurance, monitoring equipment/assets and saving costs.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Strategy and Management

• Co-creating and monitoring budgets, org-wide and for projects

• Monitoring multiple income streams inc. sales, grants, investments

• Co-designing core/project accounting ledgers to facilitate reporting and monitor metrics

• Streamlining and automating systems, training staff in how to use them

• Support the process of becoming a C.I.O. and adapting finance and reporting systems for new level of requirements

Reporting

• Reporting to HMRC, Companies House and the Charity Commission

• Liaising with our accountant to get the best systems in place for ease and accuracy of reporting and accounting

• Reporting to multiple funders with different priorities and expense restrictions

• Creating an automated financial reporting system that tracks costs across core, projects, and different funding streams for each

• Overseeing compliance with HMRC including VAT, PAYE and accessing tax benefits such as Theatre Tax Relief (TTR) alongside our accountant.

Administration

• Compiling and digitising receipts and invoices

• Setting up staff and project producer expense accounts where necessary

• Liaising with banking and ensuring staff access to online and card payment

• Creating and using new reference administrative reference systems and filing systems.

Human Resources

• Communicating with our community members, artists and staff about invoicing requirements and payment details, mindful of individuals’ complex needs

• Overseeing setup and budgeting of employment benefits, bonuses, commission, freelance contracts and how to integrate these

• Overseeing creation of a platform for communicating financials transparently to our community of marginalised artists (longer term)

Funding Support

• Note: this is a support role as one of the Artistic Directors will spearhead new funding applications, you will not be applying independently

• Researching and identifying new funding streams, archiving applications, making templates

• Seeking advice from current funders and NGO partners about where to apply

• Tracking funding applications, reporting deadlines, meeting financial requirements

• Following-up on investors, scheduling regular communications with Artistic Directors.
   

Essential skills and requirements

• Proficiency with Mac and Windows 

• Right to work in the UK

• Three years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in the charity, arts, or activism sector

• Strong ICT skills including relevant accounting/reporting software and G-Suite

• An excellent eye for detail and consistency

• Experience of payroll processes

• Experience of reporting to funders and HMRC

• Autonomy and ability to work effectively under own initiative

• Strong verbal communications skills, able to convey financial information to a non-financial audience

Reporting to the Director of Finance and operations, this role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health. For a global NGO, we're recruiting a Project Finance Officer. Reporting to the Project Finance Manager, this role will run efficient programme financial accounting, financial management and financial reporting processes for donor funded programmes and grants. This role will support the full life cycle of grants, from donor proposal to final reporting and will work closely with Finance and Programme teams as well as in-country staff, partner agencies and external Donors.

• Financial planning, and financial management for grant funded programmes

About Pancreatic Cancer Action:

Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. We are a small, creative and passionate team committed to improving early diagnosis and saving lives. In August 2020, Pancreatic Cancer Action merged with Pancreatic Cancer Scotland making our team stronger than ever. 

Pancreatic cancer has only a 7% survival rate and this figure has not improved significantly for over 50 years. Despite it being the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall research funding. 

With a strong focus on early diagnosis, it is Pancreatic Cancer Action’s aim to improve survival rates through raising awareness, medical education, improved patient information and by funding research specifically into the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Simply put, we want more people diagnosed in time for surgery, currently the only potential for a cure.

Main responsibilities:  

• Develop and grow the annual programme of fundraising events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.
• Grow and steward a pipeline of new and existing community and events audiences and fundraising opportunities with a particular focus on England. Ensuring to always maintain the highest quality supporter journey.
• Manage the delivery of the virtual challenge events. Add insight and support the annual Pancreatic Awareness Month Campaign and help to further develop Pyjama’s for Pan Can to new audiences.
• As a senior member of the Income Generation Team you will contribute to robust financial planning, management and reporting of income and expenditure in your own areas of expertise.
• Responsible for the delivery and recruitment into PCA’s Challenge Events programme making sure participants receive exceptional supporter care.
• Develop compelling and engaging third party fundraising materials to inspire supporters to reach their maximum fundraising targets.

Income and targets

• Help to grow Pancreatic Cancer Action’s income from community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Develop ongoing stewardship journey for Community/DIY Fundraisers and increase average gift though exceptional supporter care.

• Oversee all aspects of programme planning development and evaluation

• Ensure that all programme components are strategically coordinated and contribute to overall organisational objectives

• Oversee further development of a communications strategy that positions HRI effectively, protects its reputation, and identifies opportunities to promote its key messages and activities

• Recruit and manage staff, and ensure appropriate organisational structures with clear roles and responsibilities 

• Ensure regular performance evaluations, feedback loops, and training and professional development and education for all staff

• Manage administrative matters relating to staff, including legal and health and safety requirements, and required policies and processes 

• Oversee risk management and legal activities: letters of agreement, contracts, leases and other legal documents and agreements

• Implement appropriate policies, including internal controls and accounting standards and procedures

We are working in partnership with a charity which offers free and confidential information, advice, counselling, support and advocacy for children and young people under 26 in Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth whose mission is to empower young people to reach their full potential.

The charity is now seeking to appoint a Head of Finance who will have oversight of the finance team and will lead on strategic and operational financial management of the charity and preparing and analysing information. 

This is an exciting opportunity to build on the charity’s existing successes, developing strength and sustainability to underpin services that benefit thousands of children and young people each year.

The successful applicant will be a qualified Accountant (CIMA / CIPFA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent), consideration may be given to a part-qualified candidate with substantial relevant experience and possessing a desire to consider continuing towards full-qualification. 

You will demonstrate:

• Experience and understanding of financial processes including budget management, forecasting, day-to-day income and expenditure processes, monthly reporting, and year end audit processes
• Up-to-date knowledge of Charity regulations and relevant legislation and legal requirements
• Successful track record in working with a Trustee Board or other executive boards
• Ability to prioritise and organise own work, and that of others, to meet deadlines
• Experience of costing services/projects and producing comprehensive budgets

The successful individual will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and will make an active contribution to the strategic direction, planning and leadership of the charity in collaboration with the wider team.  You will have high level of IT competency to support this role, including the use of Microsoft Office, and excellent communication skills with a commitment to personal growth and development.  You will be a role model for the values of the Charity and ensure the needs of children and young people are at the heart of everything you do.

There may be opportunity to provide leadership oversight to other organisational infrastructure functions including IT, Business Support, Fundraising and Communications, depending on the candidate.

MLC Partners are supporting a Central London based organisation within the Higher Education sector, to recruit a Finance Transformation Programme Officer on a 12-month fixed term contract. We are seeking an experienced Project Officer with a strong financial background to coordinate and deliver on various projects, contributing to the improvement and transformation of the Finance department.

This full-time position commences immediately, with hybrid working in Central London.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working closely with senior management to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes and budgets for projects
• To perform various coordinating tasks (scheduling and risk management), along with administrative duties, maintaining project documentation and handling financial queries
• Help prepare budgets, analyse risks and opportunities
• Support the creation and delivery of processes, policies, and procedures
• Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget and meet high quality standards
• Provide general administrative support to the Director of Finance as requested

Key skillset criteria:

• An understanding of financial principles, including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting
• Proven experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation, dashboard, plans, and reports
• An ability to prioritise workload and deadlines, collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial insights effectively
• Prince2 certification is highly desirable
• QBE/PQ/Q is highly desirable
