Sydenham Garden is seeking a Community Activities & Volunteering Lead on a Fixed term contract to end of December 2027 to join our team of 14 staff and approximately 70 volunteers in delivering adult mental health and dementia services in our beautiful garden settings in south-east London.
Position: Community Activities & Volunteering Lead
Contract: Fixed term to 31st December 2027, full time - 37.5 hours per week. Some regular working outside Monday-Friday 9-5 may be required, for which TOIL will be available. Part time and flexible working applications also considered.
Salary: £32,644 plus 6% pension contribution.

About the role
Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a unique wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give to our primary beneficiaries). With funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to help us ‘grow our community’ and increase the sustainability of our impact we’re seeking a Community Activities & Volunteering Lead to drive continuous improvement and development of volunteer-led community activities for the benefit of co-workers as well as managing the day to day running of our volunteer programme.
About you
You’ll have experience of recruiting, working with, and managing volunteers, including delivery of skill-building and development activities for volunteers with Lived Experience of mental and/or physical ill health. You’ll have excellent people skills and the ability to demonstrate sensitivity, kindness, and a person-centred understanding of different mental, physical, and neurological needs. You’ll have experience of delivering group activities and working with people with mental/physical-ill health and/or dementia. You’ll have line management experience and be able to provide strategic direction as well as be able to innovate and develop new initiatives and balance competing priorities while being willing to play a team role and get stuck into different activities.

About African Rainbow Family
African Rainbow Family (ARF) is a UK-based, lived-experience-led grassroots organisation working with and for LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum of African heritage and the Global Majority.
ARF was founded in 2014 in response to the criminalisation and persecution of LGBTIQ+ people across parts of Africa and the Commonwealth. About the Role
The Operations Manager role is a new and senior position within African Rainbow Family and will play a key role in supporting the organisation’s strategic and operational development.
The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the organisation, managing staff and volunteers, ensuring effective service delivery and leading on income generation and funding applications.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management

Main Responsibilities
We are looking for highly motivated and organised individual to coordinate our accreditation scheme. The role will work with our network of employers, and support new organisations through the accreditation process.
The Programme Officer will lead our work in Yorkshire and Humber support our Managers to grow and deepen engagement with Living Wage Employers through our associated schemes. You will help to ensure our resources and publicity materials are well written and up-to-date, and to coordinate events to grow our employer network.
Working as the Programme Officer for Citizens UK, reporting to a Programme Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

The focus of the Senior Fundraising Manager role will be to deliver and run the successful fundraising appeals and draws function, delivering against targets of c. £1.25m for 2025/26. Managing a small appeals team within the wider membership function, you will grow our income and innovation in this space, ensuring fundraising best practice principles are adhered to.
Our ideal candidate will be results driven, with an open, curious, intelligent approach to analysis and reporting. You will be able to work successfully in partnership with other teams and departments as well as influence key stakeholders across the organisation. You will be able to lead and develop a small team, exercise diplomacy and discretion and contribute to the wider fundraising conversation and pipeline.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Substantial professional experience of the project management of appeals and campaigns fundraising gained within a charity or other fundraising organisation including their planning, development, running and evaluation
- Experience of running fundraising appeals or campaigns across a range of channels and running lotteries or draws for fundraising
- Outstanding written communication skills, including the ability to tailor communications for different audiences and media whilst maintaining consistent tone and messaging

An understanding and knowledge of the art forms is not essential but the ability to learn and communicate effectively and persuasively about opera, ballet, music and dance to supporters is critical for this role.

About Friends of Ibba Girls School (FIGS)
Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS), is a registered UK Charity (114620) set up in 2011, at the request of local community leaders to help build and develop a girls’ boarding school in South Sudan. Ibba Girls Boarding School now educates over 320 primary and secondary school girls from across Western Equatoria State and employs around 40 staff.
The school provides high-quality education in a context where most girls leave school before completing primary education and very few reach secondary level. FIGS is a relatively small UK-based charity with a strong national reputation and a substantial impact, demonstrating what high-quality girls’ education can achieve in South Sudan. FIGS works closely with Windle Trust International, which provides technical, financial and organisational support to the school in South Sudan.
FIGS raises approximately £500,000 each year to meet the running and development costs of IGBS and FIGS. Fundraising and effective communications are therefore central to our mission. We are a small team and are looking for someone who will thrive in a varied role, is proactive, organised, and capable of handling multiple demands, with a readiness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
The Role
This role involves supporting both fundraising and communications activities, alongside essential administrative functions. The Fundraising and Communications Officer will play a key role in implementing FIGS’ fundraising and communications plans, supporting donor engagement, campaigns, events, and day-to-day operational administration. You will be working closely with our Head of Fundraising and Communications, ensuring that FIGS has the resources to continue to support the education and boarding of over 320 marginalised girls in South Sudan.
The role is home-based but requires the ability and willingness to travel to fundraising and supporter events across the UK, including occasional evenings and weekends.
FIGS is a trustee-led charity, with an active and engaged Board that plays a hands-on role in governance, strategy, fundraising and ambassadorial work. Trustees bring a wide range of experience, including diplomacy, international development, education, finance and communications, and work closely with staff to ensure the charity is well-run, accountable and effective.
While Trustees retain strategic oversight and are closely involved in key decisions, FIGS also has a small paid staff team responsible for day-to-day operations, fundraising delivery and communications. The culture is collaborative and supportive, with regular interaction between Trustees and staff, and a shared commitment to the success of Ibba Girls Boarding School.

This 12-month position—open to both employees and consultants—will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive income generation strategy across our three social businesses: our women’s-only gym and studio, our community café, and our meeting room hire service.
Working closely with the leadership team, the postholder will identify new income opportunities, enhance the visibility and market reach of our social enterprises, and ensure that all business activity aligns with our mission to improve women’s health and wellbeing.
This role is both strategic and hands-on—ideal for a results-driven professional who combines commercial acumen with a deep commitment to social purpose. By driving growth in our social businesses and expanding our audience reach, the Head of Income Generation will directly contribute to closing our organisational deficit by 2029 and amplifying our social impact

Our women-only gym provides a safe and empowering environment for over 600 women to move, learn, and thrive. Led by trauma-informed trainers with expertise in women’s health, it offers 29 weekly classes that prioritise confidence, joy, and holistic wellbeing rather than weight loss. The gym embodies our commitment to preventative health and creates an inclusive community where women of all ages and backgrounds can focus on their strength, resilience, and self-care. As a cornerstone of our trading model, it sustains our mission while directly advancing it.
The gym has seen significant growth in both membership and the breadth of its offer, establishing itself as a trusted and empowering space for women’s health and wellbeing. With excellent member retention rates and a strong reputation for inclusivity, safety, and quality, the gym is now well positioned for its next stage of development. We see substantial potential to expand its reach, increase profitability, and deepen its social impact by engaging more women from our local and wider communities. A key focus will be on leveraging our existing member community to support peer recruitment and referral, strengthening the sense of belonging while driving sustainable growth. The Café – Nourishing Food, Nurturing Community
Our café is the social heart of The Bridge — a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive space where everyone can connect, share, and feel at home. Serving seasonal, plant-based meals prepared in-house, the café champions women-led enterprises and affordable, healthy food. It hosts many of our wellbeing and creative programmes, and through initiatives like the Pay-What-You-Can Supper Club, supports emerging women chefs and builds everyday acts of care and solidarity. The café has the opportunity to not only advances our mission of improving women’s health and wellbeing but also generates vital trading income and partnership opportunities.
While it currently operates at a deficit, it plays a vital role in advancing our wellbeing and community objectives. We are now focused on realising its full commercial potential. A feasibility study is underway to explore a range of operational and business models that will transition the café into a sustainable, profit-making enterprise. Plans include expanding income-generating opportunities through hosting more events, developing an external catering offer, and maximising use of the space for private hire and functions during weekends. This work will ensure the café continues to embody our values while contributing significantly to the financial sustainability of The Bridge
Room Hire – Spaces that Enable Collaboration and Impact
Our professional meeting and event spaces are used by charities, community groups, and corporate partners for workshops, training, and strategic planning. With over 500 bookings a year and a 89% return rate, these rooms are known for their quality, warmth, and service. The income they generate supports our wider mission, while also acting as a catalyst for new partnerships and collaborations.
We now aim to build on this success by increasing utilisation on our most popular days (Tuesday to Thursday) and attracting new clients to fill capacity on Mondays, Fridays, evenings, and weekends. Plans include developing loyalty packages for regular clients and introducing new offers such as team wellbeing days that align with our health and wellbeing ethos. This approach will not only maximise income potential but also strengthen The Bridge’s role as a space where organisations connect, collaborate, and thrive.
Key responsibilities:
1. Income Generation Strategy
· Develop and implement a comprehensive income generation strategy for our social businesses (women’s-only gym and studio, café, and meeting room hire).
· Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities while aligning with the organisation’s mission and values.
· Monitor financial performance and make recommendations to meet growth and sustainability targets.
· Monitor return on investment of additional marketing spend
· Budget setting and management of cafe, gym and marketing budgets
· Support the development of medium-term (3-5 year) income generation roadmap to support sustainability, recommending organisational changes and scalable models beyond the 12 months.
2. Business Development and Partnerships
· Together with the CEO, build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organisations, and stakeholders to drive collaboration and income growth.
· Explore new partnership opportunities that enhance both revenue and social impact.
5. Line and Task Management
· Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management for 1 or 2 managers
· Task manage the Head of Operations, who oversees room hire services, ensuring alignment with income generation and marketing priorities.
6. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
· Set measurable targets for income generation and and track progress regularly.
· Implement a CRM and/or data-dashboard system to track customer/member acquisition, retention, income per stream, marketing campaign performance, and present monthly/quarterly reports to CEO and Board.
· Report to the leadership team on performance, insights, and opportunities for improvement.

Person Specification
Qualifications
· Relevant degree or professional qualification in business, social enterprise, or a related field.
· Professional development in leadership or business management is desirable.
Experience
· Proven experience of running or scaling a trading/social enterprise business (profit and loss accountability, membership acquisition/retention, pricing strategy, customer marketing). Ideally, specifically in at least one of the key areas of the business.
· Demonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple business streams or revenue-generating projects.
· Demonstrable ability to build, develop and lead a multi-disciplinary team (across café, gym, marketing/social media) and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
· Experience in developing partnerships and networks with other businesses and organisation that generate revenue and social impact.

The Philanthropy Manager will develop a philanthropy strategy, building on the partnerships and resources already in place. You will develop a pipeline backed up by robust prospect research (some administrative assistance will be provided), and instigate a cultivation and stewardship programme, typically adopting a staged approach to major asks.
You will be accountable for the acquisition, development, and stewardship of high value supporters for CUF, both individual philanthropists and non-statutory grant-making bodies. You will develop and strengthen relationships with existing donors, as well as identifying warm prospects currently not supporting CUF financially. A key part of your role will be meeting and engaging major donor prospects to grow the pool.
You will engage with Trustees and senior leaders, to identify and nurture Christian philanthropists and grant body decision-makers within their spheres of influence.
You will lead on developing cases for support and writing grant applications, helped by the wider staff team.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with high levels of motivation, and the ability to both develop and operationalise strategy as a member of a small team. You will have a track record of successfully initiating, managing and developing relationships with High-Net-Worth individuals and grantmaking bodies, and securing donations and grants, via proposals or through face-to-face meetings, as required.

As our CRM Process Change Analyst, you will lead process change and impact analysis for operational system updates aligned to the “to-be” specifications, as well as support the transfer of these changes to users. You will translate operational procedures to support requirements gathering for the functional design, acting as a key intermediary between CRM Leads and the Business Analyst. You will also contribute to gap analysis activities and work closely with Process Owners and their teams to support knowledge transfer and process handovers through coaching, awareness, and clear documentation, ensuring operational system changes are effectively embedded.
The role involves producing high quality operational system process and procedure documentation in collaboration with CRM Leads, using their guidance to shape clear and practical process definitions. You will apply your knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, including entity creation, workflows, business rules and business process flows, to enhance procedures while continuously referencing project scope and objectives to ensure process change analysis remains relevant and aligned with programme goals.
You will coordinate, communicate and organise project and organisational resources to support deliverables, while championing positive organisational change through the Central Platform programme. The role also includes participating in solution testing where required and collaborating effectively with third-party partners, the CRM steering group, CRM Project Manager, CRM Leads and the CRM Business Analyst to ensure successful delivery.
About you
You will be experienced in process or business change with a proven track record in CRM implementations and an interest in emerging Microsoft technologies, specifically MS Dynamics 365.
Possessing in-depth functional knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, your effective verbal, written, and presentation skills enable you to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels of an organisation. You will be adept at negotiating, influencing, and engaging with stakeholders, quickly building credibility with colleagues and external parties.
