Support Coordinator
We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Rochdale area.
This is an exciting, remote working opportunity, to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.
Position: S11172 Stroke Association Support Coordinator
Location: Home-based, Rochdale, however, regular travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)
Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week (flexible work available)
Salary: Circa £16,043 per annum (FTE circa £26,700 per annum)
Contract: Our services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2025.

The Role
The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.
A key part of the role will be to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers, to support service users and the delivery of the service.
The Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:
· Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
· Provide personalised information, advice and support.
· Support clients to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes
· Be accountable for volunteers, so experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers would be an advantage.

· A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
· Setting up and running Communication Support groups.

We have an opportunity to lead our Health & Wellbeing Team as part of a job share working in collaboration with another senior manager.
You will manage, develop and market Hospital Discharge and Health & Wellbeing Services in Bromley and Greenwich and work in partnership with other providers. You will be responsible for all Hospital Discharge services and work closely with the Hospital as well as be an active member of the Senior Management team.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To have oversight of the monthly and quarterly reports for the services
· The successful candidate will have responsibility for the following services:
o Take Home and Settle/ Hospital Aftercare Service
o Sitting Service
o Handy Person Service
o Frailty Care Navigator
o Long Term Health Conditions
· The work will include some on call responsibilities on evenings and weekends for the Hospital Discharge Services which an extra payment will be made.
· To work in partnership with other providers and health partners across both boroughs.
· To work within the Bromley Well partnership and maintain contact with BTSE
· To build a strong relationship with the hospitals and NHS staff
· To be responsible for health and wellbeing staff including undertaking supervision, guidance and support, allocation and monitoring of work plans, annual appraisals, identification of training needs and participation in the recruitment of staff.
· To work with the Chief Executive to devise and implement a marketing / publicity strategy to promote primary and secondary interventions and other services for older people.
· To work in partnership with older people, volunteers, statutory, voluntary and other agencies to initiate and deliver a programme of healthy living and recreational activities which meet the needs and aspirations of older people in Bromley and Greenwich identifying and developing new initiatives and partners.
· To be responsible for ensuring that risk assessments are undertaken of premises, outreach venues, client’s homes and other measures for the provision of a safe environment ensuring that all legislative requirements are met.
· To ensure that evaluation and monitoring of service/project outcomes is implemented, enabling Age UK Bromley & Greenwich to demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of the service delivery.
· To establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients, work colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations
· To work alongside the Chief Executive to undertake long-term strategic planning of primary and secondary care interventions and other health and wellbeing services.
· To work with older people and with other groups, organisations and agencies in the boroughs to identify potential areas for health, education and social activities that older people want to participate in, and identify funding sources to develop and deliver the new areas of work.
· To be creative and innovative in designing new opportunities and projects for people to get involved across the boroughs in the co-delivery of services.

Impact and Insights Officer
We are looking for someone who has the ability to bring technical analysis to life in a youth work setting and can communicate insights in an accessible style to different audiences. You will be passionate about embracing the power of youth work and be keen to support youth zones in evidencing the impact created with young people.
This is a brand new, unique role to be an impact catalyst across both Carlisle and Barnet youth zones, generating support and building towards a ‘culture of impact’ in both organisations such that outcome measurement and impact reporting becomes routine and ‘every day’.

About the Role
You will lead on data analysis and reporting on the data held in Salesforce CRM, improving both the quality and quantity of monitoring and evaluation processes, driving improvements in data capture through training and upskilling the Youth Work team, strengthening the ability of both youth zones to demonstrate the measurable impact of youth work delivered.
You will also be responsible for measuring and demonstrating both charities’ impact to stakeholders; authoring and providing the necessary data to the leadership and fundraising teams and Board (as required), annual publications such as Trustees Reports and annual Impact Reports. Innovation is a key aspect of this role, involving the introduction and embedding of new methodologies to enhance the qualitative data capture process.

About this role
The Head of HR and Operations is a new position within Sustain and will play a central role in the senior team. You will work closely with the Chief Executive, senior managers and line-managers to provide effective leadership on HR and operational matters. You will lead on creating and improving systems to help us work better; as well as helping Sustain cultivate and embed a positive working culture for the whole staff team. The role will include day-to-day management and ownership of HR matters, processes, recruitment, staff training, skills development and performance management. The role will also lead on the internal people, skills and culture aspects of our diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism work.
Sustain is seeking a highly experienced, professional, authoritative, motivated and committed individual, who is great at working with a team to pursue organisational objectives at a leadership level, whilst developing positive relationships across the whole staff team. We are looking for someone who is experienced, confident and competent to set up and improve systems and approaches. We are also looking for a person with several years of senior experience, relevant qualifications, and an understanding of working with a values-driven team of people in the not-for-profit or charity sector, the majority of whom have permanent contracts but fixed-term project funding.
The person appointed will have an appreciation of the aims and values of the Sustain alliance and be excited by supporting our organisation through the transition to better ways of working. The creation of this role follows a period of significant organisational change associated with hybrid working, unionisation and changes in the senior team. This role will benefit from a confident, professional, diplomatic, values-led, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
The role will not manage a team directly but will work closely to support senior leaders and colleagues who have previously undertaken key HR and operational duties, including Sustain’s Chief Executive, Head of Finance (who will line manage this role) and Finance and Administration Officer. They will also work closely with others on the management team and report to Trustees.
As with all senior roles at Sustain, we expect the person appointed to this role to commit to working mainly at the Sustain office during their probationary period, and thereafter for half of working hours, whilst still benefiting from the flexibility offered to all colleagues. This is part of senior role-modelling of the creativity, support, engagement and mental health benefits that in-person working cultivates between colleagues. This will be managed in coordination with other senior colleagues to enable good in-person coverage and connectivity across the week and across common holiday periods.
Tasks and responsibilities
With a solid understanding of the organisation’s staffing needs, the Head of HR and Operations will work closely with the Chief Executive, Head of Finance and other senior managers to:
- Help Sustain offer good employee contractual terms, processes, employment rights and HR support.
- Implement and develop systems, activities and ways of working that cultivate a positive working culture for the staff team, volunteers and interns, and other people that we work with.
- Oversee implementation and evolution of Sustain’s HR policies, guidance and procedures.
- Lead development and implementation of Sustain’s approach to personnel management, on matters such as performance (e.g. objective setting and work planning), personal development, staff progression, skills, training and learning.
- Review and improve Sustain’s approach to recruitment and induction for staff members, volunteers, student or work placements and paid interns.
- Leading on Sustain’s diversity, equity, Inclusion and anti-racism work, where this relates to recruitment, induction, probation, workplace culture, operations, people and learning, working with and supported by the Core Diversity Group.
- Recording and communicating Sustain’s approach, principally through staff meetings; line managers training; HR processes; and editorial input, oversight and development of relevant chapters of the Staff Handbook, Line Managers Handbook, Recruitment Handbook and Management Handbook.
- Ensuring personal records are handled sensitively, respectfully and with appropriate confidentiality, in line with good organisational culture and data protection rules (GDPR).
In practice this will involve leading on or supporting the following areas of work:
Recruitment, induction and probation
Holding responsibility for overall recruitment and onboarding, induction and probationary approaches, to ensure a warm and inclusive welcome, fairness, consistency and compliance across the organisation. This will include:
- Leading on Sustain’s recruitment processes, supporting Line Managers in writing and grading job descriptions, managing recruitment in line with the ethos and procedures in our Recruitment Handbook, and supporting cultivation of a pipeline of exceptional and diverse candidates.
- Developing, refining and implementing Sustain’s approach to recruitment and our Recruitment Handbook, including streamlining and standardising the shortlisting and interviews process.
- Developing and ensuring high-quality and consistent implementation of welcoming, inclusive and productive induction and probationary period including
- Setting probationary objectives; review probationary training or other needs; and working with line managers to conduct probation reviews.
- Developing the concept of ‘foundation skills and knowledge’ to contribute to the way Sustain develops our induction and probation and creates opportunities for new entrants.
- Helping develop, implement and innovate on recruitment for diversity and overcome barriers to participation, especially for people from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Support for Line Managers
- Ensuring a high quality and consistent approach to line management across the organisation, including development and implementation of standards, key tools and training, working with the Line Managers Forum and developing the Line Managers Handbook.
- Coordinating the quarterly Line Managers Forum a well as participating in this group, to develop a shared approach to strategic matters; organisational culture and staff development; and helping to cultivate Sustain-style leadership at all levels of the organisation.
- Arranging or providing support, advice, and training for Line Managers, including inducting new Line Managers, and supporting all Line Managers to implement key policies, guidance and support the people they manage in a fair and consistent way compatible with Sustain’s values, organisational needs, good HR practice and open communication.
- Ensuring that one-to-ones and annual appraisals happen consistently and effectively, that good records are kept and that the organisation learns from these and takes forward actions arising.
Staff development, learning, progression and performance management
- Working with managers to ensure high-quality objectives and workplans are prepared for all staff members, reviewed and managed effectively.
- Working with Line Managers to understand and respond to staff skills, needs, progression opportunities and needs or aspirations for personal development.
- Supporting implementation of Sustain’s approach to progression. Note: This area is currently under development as part of a wider Progression Review, and the outcome may include, for example, the Head of HR and Operations ensuring high-quality and consistent processes such as objective-setting, performance review, job grading, sector benchmarking, appraisals and appeals.
- Ensuring all staff are benefiting from personal development opportunities (informed by Sustain’s personal development framework and other assets), and regular opportunities with their manager to review progress against objectives, skills and learning, personal development and wellbeing.
- Leading on the annual appraisal process, ensuring it is consistent and useful and enables staff to develop for themselves, their teams and the wider organisation.
- Building a culture of learning including helping to manage a (small) learning and development budget and helping staff to take up opportunity for learning including:
- coordinating the annual staff training programme covering ‘core skills and learning’, alongside other learning opportunities.
- organising internal and external training and learning opportunities for staff, e.g. webinars, in-person sessions, skills-share sessions, visits, strategy sessions and similar.
- championing use of Sustain’s Volunteering Days for climate and social justice.
Staff team, culture and IWGB Trade Union group liaison
- Ensuring Sustain’s staff culture remains vibrant, creative and welcoming, maintaining Sustain’s friendly, collaborative and flexible approach, while ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are implemented to guarantee the continued high quality of our work, ensure accountability and support people to flourish.
- Leading on staff health and wellbeing projects and ensuring appropriate support for staff relating to physical and mental health.
- Facilitating and fostering open communication and staff consultation processes throughout the organisation; working with colleagues to ensure regular opportunities for staff to connect, reflect and celebrate success.
- Running staff consultations, including collating and presenting the findings, examining options, and developing recommendations for senior managers and Trustees, to inform decision-making.
- Carrying out regular staff satisfaction surveys to monitor employee wellbeing, engagement, safeguarding, satisfaction and to measure effectiveness of line management, and to provide key data to the organisation to inform decision-making, including in relation to Sustain’s diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism commitments.
- Participating in staff meetings and reporting to colleagues on key developments.
- Joining senior managers in regular meetings with the Union Liaison Group.
HR and employment contract management
- Working closely with the Head of Finance and senior managers to issue, track and communicate with staff regarding employment contracts, e.g. funding situation, precarity and contract extensions.
- Advising and supporting senior management on employment matters; and how to apply the appropriate organisational values and policies within the legal and ethical framework.
- Working closely with the Head of Finance to support completion of payroll and pension processes.
- Managing potential redundancy and/or end-of-contract processes in line with employment legislation and internal policies; and ensuring that redeployment opportunities are fully considered throughout.
- Managing and reviewing staff records on all absences, to include (but not limited to) annual leave, parental leave, compassionate leave and sickness absence leave, and providing up-to-date information to staff, Line Managers, senior managers and Trustees to enable review and decision-making.
- Helping to manage freelance and consultancy or partnership contracts led by others.
- Maintaining and developing Sustain’s HR information system to manage (including opportunities for further automation), for example, annual leave, absence, and general HR records.
- Supporting Line Managers to conduct exit interviews (or conducting them personally) to ensure routine actions are performed, handover is completed effectively, feedback is captured, lessons learned, and changes implemented where appropriate.
- Helping to manage complaints, grievance and safeguarding processes, working closely with senior managers and the Chief Executive.
- Working with senior managers and Line Managers to ensure that Sustain’s Dignity and Respect Code of Conduct (anti bullying and harassment; safeguarding) is referenced in key places, processes and training, to ensure that this is well understood and treated as a priority.
Policies, guidance and procedures
- Ensuring that Sustain policies, guidance and procedures remain up to date, relevant and legally compliant, supportive to members of staff and in line with Sustain’s needs, constraints and values.
- Ensuring that Sustain’s has organisational statements, policies and guidance that help us to achieve our goals, and to demonstrate, communicate and promote good practice.
- Implementing and managing an HR calendar for compliance checks, policy reviews on existing and future HR policies and procedures, and how this relates to HR and legal good practice, financial analysis, benchmarking, staff consultation and/or Trade Union negotiation.
- Supporting review in areas of concern, for example Sustain’s sickness and absence policy, recording information on patterns, impact and costs, to enable well-informed review of options.
- Carrying out remote working assessments, along with the relevant Line Managers (these are currently based on self-reported information from staff members, not on-site visits).
- Supporting senior managers in Trade Union consultation and negotiation processes, in line with the Trade Union recognition agreement and agreed protocols for the timely provision and consideration of information, transparency, consultation, negotiation and decision-making.
- Providing or commissioning sector benchmarking data, analysis and recommendations to inform decision-making, using the methodology agreed with Trustee oversight, on matters such as pay, annual leave, parental leave, sick leave, and other financial and non-financial staff benefits.
- Communicating and liaising with and consulting the IWGB Trade Union group and wider staff team on key developments in relation to staff development, pay, benefits and working conditions.

About the team
We have been successfully running the first ever national Peer Support Service for kinship carers in England for over two years since January 2022. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.
With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:
- creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
- sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups, and;
- providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.
About the role
The type of person we’re looking for:
This is a new a role and a new structure for the team. You will need to be a strong, boundaried manager and leader. You will understand the power of building relationship-focussed peer support groups and the importance of in person local community engagement and outreach.
The team you lead will focus on community outreach and relationship building to develop new groups and new support group leaders through to independence. By independence, we mean that the groups will function successfully without a staff member present.
We want groups to feel a sense of community and belonging through all support and services we offer at Kinship, so your team will be the local contact. They are expected to be out and about in communities.
Your team will need to build resilience through in person outreach, support, training and connection to ensure groups are able to function independently before moving to new ‘hub’ team who will provide centralised support and community building.
Your team will also reach out to existing groups (providing a face of the service and a relationship with it), ensuring they have the resources they need and support to sustain their group and then transition to the ‘hub’ team. This will include in person visits.
Purpose of the role:
The role of Programme Lead is to oversee and take accountability for the development and creation of new sustainable kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model. In this context, your team is the ‘spoke’ of the service, delivering local outreach, online groups (where appropriate) and relationship building with kinship carers.
Managing a national team of seven staff (two direct line reports), you will provide firm leadership, ensuring targets and funder SLAs are met consistently and the service is delivered to a high quality. About the role
We require someone who is able to provide a range of business support functions to the Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns Department (PPC), specifically the reporting and monitoring of grants-funded projects delivered within PPC and the administration of grants out to partners including use of our international programme management system.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Social Media Manager to join our Communications team. This is a new and exciting role that is both creative and strategic. You will lead on the DEC’s social media presence and expertise to deliver impactful content on all our channels and explore new opportunities to reach our audiences.
Ideally, you will have worked in an NGO, can demonstrate successes in a similar role, have proven experience advising senior leaders and have exceptional “people” skills.

Victim Support is proud to have been commissioned in Cumbria to provide support for victims of all crime, whether or not they have reported to the police.
The service will be a valuable point of contact for anyone affected by crime at any time to contact and receive help, support and information. It will be busy and fast paced receiving referrals and calls of varying nature from a variety of people, and working to provide an offer of support by a victim's preferred method and time of contact.
We have an opportunity available and are looking for dedicated, passionate and empathetic person to join and enhance our team as an Initial Support Agent (known internally as a Triage & Early Interventions Officer), this role is working 37.5 hours per week and is home-based.

About the role:
The role of Triage and Early Interventions Officer (TEIO) is a fast paced one which requires the post holder to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to victims of crime and those accessing the service in Cumbria.
As a TEIO, you will;
- answer incoming calls, speaking to those affected by crime & manage a caseload
- make outgoing calls, assess needs and risks and action plan with callers
- work on the case management system to allocate cases, provide administration on cases and assess/ensure data quality
- liaise with other agencies where required to find out more information, give information or make referrals or give signposting information
- work with the wider team to ensure an effective, trauma informed service is given to those affected by crime
You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.
You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

About the role
The Corporate Partnerships Manager role is responsible for delivery across the breadth of the partnerships pipeline. An estimated 50% of the role will be devoted to new business development, including prospect identification, and shaping and delivering pitches and proposals to corporates and their foundations to meet fundraising targets. The remaining 50% of partnership work will be dedicated to delivering an excellent standard of partnership management to several longstanding existing supporters, working creatively to identify and develop opportunities to maximise their impact.
As our corporate supporters can be powerful partners in the delivery of our advocacy and communications goals you will be confident working with colleagues internally to translate campaign plans into engagement opportunities for private sector partners. You will also be able to co-ordinate colleagues to meet new business deadlines and to ensure agreed partnership deliverables are achieved.
This role sits within our Philanthropy and Partnerships team of five, who focus on income generation through grants, philanthropy, corporate partnerships and individual giving and fundraising. The post holder will work particularly closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, as well as equipping Directors and our CEO to engage corporate partners and prospects where appropriate. As a member of a comparatively small, highly ambitious team, there may, with time, be opportunities for the post holder to extend their experience beyond corporate partnerships, into other fundraising areas, should your skill set meet an identified need.
About you
You may be an established corporate fundraiser seeking a role where you can take on greater responsibility for managing your own pipeline of prospects and key partnerships. Equally you may come from outside the sector and be able to offer clearly transferable experience of securing and developing partnerships (especially those with a “purpose” focus).
Whatever your background you will be a self-starter who is highly motivated and excited by the opportunity to think creatively about corporate partnerships that can enable Malaria No More UK’s unique advocacy and campaigning offer, with a clear goal to ending one of the world’s most significant and oldest killer diseases.
You will also be able to demonstrate the good organisation needed for successful partnership management, and the attention to detail and strong communication skills needs to build relationships and prepare and deliver funding proposals and pitches.
