FORCE Cancer Charity is seeking an experienced Events Fundraiser (fixed term for 12 months) to join our friendly and dedicated Income Generation team. This role is central to delivering and growing our events programme, generating vital income to support people affected by cancer across Exeter and the wider Devon community.

You will take the lead on planning, managing and delivering our existing in‑house events, including our flagship Nello Cycle Ride, while also developing new fundraising opportunities through events, campaigns and supporter‑led activities. With our 40th anniversary in 2027, you will play a key role in shaping an ambitious and engaging programme of events that celebrates FORCE’s impact and inspires even more people to get involved.

A vital part of the role will involve building strong relationships with supporters, volunteers, suppliers and local businesses. You will provide exceptional stewardship, ensuring everyone involved feels supported, appreciated and motivated to continue their fundraising journey with FORCE.

Working closely with the wider Income Generation team, you will contribute to marketing activity, volunteer engagement, supporter communications and the development of new fundraising initiatives. You will also maintain accurate event and participant records, respond to enquiries with warmth and professionalism, and ensure all events are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

We are seeking someone with relevant experience in events or project management - ideally gained in a charity, events or customer‑facing environment - who can confidently build relationships and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will be enthusiastic, organised and self‑motivated, with strong communication skills and a passion for creating memorable experiences that inspire community support.

Some evening and weekend work will be required, with time off in lieu.

The Role
Position: Community Fundraiser
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (part-time or compressed hours can be considered)
Location: Homebased covering West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, East Sussex and Kent
Travel: To support with events and volunteers, this role requires regular travel. 

You'll raise awareness of Canine Partners in the South of England and maximise income from diverse community sources. A proactive approach is key to showcasing our work and charitable goals.

What You'll Be Doing

• Focus on both stewarding existing relationships and cultivating new ones, ensuring an exceptional donor experience throughout
• Act as the entry point for long term supporters and be responsible for the visible presence in the community
• Meet income targets across the year through individuals, clubs and associations, volunteers, events and challenge events
• Contribute to the wider national Community Fundraising direction

About You

• Proven experience of effectively managing relationships with volunteers, supporters, and/or external stakeholders/audiences
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences
• Demonstrable experience in community fundraising and/or events management
• Ability to manage a varied workload and take initiative to prioritise
• Proven record of securing, growing or maintaining income, funding, contracts, partnerships or comparable resources 
• Fundraising experience could be beneficial but not essential
• Physical ability to lift bulky and heavy equipment, to stand for long periods and to travel as required for the role

The Pepper Foundation is a local charity funding children’s hospice care at home, specialised play and family days for children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. 

The Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser will be joining Pepper at an exciting time as we launch our new three-year fundraising strategy. Backed by committed investment and with full Board approval, we are delighted to be growing the charity to deliver sustainable income that directly supports local children and families with hospice care in the comfort of their own homes.

Working closely with the Head of Trusts & Foundations, you will play a pivotal role in increasing income from trusts and foundations by developing and managing a strong pipeline of funders, securing new grants, and building long-term relationships that lead to increased and multi-year support. You will research and prepare compelling applications to both new and existing funders, alongside producing timely, engaging reports that clearly demonstrate impact.

This role requires a highly organised and motivated individual with a passion for writing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver exceptional cultivation, stewardship and relationship management of trusts and foundations aligned with our mission.

Your work will directly support hospice at home care, specialist play services, and meaningful family days out for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions – making a tangible difference to families during the most difficult of times.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week working from home – applicants must live within Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire (or surrounding counties)

Salary: £19,800 per annum for 22.5 hours per week (£33,000 FTE per annum)

Key requirements:

• Work with the Head of Trusts & Foundations to agreed income targets and growth.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of small and medium trusts and foundations (giving up to £10,000).
• Produce high-quality, tailored applications to prospective funders aligned with agreed criteria.
• Prepare meaningful update reports, demonstrating the impact of a funder’s support, whilst ensuring all reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
• Deliver excellent relationship management and stewardship through regular reporting and tailored communications.
• Conduct prospect research to identify and prioritise new trust funding opportunities aligned with The Pepper Foundation’s work.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications on the Donorfy CRM database whilst keeping abreast of GDPR.
• Stay up to date with current trends in trust fundraising.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice, and internal Safeguarding Policies.
• Represent The Pepper Foundation at events as required.
