WCCM seeks to appoint an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Grant and Major Donor Fundraising Manager to lead fundraising and grant management across a global organisation dedicated to the teaching of Christian Meditation.

Working to the Executive Director, you will interact with our decentralised finance, marketing and communications staff and volunteers.  

Together, you will nurture Major Donor relationships and create and manage appropriate donor stewardship schemes and rationalise our income streams.

You’ll ensure grant reporting and management is kept on track whilst developing targeted proposals for new funding from sympathetic donors in the arena of Trusts and foundations.  

You will work to support both our teaching and resourcing of meditation and the running of our retreat centre in Bonnevaux, near Poitiers in France.

An excellent writer with excellent financial and budgeting skills, you will be adept at pulling together relevant, succinct and compelling information for our donor reports and bids.

You’ll work with communications staff to develop impactful donor communications which enhance our accountability and inspire renewed major donations.  

You will have a demonstrable track record in winning grants as well as in the stewardship of major donors.  

Occasional trips to France.

Interest in Christian Meditation/Spirituality an advantage.

Purpose

The Fundraising Development Officer supports the delivery of our individual giving programme, helping to nurture current supporters and attract new ones.

You will be responsible for building our regular giving support, implementing supporter journeys and co-ordinating our annual appeals. You will also work closely with the Head of Fundraising in developing our major donor plans, and support with other individual giving channels, including in-memory giving and legacy giving.

We are looking for someone who has great communication and relationship management skills, and a collaborative approach. You will be a self-motivated, proactive and analytical individual with the ability to build, manage and develop relationships across teams.

While a background in fundraising is desirable, it is not essential. If you bring the right skills and are willing to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities and duties

• Manage our ‘Friends of Charlie Waller’ regular giving scheme, building the supporter numbers and engagement with the charity.
• Deliver exceptional supporter care to our regular supporters, recognising opportunities for deeper engagement and potential for further support.
• Implement the supporter journeys for regular and one-off donors, creating communications to engage them with the cause and understand the impact.
• Co-ordinate and deliver our appeals cycle, working closely with colleagues across the charity to collate appeal content, including case studies, statistics and images.
• Support the delivery and development of our major donor plans, identifying prospects within our supporter base and assisting with stewardship plans.
• Support the delivery and development of our plans for building in-memory and legacy giving, including the administering of gifts, stewardship of supporters and contributing to cultivation events.
• Provide regular updates on progress against agreed objectives and contribute to wider departmental fundraising reports as required.
• Attend CWT events as appropriate to establish new contacts, develop existing relationships, and raise the profile of CWT with potential supporters.
• Ensure that systems and processes are effective, and that our database is being updated and utilised as the central source of information.
• Ensure compliance to data protection, safeguarding, confidentiality and relevant organisational policies and procedures. 
• Routine call handling as part of the wider office administrative team.

As Centre Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for effectively and autonomously managing the full portfolio of activity relating to the centre and to manage complex networks and relationships which have a wider national focus.

THE ROLE

As our new Fundraising Officer, you'll be joining OSCAR's Charity at a pivotal time in our growth. This isn't a rigid, box-ticking role – it's an opportunity to shape your own fundraising legacy. You'll have the freedom to be creative, take ownership, and implement bold ideas whilst working within our established charitable framework. You’ll have financial targets to meet, and the backing of the whole team to help you achieve them.

Your time will be split across three closely-linked key areas:

Corporate Partnerships (35%)

• Researching and identifying potential partners
• Making initial approaches and developing warm contacts
• Supporting our Charity Manager to get partnerships over the line
• Preparing compelling materials and presentations
• Maintaining and stewarding relationships

Flagship Events (35%)

• Boosting sign-ups and participation
• Securing sponsors
• Providing event day support
• Finding creative ways to maximise income

Community Fundraising (30%)

• Building school partnerships
• Coordinating local events (such as quiz nights, bake sales, virtual events)
• Engaging with community groups
• Motivating and inspiring volunteer fundraisers

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-haves

• Proven fundraising experience
• Proven experience in achieving/exceeding targets in the not-for-profit or commercial sectors.

You'll be perfect for this role if you:

• Are comfortable with ambiguity and excited by the opportunity to shape your own role
• Can take ownership and work independently within the team
• Excel at building relationships and inspiring others
• Can balance multiple priorities and create your own systems
• See every pound raised for the life-changing impact it creates
• Are tech-savvy and comfortable with digital tools such as Slack, Notion, Beacon CRM, CapCut, Canva, Excel, Powerpoint and SharePoint
• Are strong at admin processes and have attention to detail

Essential Requirements:

• Based within Yorkshire
• Available to work in York 9-5 on Wednesdays (our team day)
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Willing to undergo DBS check
• Happy to travel across the region for events and meetings
• Available for occasional evening and weekend work

IMPORTANT DETAILS

• Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays
• Start Date: 1st January 2026
• Working hours: Ideally 5 days per week 9-5pm but we are open to 4 days per week pro rata
• Location: York-based (with regional travel)
• Working Pattern: Wednesday in office, home-based the rest of the time

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

We want to see you at your best, so we've designed our interviews to give you the chance to showcase your skills in realistic scenarios.

First-Round Interview (60 minutes):

• A conversation about your experience and motivation (20 minutes)
• Case study analysis (we will send you this the day before): review event data and suggest improvements (20 minutes)
• Written exercise: draft a compelling fundraising email or social campaign (20 minutes)

Second-Round Interview (60 minutes):

• Presentation: share a creative fundraising idea with implementation plan (prepared in advance)
• Response test: corporate partnership meeting
• Problem-solving: respond to a fundraising scenario with limited resources
