About the role
Smart Works are looking to appoint a HR Advisor to join our People team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing team of two, the HR Advisor will play a crucial role in developing the centralisation of the function for all 11 centres across the UK.
The HR Advisor will manage the employee lifecycle staff processes and the trustee recruitment processes, supporting the Head of People in maintaining a professional and efficient function and contributing to the delivery of the People Teams plans and objectives.
An important part of the role is to build excellent working relationships with employees working across Smart Works. The successful candidate will also identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Smart Works is a national charity, with Smart Works centres across the UK. There will therefore be occasional travel and liaison with local centres across the UK and HQ in London, to support induction and training, as well as the day-to-day role.
Duties and responsibilities

Manage the HR Inbox, advising managers and staff on terms and conditions of employment and legislation relevant to specific policies and procedures.
- Managing the recruitment inbox, provide guidance on staffing requirements.
- Lead user of the ATS system, oversee the recruitment process, posting job adverts, scheduling interviews, drafting letters and contracts.
- Support trustee recruitment, posting job adverts, liaising with trustees and co-ordinating responses via the recruitment inbox.
- Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees and interns, including induction plans and process, coordinating probation reviews and exit interviews where appropriate.
- Day to day administration of Breathe HRIS, setting up of new profiles, calculating annual bank holidays, managing employee changes and document merge/uploads.
- Compile monthly payroll information.
- Provide advice to line managers and staff in relation to policies, tailoring communication to individual needs.
- Maintaining timeframes on HR projects and annual processes, such as appraisals.
- Compile monthly HR stats and reports as and when needed.
- Contribute to HR Projects as they arise.

About the team
Shelter’s mature fundraising team has seen continuous year on year growth. The directorate generates over £65m gross income, of which a high percentage is unrestricted, giving us an exceptional level of investment flexibility. This particular role sits within our High Value Partnerships division, which includes Philanthropy, Trusts & Foundations, Legacies, and Corporate Partnerships fundraising specialists. It will also see you work closely with colleagues in a Retail team that’s responsible for a network of 80 charity shops and boutique stores that are the face of Shelter on the high street.
About the role
An ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in a career in corporate fundraising or charity retail, you’ll play a key role in developing Shelter’s retail presence and raising vital funds. You’ll be responsible for enabling stock donations from major retailers, and helping research and develop new relationships with businesses to generate stock and secure their expertise on a pro-bono basis. Thinking strategically, identifying new opportunities, and bringing ideas and concepts to life through written proposals and pitches to businesses in order to generate support for Shelter – all are aspects of a role that will also see you ensure the smooth running of our Stock Generation administration processes and help the Senior New Corporate Partnerships Manager - Retail, with day-to-day activities.
About you

Souster Youth is an exciting Christian youth work organisation in the east Northamptonshire area. We transform the social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of young people in our area through our work in schools and the local community. Based at Souster Youth Trust, Thrapston, Northamptonshire, the Director leads a team of 4 staff and over 20 volunteers.
As Director, you will be motivated by your Christian faith to inspire hope in the lives of young people. You will have vision and strategic ability to lead Souster Youth. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will inspire young people, the staff team, volunteers, and a range of external organisations. You will be empathetic to different views and confident presenting and discussing theological and cultural issues. Key Responsibilities
1. To lead the development and implementation of the vision and strategy of Souster Youth Trust.
2. To develop and promote the trust as a leading, innovative, and valued charity, supported by young people, schools, churches and the wider community.
3. To lead the staff team and volunteers, ensuring safe recruitment, management and appraisals, support, training and development.
4. To work closely with secondary schools, ensuring the continuous improvement of the service provided to them in response to emerging needs and opportunities.
5. To maintain and grow networks and partnerships with churches, relevant organisations, funders and other stakeholders.
6. To mentor and support the staff team by working alongside them directly with young people to model good practice.
7. To enable the voice of young people to be heard in decision-making and shaping of strategy and priorities.
8. To ensure compliance with legislation and champion best practice, with particular regard to Safeguarding, Health and Safety and other policies.
9. To oversee the administration and financial systems.
10. To actively manage the budget and fundraising, working towards the financial sustainability of the trust.
11. To work with the Board of Trustees, providing advice and reports as required.
12. To engage with regular line management, annual review, and commit to continuing professional development.

The National Autistic Society is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Philanthropy Officer (Research) to contribute to the high-performing Philanthropy Team in the Fundraising and Supporter Relations department. The role offers an eclectic mix of responsibilities including an established portfolio of mid- and high-value major donors and small trusts and foundations. You will contribute to an ambitious yet exciting income target through both new business and account management responsibilities. Other responsibilities include leading on prospect research for the Philanthropy Team and supporting the Senior Philanthropy Manager and Special Events Manager on a small portfolio of high value events.

- At least two years’ experience in the fundraising sector (essential)

- Experience of securing five or six figure gifts (desirable)

Where and when you will be working
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) based in our Head Office in London (Shoreditch) with the opportunity to work from home three or four days per week.

To lead the volunteer team and maximize the potential of volunteering to support the service. The post holder will lead on the recruitment, retention and training of volunteers, working closely with the Head of Fundraising, Volunteering and Communications. They will organise volunteer recognition events, feedback opportunities and ensure that volunteers have the opportunity to participate in all staff events such as meetings, away days and training sessions.
The Volunteer Lead will hold responsibility for the corporate volunteering programme, facilitating teams to undertake volunteering. They will also work in collaboration with the Fundraising team to establish a homelessness training/education element as part of the corporate social responsibility experience.
