Ataxia UK is in an exciting phase of expansion in its Fundraising activity, specifically regarding investment in a Philanthropy function with a dedicated member of staff. In the past, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) have been managed reactively by the CEO and other Fundraising staff as opportunities have arisen. Ataxia UK (AUK) now wants to make a step change, in response to identified potential within the current fundraising landscape, towards strategic management of a pipeline of HNWI. As part of this, AUK is looking to engage a consultant on a fixed term contract, to work closely with the Senior Philanthropy Manager to undertake comprehensive research & scoping, in order to populate a HNWI pipeline for AUK.

Headway East London is looking for a creative and values-driven Communications Officer to support and develop the voice of Headway East London – working with our community of brain injury survivors, volunteers, and staff to co-produce content that shares our stories, increases awareness and broadens our reach.

You’ll play a central role in promoting our services, supporting income generation, and amplifying the voices of our members through a range of marketing and communications activity. You’ll balance digital know-how with a collaborative approach, developing accessible, engaging content across channels including our website, social media, e- newsletters, and print materials.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Delivery

• Deliver and support the implementation of our communications and marketing strategy across all channels (digital and print).
• Support a regular calendar of activity across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, BlueSky, YouTube) to maintain and grow a network of online supporters.
• Support on maintaining and developing content for the Headway East London website (using WordPress and Elementor), including blog posts, service pages and events.
• Create engaging, relevant and accessible content including copy, video, photography, audio and graphics (using Canva), in line with brand guidelines and accessibility principles.
• Co-ordinate monthly e-newsletters and other communications using Mailchimp to a variety of audiences.

Community & Co-Production

• Work with our members(services users - people with brain injury),volunteers and staff to co-create content that reflects their voices and experiences.
• Ensure accessibility is embedded in all communications, including use of plain English, inclusive visuals, and a variety of formats.
• Engage the wider Headway East London community in developing campaigns, storytelling, and communications planning.

Campaigns, Partnerships & Income Generation

• Support fundraising and development teams to plan and deliver digital campaigns that increase donations, engagement and awareness.
• Explore opportunities for brand development, partnerships and earned media that align with our values and strategic priorities.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with local and national media outlets and stakeholders.

Internal Communications

• Support internal communication needs across the organisation, helping teams stay informed and connected across multiple sites.
• Help develop internal resources and templates that enable teams to produce consistent, values-led communications.

Person Specification

Essential:

The role

As Manager of Philanthropic Giving, you will lead myaware’s trusts, foundations and high-value philanthropy fundraising, driving sustainable income growth through a strong and well-managed funding pipeline. You will shape and deliver strategies to secure both restricted and unrestricted income, manage the full bid lifecycle, and build long-term relationships with trusts, statutory funders and high-net-worth individuals.

Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership and trustees, you will develop compelling funding propositions, steward funders through excellent reporting and engagement, and represent myaware at meetings, events and networking opportunities. You will also maintain accurate records through our CRM system, track performance against targets, and contribute to income planning and reporting. The Manager of Philanthropic Giving will be predominantly home based within the UK (with occasional working and meetings at Derby HQ) and will work in co-operation with the fundraising team and all myaware colleagues to deliver agreed fundraising targets and campaigns. Own transport is essential for this role as occasional travel throughout the UK will be required to attend donor meetings, events and networking opportunities, as well as the ability to travel to the Derby office. There may be the need to occasionally work during weekends and evenings and therefore there is a need to work flexibly when required.

Who are we?

Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.

The myasthenias are a group of neuromuscular conditions. You will be an experienced CRM user, up to date with fundraising regulations, and ideally bring at least two years’ experience in a fundraising management role, including line management. Thriving in a fast-paced environment, you will be motivated by results and have a proven track record of meeting income targets, underpinned by a strong commitment to excellent supporter care and stewardship.

Humanimal Trust are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and highly organised Fundraising Officer to support our fundraising activity and help deliver inspiring campaigns and events that make a real difference. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting fundraising activity across the charity, helping to deliver events, campaigns and supporter communications while ensuring our supporters feel valued, informed and inspired.  

This is a part-time, remote role (20 hours per week), with occasional UK travel for meetings and events. 

As our Fundraising Officer you will: 

• Support a programme of fundraising events, including research, planning, logistics, budgeting and evaluation 
• Assist with the development of new fundraising initiatives and campaigns 
• Deliver first-class supporter care and respond to fundraising enquiries 
• Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters and volunteers 
• Maintain accurate supporter data and generate reports to support fundraising strategy 

You’ll bring 

• Relevant experience and a genuine interest in fundraising and supporter engagement 
• Confidence working with databases and digital platforms, particularly Salesforce 
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills 
• Strong organisational and administrative skills 
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote working environment

This is an exciting time to join NICE, as we begin to plan for our 40th Anniversary year and build on our existing fundraising strategy to grow our supporter base and develop new income streams to support the expansion of our services. We have a small but successful fundraising team in place, who work collaboratively to manage fundraising activity and meet agreed income targets.

We are looking for a candidate who can engage our families and individual and community supporters, compellingly convey the need for, and impact of, the work we do.  The post holder will work closely with the CEO, Fundraising Manager, the rest of the fundraising team as well as other teams across the organisation, not forgetting our amazing families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Generate income across an agreed range of community fundraising initiatives and events
• Steward supporters to help maximise income and future support to the charity
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with our families and community supporters
• Be committed to helping disadvantaged children and adults 

Requirements:

• Previous fundraising and income generation experience
• Experience in supporter stewardship
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire supporters 

Due to the nature of our work, it is recommended that you work from our office in Moseley, Birmingham, the majority of the time. However, some hybrid working will be considered.
