About the role
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and highly organised Fundraising Officer to support our individual giving, community fundraising, and small trusts and foundations activities. The Fundraising Officer will manage individual and community donor activities, and the donor database to support thanking, stewardship and targeted donor engagement. They will also play a key role in monitoring the impact of our fundraising activity to ensure continuous improvement and income growth.

Main duties and responsibilities

Individual and Community Fundraising

Donor Stewardship and Prospect Research

• Ensure all donors are thanked promptly and feel valued and engaged.
• Manage and maintain accurate donor data in Donorfy, producing reports on donor activity and performance.
• Monitor and manage fundraising and donation enquiries through our development@ inbox, responding and referring them as appropriate.  
• Research new fundraising prospects and initiatives across individuals, community groups, small trusts, local businesses and other potential supporters. Maintain organised records of prospects and recommendations.

Trusts & Foundations (Small Grants)

• Support the Fundraising and Communications Manager and Trust and Foundations Fundraiser with the small grants pipeline, including prospect research, applications and reporting. 
• Work closely with appropriate staff and service coordinators on project budgets, reporting and planning as needed.

Other responsibilities

• Support and oversee fundraising volunteers and interns as required.

Overview

The Campaigns and Alumni Relations Office (CAR) at the University of Sheffield is dedicated to inspiring alumni (former students) and supporters to make philanthropic gifts, as well as giving their time and expertise. A donation to the University of Sheffield can change lives, from supporting students in financial need to furthering world-leading research.

As part of the Individual Giving team in CAR, this role encourages people to make gifts of up to £10,000 using a data-driven approach and a range of communication and fundraising channels. The Fundraising Officer will also coordinate our community fundraising and in-memory programme to typically raise over £150,000 per year, as well as project managing direct mail, digital appeals and stewardship communications.

Acting as an advocate for philanthropy, you’ll support and motivate volunteer fundraisers and play a significant role in delivering the University’s flagship fundraising event, the Big Walk. You’ll also support the team to deliver fundraising and donor impact communications using a range of channels (email, print, web and video). On an ad-hoc basis you’ll manage our team of scholarship ambassadors to help engage donors, this may include coordinating small telephone fundraising sessions.

We are seeking a Trusts Fundraising Officer to join our ambitious trusts and foundations team, supporting delivery of the trusts fundraising plan and maximising grant income. The successful candidate will contribute to developing compelling proposals to secure funding, provide excellent stewardship of donors to build long term relationships, and research new trust prospects.

Proven experience of successful trusts fundraising is essential, and the candidate will need to be proactive, naturally well organised, with the ability to craft powerful cases for support. An understanding of fundraising from trusts for medical research causes is desirable.

You will support the Head of Trusts Fundraising in maximising income from charitable trusts and foundations to meet and exceed financial targets; identifying new trusts and increasing the number and value of gifts.

1. To support the Head of Trusts Fundraising in implementing the three-year strategic plan for Trust Fundraising, and in delivering an effective annual plan and budget that will enable Action Medical Research to maximise income from charitable trusts and foundations.

Our Fundraising Assistant will provide key administrative support to the Fundraising Team. Being based primarily at our Shrewsbury office, this person will be a key point of contact for our supporters in the office, and will assist with managing online fundraising platforms, email and phone communications and ensuring fundraising materials are ready and waiting to go out into the community.

This person will also work closely with our Operations Team, ensuring that they have the information they need to process donations accurately, and that our valued supporters are thanked in a timely manner. They will form part of a rota with Operations colleagues to ensure all Reception desks are staffed as required.

They will be friendly, able to communicate well with people across the community, including those living with cancer or who are bereaved. They will also be collaborative, detail-focussed and willing to work with others to solve problems.

We are looking for someone to work 22.5 hours per week; this can be worked in a flexible pattern as agreed, within office hours and across at least three working days. This role can be worked within school hours across five days if required. This role will be based primarily at our office at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but will need to work at our other sites within Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales on occasion.

Email marketing

· Develop and maintain email marketing automation programmes to improve supporter experience.

Paid media

· Work with our digital agency to optimise the ROI of our Search Engine Advertising (SEA) on Google and Bing.

· Develop and test new Social Media Advertising campaigns to support fundraising objectives.

· Develop and test new paid media activities to enhance fundraising campaigns.

· Develop and implement multichannel digital fundraising campaigns, working with the Fundraising Manager.

Content creation and website

· Design and produce creative content including video and images for use across digital fundraising and supporter engagement activities.

· Improve the HI UK website as a tool for fundraising and supporter engagement, focusing on the creation and development of appeal landing pages, donation forms, and supporter actions.

Cross cutting

· Maintain detailed reporting on key performance indicators for digital marketing, to evaluate performance, make improvements and identify tests.

· Test and improve key supporter journeys across HI UK’s digital channels to increase income, conversion rate and engagement.

In this role, you’ll contribute to raising around £500,000 a year to fund life-saving research and vital support services for patients and families. We are looking for a proactive and people-focused Events and Fundraising Coordinator to support the delivery of our fundraising activity, events and supporter engagement programme. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining relationship-building, organisation and delivery, and who wants to play a hands-on role in creating positive supporter experiences. You will support individual giving, community and challenge fundraising, and a programme of events that recognise and celebrate our supporters and pro bono partners.

As our Fundraising Officer you’ll play a crucial role in raising philanthropic income for the university. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as 2026 marks the University’s centenary.

Your work will involve planning and delivering a range of fundraising activities aimed at raising charitable donations from alumni and other supporters. Projects will include an international giving day, telephone campaign, direct mail appeals, online crowdfunding projects and raising money at public events on our campuses.

This role is a fixed-term full time position, working 35 hours per week, providing maternity cover for 1 year from February 2026. Working hours would normally be 9-5pm Monday to Friday, but the role will require periods of out of hours working such as during the telephone campaign.

The role requires some days working at the Whiteknights Campus each week, but The Fundraising Team supports hybrid remote working arrangements too.

Since 2013, FarmAbility has been supporting learning disabled and autistic adults in Oxfordshire, running an outdoor day service for co-farmers (our participants), across multiple sessions each week throughout the calendar year on various farm and garden sites. Currently we work with over 65 people each week. When our co-farmers come to us they get involved in a wide range of purposeful, real-life farm and nature-based tasks. Co farmers also have the opportunity to socialise with others and form friendships. There are always new people to meet and lots of opportunities to interact with others from all sorts of backgrounds at a FarmAbility day.

Role description:

This role will support FarmAbility in developing our fundraising capacity. Currently, the majority of this work is carried out by the CEO and we are looking for an experienced fundraiser to support with the creation and delivery of a fundraising strategy, and with the practical work of submitting grant applications and stewarding current and potential new donors. Together with the CEO the Fundraising Officer will develop a comprehensive Fundraising Strategy for the charity incorporating major donors, trust & foundations, corporate support and community fundraising. The postholder will be engaged with our mission and eloquent in their expression of our work and its impact to external audiences. They will work closely with our Impact team to present our outcome messaging to funders and will also work closely with our Communications & Events Officer (C&EO) to plan and deliver community-based fundraising activities for our supporters to engage in, helping to deliver online and social media focused campaigns and community events.

We are open to this role operating largely remotely with a hybrid workplace for the right candidate, with the expectation of a regular in person presence on site to understand our work, connect with the team and meet our wider community of participants and supporters at events and celebrations. This is a multi-faceted role, with opportunity to grow and develop. You’ll work with colleagues across the organisation. Role responsibilities:

Trusts and Foundations:

• Work with the CEO to prepare, write, and submit high-quality grant applications, ensuring they meet the requirements and deadlines of funders.

• Maintain and develop relationships with existing trust and foundation supporters by providing regular updates, face to face meetings and site visits as appropriate.

• Work closely with the CEO and Impact team to gather relevant data for funding applications and ensure accurate reporting on project outcomes.

Individual Donors:

• Work with the CEO and C&EO to develop a regular giving scheme, enabling people to offer a regular gift to FarmAbility and establishing a reliable donation stream.

• Ensure prompt communication with ad hoc donors, including thank you letters, progress updates, and invitations to events as appropriate.

• Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, gift history, and personal preferences using the organisation’s CRM system. Events and Community

• Support the Communications and Events Officer (C&EO) to organise and execute fundraising events (e.g., sponsored challenges, ticketed events) to engage community donors and generate income.

• Collaborate with the C&EO to promote fundraising events through social media, newsletters, and other marketing channels.

• Collaborate with the C&EO to develop engaging fundraising materials, such as newsletters, social media posts, and donor case studies.

Financial and Administrative:

• Work with the finance team to manage budgets for events and initiatives, ensuring targets are met and expenses are controlled.

• Support the Finance Lead, CEO and Treasurer to monitor and report on income received from trusts, foundations, and individual donors- including Gift Aid, ensuring that all income is correctly allocated.

• Prepare regular progress reports for the CEO, board of trustees, and funders as required.

Collaborative Working:

• Attend networking events, conferences, and meetings with funders and donors to represent the organisation and develop new opportunities.

• Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all colleagues in the team to ensure the successful delivery of our programmes. Respond promptly and appropriately to daily, weekly, monthly team communications.

• Take on additional responsibilities appropriate to the post as required (for example when new projects are implemented within FarmAbility).

• Take part in FarmAbility community events and carry out roles to plan, deliver and review these activities as required in collaboration with the whole team.

Robes is a small but mighty charity tackling homelessness across Southwark and Lambeth. Working with over 600 volunteers, churches and community partners, we deliver life-changing services to vulnerable people on the streets.

In winter, we run emergency night shelters. Year-round, our Wednesday Club offers hot meals, showers and support. We provide up to six months of floating support to help guests secure sustainable accommodation and find employment or training.

About You

You're an experienced Fundraiser with a track record securing grants and managing relationships with trusts, foundations and major donors. You're strategic and thorough – you understand relationship-building, can write compelling applications, and articulate impact clearly.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A proven success in corporate and charitable trust fundraising, with a strong understanding of funder and donor expectations and a track record of effectively meeting them.
• Experience managing fundraising pipelines and meeting income targets.
• Strong relationship-building and stewardship skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the confidence to engage and build relationships with stakeholders and partners at the highest level.
• A keen eye for detail and ability to analyse complex data and research findings to extrapolate key messages to craft compelling cases for support or to communicate the impact of interventions.
• The ability to present complex information in the most appropriate format tailored to the specific audience.

The Role

You'll lead fundraising strategy across multiple income streams, focusing on trusts, foundations, corporate partnerships and major donors. You'll manage the full fundraising cycle from research and relationship-building through stewardship.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you’ll execute our new fundraising strategy, support our growth plans, research funding opportunities, write strong grant applications, manage a pipeline of major donor prospects, plan our 20th anniversary campaign, and provide quarterly progress reports.

With three days a week focused on foundation and corporate partnerships work, a full-time role would typically include one day on legacy work and one day on community events.

You bring at least three years' fundraising experience, ideally in a charity setting. You're skilled at grant writing, relationship management and strategic planning. You have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. You're proactive, flexible and genuinely motivated by mission.
