CleanupUK is a small charity with big aspirations. We use the activity of litter-picking to support people living in disadvantaged areas to form litter-picking groups – not only to keep their neighbourhood clean but also to bring the community together.
Now in its 18th year, CleanupUK is embarking on a growth phase. As a result, we would like to attract people to CleanupUK’s board as trustees who have varied and diverse backgrounds and experience. You will likely feel passionate about the issue of litter and also about its impact on communities.
We are currently looking to recruit three new trustees who are prepared to devote their time and energy to helping CleanupUK grow into the next stage. The three skill sets we are looking for are :

The Bromley Experts by Experience Treasurer will help the board of trustees carry out their financial responsibilities, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chair of Trustees and staff team in establishing strong foundations for this Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation with a view to a financially sustainable future. You will also be supporting us in developing our future approach to financial management, making the most of financial modelling, and supporting clear reporting to funders, partners and stakeholders.
The Treasurer will play a vital role, working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chair of Trustees and staff team to help the organisation ensure sound financial records, develop income streams, and build impact reports. As part of a new, expanded board of trustees at Bromley Experts by Experience, you will provide effective financial oversight, supporting the CEO and senior staff members in developing our vision and strategy to ensure a financially sustainable future.

Responsibilities of the Treasurer:
- Present financial reports to the board in a format that helps fellow trustees understand X by X Bromley’s financial position.
- Advise the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities.
- Work with professional advisors and staff, as needed to oversee the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts.
- Ensure X by X Bromley activities benefit its members and beneficiaries.
- Ensure the board fulfils their duties and responsibilities for effective charity governance in line with Bromley Experts by Experience’s policies and the requirements of the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
- Support and advocate for X by X Bromley’s mission, vision and values.
What we ask of you:
- The Treasurer should expect to serve for a minimum of 12 months.
- The Treasurer is required to attend scheduled meetings with some ad hoc meetings where necessary.
- It is anticipated that the time commitment will be an approximate average of 2.5 hours per week. This will mainly comprise of:
- Board meeting attendance (plus preparation thereof) every 8 weeks,
- AGM attendance (plus preparation of papers and accounts),
- Supporting our annual Disability Pride event.
- Regular scheduled meetings with senior staff.
- As we are a very small charity, there could be occasions when extra time will be required (e.g. during the planning of new projects or dealing with any particular difficulties that arise), or where additional support would be appreciated (e.g. attending events, meeting members at project days).
Key Skills and Qualities:
- Lived Experience of disability (can be self-identified)
- A belief that Disabled People can and should be actively welcomed and included in our communities. An understanding that it is barriers in society that make that harder. This is called the Social Model of Disability.
- A qualified accountant with not-for-profit awareness and knowledge. An understanding of very small charities and/or DDPOs would be advantageous.
- Competent IT skills, including working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel.
- Ability to communicate and explain financial information accessibly.
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating professional and independent judgement.
- A genuine interest in local communities and people.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, communicating in a way that is accessible to you.

The Treasurer must be legally eligible to stand as a registered Company Director and Charity Trustee. Having had previous experience as a trustee of a voluntary organisation is an advantage.

Brent Foodbank are looking for someone with to join the board as its new Secretary of Trustees to lead on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees.
Key tasks
Secretary of Trustees Responsibilities:
- To ensure that there is a record of all Trustee board correspondence
- To ensure that arrangements for Trustee meetings are communicated to the rest of the board, including when and where, inviting trustees to send agenda items and providing to the board with previous meeting minutes in good time prior to the meeting.
- To ensure decisions and policy creation/adaption are clearly recorded in formal minutes, with who will do what and when as agreed by the Trustee board.
- Ensure formal minutes are taken, produced and distributed to the rest of the trustees in good time, as well as ensuring previous meeting minutes are signed by the chair once approved by the trustee board.
- To check that actions have been taken following decisions at previous meetings.
- To ensure the trustee board meets its legal obligations, including reporting, meeting charity and company law, as well as insurance requirements.
- To ensure that the annual report (to go alongside annual accounts) is produced and sent to the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales).
Key responsibilities along with the board of trustees include:
- to approve, support, and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives

Luminary provides training, employment and community to some of the most disadvantaged women in London. We work alongside women who have experienced gender-based violence and live with ‘multiple disadvantage’ - a term that recognises that many women experience multiple forms of social and economic disadvantage which interlink, intersect and
drive a cycle of deprivation. Our primary focus is helping these women achieve employment and reach independence - breaking the cycle of poverty, violence and disadvantage, once and for all.
OVERVIEW
The Charities Act 1993 defines charity trustees as those responsible under the charity's governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. For Luminary Limited, the trustees oversee and support the operations of the charity, our Employability Support Programme, 1-to-1 holistic support, Mentor Scheme & next steps Progression Support Programme.
We work in collaboration with, but independently of, the Board of Directors of the business, Luminary Bakery Limited, who oversee the governance of the bakery, café business and commercial operations.

How we achieve our Mission
We use baking as a tool to guide women towards employability and independence. Over our two-year programme, women learn to bake, gain a catering qualification and develop transferable skills such as budgeting, interview techniques, working as a team, and resilience. Women gain valuable work experience through our sister organisation, Luminary
Bakery, as well as being paired with a volunteer mentor who helps her develop her career next steps. However, our programme goes far beyond job skills. We offer access to highly-trained counsellors and each woman is supported by a dedicated Progression Support Worker to help her navigate the broader challenges she will face including housing and debt.
THE ROLE OF LUMINARY LIMITED’S BOARD OF TRUSTEES
At its simplest, the role of the Trustee Board is to receive assets from donors, safeguard them and apply them to the charitable purposes of Luminary Limited. The Trustee Board must always act in the best interests of Luminary Limited, exercising the same standard of duty of care that a prudent person would apply if looking after the affairs of someone for
whom they have responsibility. The Trustee Board must act as a group and not as individuals.
DUTIES OF A TRUSTEE BOARD MEMBER
The duties of a Trustee Board member are to:
Ensure that Luminary Limited complies with its Articles of Association, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
Ensure that Luminary Limited pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.
Ensure Luminary Limited pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.
Ensure Luminary Limited applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects.
Contribute actively to the Trustee Board by giving firm strategic direction to Luminary Limited, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
Safeguard the good name and values of Luminary Limited.
Ensure the financial stability of Luminary Limited by opening up its network.
Stay up to date with matters of charity law and issues affecting Luminary.
In addition to the above statutory duties, each Trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Trustee Board reach sound decisions, and to support Luminary Limited staff when necessary. This may involve leading discussions, identifying key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, and evaluating or offering advice on other areas in which the Trustee has insight, experience or expertise.

MINIMUM TIME COMMITMENT OF BEING A LUMINARY TRUSTEE
Trustees are expected to attend all board meetings which are held four times a year on weekday evenings, with some shorter meetings in between as necessary. The meetings last approximately two hours and are usually in Camden, London (physical attendance is preferred, but flexibility can be given in certain circumstances). Trustees are also expected to
attend the yearly Graduation Ceremony and 1-2 other social events, including Luminary staff gatherings.
In addition, each Trustee must:
Be committed to the mission of Luminary Limited.
Be able to commit for a minimum of three years on the Board.
Be willing to meet the minimum time requirement.
Have integrity and independent judgement.
Be able to think creatively and speak their mind.

Trustees:

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Following an audit of the current skills & expertise on the board, Luminary are seeking five new Trustees with experience in the following areas:
Legal experience and current practice, primarily in employment and charity law, to be able to guide the Board and CEO on legal matters informally and liaise with Luminary’s lawyers on an ad-hoc basis to provide support as needed.
Experience in policy work and advocacy on violence against women and girls and/or related social justice issues.
Experience of charity governance, including growing and scaling up a charity.
Building and drawing on a fundraising network or fundraising experience to secure further investment support.
Safeguarding expertise and experience to be able to support the Board and staff in ensuring appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.

The Bromley Experts by Experience Secretary will play a vital role, working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chair of Trustees. You will help the Trustee Board carry out their duties in an efficient manner, ensuring all governance documents and procedures are followed. The Secretary will ensure the smooth and efficient running of accessible trustee board meetings and will be the Trustee responsible for leading preparation, administration, and delivery of the AGM.
The Secretary will ensure the trustees recognise and complete relevant actions related to their decisions, and that all decisions made by the trustees comply with the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements the charity is subject to, are in accordance with Bromley Experts by Experience’s governing documents, reflect the aims of the charity, and continue to provide benefit to our members, beneficiaries and local Deaf and Disabled people.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chair of Trustees, the Secretary will ensure the charity meets all its regulatory requirements, has strong governance and foundations to enable Bromley Experts by Experience to achieve as much as we can in future.

We are The Unseen Barriers Foundation - a new, disabled-led Scottish charity (Incorporated as CLG with charity status pending) tackling the invisible causes of exclusion. Shame, sensory overload, emotional exhaustion, disbelief. These are the things that stop people from showing up - to appointments, to events, to life.
The Foundation is built around two original lived experience contributions by our founder:
- The Unseen Barriers Framework - a landmark conceptual model naming the distress-based barriers that keep disabled people locked out of support.
- Cùran - a green plush dragon created as a visual anchor for distress, shutdown, and solidarity.
Both are licensed to the Foundation by the creator to ensure they serve a purpose-first, rights-based mission.
We are now looking for trustees to help shape this work from the ground up. This is a working board - not a figurehead role. Trustees will actively contribute to strategic direction, governance, and growth.
We are currently remote-first to ensure full accessibility, but will provide office space (Edinburgh/Glasgow area) once funded. You do not need to be based in either city.
Estimated time commitment:
Around 10 hours per month including preparation, meetings, and task-based input.

About ShowerBox
ShowerBox is a registered charity dedicated to providing free, safe showers and essential supplies to people experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to create a welcoming environment that restores dignity, improves wellbeing, and helps to reduce isolation. We also connect our guests with health clinics and other vital services, supporting them to make long-term, positive changes in their lives.
Founded by our CEO, Sarah Lamptey, in response to the urgent need for accessible hygiene facilities, ShowerBox began in 2018 as a grassroots initiative and became a registered charity in 2021. Since then, it has grown into a multi-site service, operating both independently and in partnership with other organisations.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic and committed Chair to lead ShowerBox into its next phase of growth. Building on the success achieved since becoming a CIO and expanding to three locations, the Chair will work closely with the CEO to shape the organisation’s future and strengthen its impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing effective strategic leadership to the Board, ensuring sound governance and clear direction.
- Supporting and constructively challenging the CEO, while holding them accountable for delivering agreed objectives.
- Ensuring the Board remains effective and diverse, with the right balance of skills, knowledge, and experience.
- Acting as an ambassador for ShowerBox, representing the charity externally and serving as a spokesperson when appropriate.
- Safeguarding the charity’s values, reputation, and financial sustainability.
We are looking for someone who can bring:
- A strong commitment to supporting people experiencing homelessness and hygiene poverty.
- Previous experience as a Trustee or Board member (experience as a Chair of a voluntary organisation is highly desirable).
- A solid understanding of the legal, financial, and governance responsibilities of trusteeship.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to chair meetings effectively.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative approach.
- The time, energy, and commitment to support a small but growing charity.
Time commitment and terms:
- The Chair of Trustees is appointed for a renewable term of two years.
- Expected time commitment: up to two days per month, with flexibility for additional time during new projects or unexpected challenges.
- Board meetings are held four times a year (mostly online), with occasional subcommittees and events depending on interest and expertise.
- This is an unpaid voluntary role; reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Main Tasks:
We appreciate any volunteering help that you can offer YBTC and want to make sure that our
volunteers have a positive experience with us. We pledge to support you as much as we can.
We want to ensure that volunteering with us does not feel too daunting, so the exact tasks might

· Support our regular wellbeing/peer support walks

We are seeking a new trustee with legal (and ideally, public policy) expertise to help strengthen our governance, advise on risk, and support our influence in law and policymaking spaces.
You’ll support our work to improve legal protections for LGBT people, guide strategic decisions on risk and compliance, and help Galop navigate legal landscapes around advocacy, safeguarding, and survivors’ rights.

Terms of Appointment
Appointments are for an initial term of three years, renewable for up to two further terms of three years.
Remuneration
This is a voluntary role and there is no remuneration. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed in line with the organisation’s expenses policy.
Location: Generally, meetings are held remotely online, with an annual Board Strategy Day being held in London.
Time Commitment
There are currently 4 formal Board meetings per year and more regular sub-committee meetings. The board meetings currently take place on Zoom on a Wednesday evening for approximately 2.5 hours. Sub-committee dates and times are flexible.
Other time commitments will include ongoing liaison with the Chair of the Board, Chief Executive and other senior staff, as well as attendance at other meetings, such as interview panels and events as required. We anticipate the overall time commitment being approximately 3-4 days per month for the first 12-18 months, settling to 2 days per month after that.
