Background
Our 68-year-old charity is one of the most exciting and flexible employers in the charity sector. Having supported 13,000 Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) and their 100,000 heroic volunteer fundraisers to raise more than £1 Billion during the past decade, last year we began to lay the foundations for significant growth in impact during the decade ahead, not just to extend the impact of PTAs, but to provide more broader support for parents in enabling their children to live happy, healthy, and productive lives.
During the summer, we launched a membership magazine (PTA Extra), and a popular programme of parent webinar covering such topics as: ‘Supporting your child’s mental health’, ‘Helping your child succeed in KS2 English’, ‘Neurodiversity in Children Matters’.In the autumn began building a fundraising team to support PTAs by fundraising at the national level. In December we launched the highly successful ‘National Parent Survey’ to explore the challenges and concerns parents face. This year we relaunch a national publication for parents new to school, called ‘Be School Ready’, and our new ‘PTA Launchpad’ programme.
At Parentkind we have developed a culture of high expectations for supporting PTAs and Parents alongside an equally high expectation that colleagues take care of their mental health and well-being.We are obviously a parent-friendly and flexible employer, where colleagues work from home by choice, and are given agency to perform their duties in balance with life.Colleagues work around important life-commitments such as taking their children to school, attending a medical appointment, or just taking a walk.Colleagues are trusted to do great things, both at home and whilst working.

About Bookmark
Bookmark began life just over five years ago with a clear mission; they want every child to read. Currently more than one in four children are leaving primary school unable to read well. These children are more likely to drop out of school, experience unemployment, poverty, and poor mental health. Poor literacy disproportionately impacts children from disadvantaged backgrounds, and Bookmark wants to make sure that all children have access to the reading resources and support they need so they can succeed in school and beyond.
Bookmark are a wonderful organisation with big impact. They partner with schools in disadvantaged communities to provide one-to-one support to their pupils, along with books, resources and grants that help teachers to develop vibrant whole school reading cultures. Last year alone they worked in over 150 schools, directly supported 2,000 children with their volunteer-led reading programme, and supplied over 50,000 brand new books to children so they can develop the reading skills and confidence they need for a fair chance in life.

Charity People is working with The Suzy Lamplugh Trust to find a new Senior Business Development and Partnerships Officer to join their excellent fundraising team.
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was born out of the tragic story of Suzy Lamplugh, a 25-year-old estate agent who went missing whilst at work in 1986, was never found, and was eventually declared deceased in 1993. The Trust was set up in Suzy's name to empower individuals and organisations to make a stand against all forms of abuse, aggression, and violence, across their personal and professional lives.
They are a rapidly growing charity that delivers high value impact to its beneficiaries, through its legacy, integrity, and credibility. They have educated millions of lone and frontline workers across all sectors for over three and half decades, and campaigned heavily to drive changes in the law, as well as having supported over 75,000 victims and survivors of stalking since the inception of its National Stalking Helpline service in 2010.
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is UK's founding personal safety charity and leading stalking authority, and has always had the objective of tackling violence against women and girls at the core of what it does.
The role is full time with a salary of £32,500 p.a. and comes with a packed benefits package, including:
- Hybrid working (40% in the office) and Flexitime Policy
- 28 days annual leave (increases after 3 and 5 years to a maximum of 33 days pro rata) + public holidays.
- Pension scheme with 5% employer contribution.
- Health & Wellbeing App with access to advice, counselling, legal support, and a wide range of discounts.
- Occupational Sick Pay (which increases after 3 years).
- Interest-free travel loan for annual season ticket.
- Regular all-staff off-site meetings and events.
The Role
The primary purpose of this role is to generate vital income for their work in making a society in which people are safer and feel safer. This will be achieved through sales of Suzy Lamplugh Trust products, including training courses, consultancy exercises, web-based provisions, and resources to reach income and expenditure targets. The role will be required to work alongside key colleagues and teams to develop and implement an integrated marketing strategy for Suzy Lamplugh Trust products, as well as look to continuously improve and enhance products and services.
Candidates should have a broad understanding of the role corporate partnerships play in advancing strategic objectives of charities, and in particular demonstrate excellent sales and business development skills around products and offers. They are looking for someone creative, proactive, and collaborative who can take their training and consultancy packages to new audiences and really extend the impact of the charity's work. The postholder will be required to liaise with senior leaders and the wider commercial team on the progress of sales against budget and contribute to addressing challenges in a solution-oriented manner, while providing analysis of sales leads, and income and expenditure forecasts.
If this role inspires you to make that next move in your career, please send your CV and cover letter to .
We actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion and would love to hear from candidates from outside of the sector with transferrable skills.
At Charity People, we match charity needs with the skills and experience of candidates, irrespective of age, disability (including hidden disabilities), gender, gender identity or gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. We do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater results for the charities we work with.
We empower people with the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. Together we're helping people change their stories. You could join us to develop and lead a new major gifts programme.
What you’ll be doing
This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Senior Development Manager, you will work closely with the CEO, Director of Development and the Board to develop a giving strategy that will directly feed into our organisational strategy, with a focus on increasing engagement and the growth of the major donor income stream.
You will manage a portfolio of existing major donors and conduct prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship of donors giving gifts from £5,000 to £50,000.
As a result of the pandemic and cost of living crisis, the shape of disadvantage in the UK has changed significantly and we’ve seen the fastest growing child poverty in decades. We are expanding our work to meet this growing need and have developed a new strategy to address the risk of social and economic exclusion.
This is a great time to join a thriving charity with ambitious growth in a role that will truly make an impact on our mission and gain significant personal development opportunities.
What we’re looking for
You will be an excellent major donor fundraiser, with experience of designing and delivering high-impact stewardship programmes and events, and a track record of securing major gifts through written and/or verbal proposals. You will need to be a proactive and ambitious team player, able to work from your own initiative.
You will be able to work primarily from home if you prefer, but will need to be able to be in London when necessary – approximately once a month on average – as well as being willing to travel to meet donors when necessary.
Why our work is so vital
Literacy changes everything.
It gives you the tools to get the most out of life, and the power to shape your future. It’s the key to knowledge, confidence and inspiration. It’s better results at school, and better jobs. If children grow up without the tools to communicate, without books to read or opportunities to write, it’s harder to get where you want to go.
The National Literacy Trust is an independent charity helping people overcome these challenges and change their life chances through the power of words – reading, writing, speaking and listening. From first words, through school days to training, jobs and beyond.
· We work collaboratively in local communities, focusing our work in 20 areas of the UK that are facing the biggest challenges.
· We support schools, developing the most effective tools and techniques and providing resources and programmes to engage and inspire children.
· We campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and decision-makers.
· We support vulnerable adults, people in the criminal justice system and young offenders’ institutions to build their literacy skills
What we offer you
Our team are passionate about our mission and we have a strong and positive working culture, based on shared values and respect. We offer a range of flexible working options and promote a workplace where you can be yourself and contribute to our success, whoever you are.
As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous leave allowance totalling 39 days (including bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and New Year), pension contributions of 8% of annual salary, a cycle to work scheme, employee assistance programme and other health and wellbeing benefits.

Based in the Business Development Directorate, this role will enable Start Network to collaborate with Hub representatives to set up successful resource mobilisation functions in each Hub country and mobilise new funds directly for them. This is a critical role for our strategy and will require someone with experience in setting up ‘income streams’ from scratch (including setting resource mobilisation strategies and fund-raising protocols). This role requires someone with ample experience in coordinating teams across countries and securing new income from donors. Most Hubs are new entities (small humanitarian networks), therefore the support required will also include capacity-building, donor-mapping, direct engagement on behalf of the Hubs with the donors, and other activities, as defined and directed by the Director. Provision of support to the Hubs will largely be done through remote coordination, facilitation, and engagement. The business
development directorate is mainly based in London but there will be flexibility with regards to where this role sits. This is a new role and will require adaptability, a positive attitude, and a proactive character. It is also important to note that this role might be travelling 6 weeks per year (10 days at a time) to various hub countries.
