We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with significant experience of fundraising successfully for major gifts from individuals within a charity or higher education setting to join our 100-strong Philanthropy and Global Engagement (PAGE) Division in support of LSE’s strategic fundraising priorities.
For 130 years, LSE’s pioneering research has improved lives, reduced poverty, and expanded the frontiers of human knowledge. We count 21 Nobel prize winners among our alumni and staff and 40 international leaders, past and present, across 27 countries. LSE was named ‘University of the Year 2025’ by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, which also ranked it the UK’s top university.
To deliver on our mission of being the leading social science institution with the greatest global impact, LSE has embarked on its largest ever philanthropic campaign – Shaping the World – aiming to raise at least £750 million from our global community of supporters. We are well on our way to achieving this.
This essential role will sit within LSE’s Philanthropy and Global Engagement Division (PAGE) which serves, engages and works in partnership with alumni and friends, staff and students, volunteers, donors, global partners, organisations and the wider community to further the strategic aims of the School. These reciprocal relationships increase engagement with LSE across the world and increase philanthropic income and strategic partnerships for agreed School priorities.
What we ask of you
- An excellent track record in soliciting, securing and stewarding gifts from individuals at the four-figure level and above
- A high aptitude for relationship management; able to navigate working in a large organisation with multiple internal and external stakeholders, represent the Mid-Level team within PAGE, and work with academics in specialised areas.

Job description
Join a respected charity at a pivotal time and help grow vital community income. This is a hands-on role for a motivated fundraiser who enjoys building relationships, delivering events, and providing outstanding supporter care. Working on a hybrid basis with two days per week in London, you’ll play a key part in connecting local communities with a cause that makes a tangible difference.
About the Role:
You will lead and coordinate community fundraising, driving income through events, challenges and supporter-led initiatives. Working closely with local supporters, groups and partners, you will ensure every interaction is well-managed, recorded and maximised for long-term engagement. This temporary role will have a direct impact on the charity’s ability to fund services and reach more people in need.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver and evaluate a calendar of community fundraising events and activities.
* Support, steward and motivate individual fundraisers, community groups and corporate supporters to maximise their fundraising potential.
* Manage and update the CRM and donor database to ensure accurate recording of supporter interactions, income and event activity.
* Coordinate logistics for community events, including venues, materials, volunteer support and risk assessments.
* Develop tailored fundraising materials and communications to engage and retain community supporters.
* Provide timely, high-quality supporter care, responding to enquiries and ensuring a positive experience at every touchpoint.
* Monitor income and activity performance, producing regular reports and insights to inform future planning.
* Collaborate with internal teams to align community fundraising with wider campaigns and brand messaging.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in community fundraising or a closely related fundraising role.
* Demonstrable track record in planning, managing and delivering fundraising events and activities.
* Strong CRM and donor database management skills, with experience of maintaining accurate records and generating reports.
* Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a wide range of supporters.
* Strong organisational and time-management abilities, capable of managing multiple projects across a wide geographic area.
* High standard of written and verbal communication, with confident presentation skills.
* Comfortable working to income targets and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience working within a charity or non-profit fundraising team.
* Familiarity with fundraising regulations and best practice in supporter care.
* Experience of virtual or hybrid fundraising events and digital engagement.
* Knowledge of the North Midlands and Scotland fundraising landscape and local networks.
* Competence in using email marketing tools or basic design software to create supporter communications.
