This is an exciting and strategic leadership opportunity at a time of transformation and investment in Keech's fundraising. Reporting to the Associate Director of Supporter Engagement, the new Head of Public Giving will lead a passionate growing team focused on community fundraising, events and engagement, with a clear mission to acquire, retain and inspire supporters through powerful, data-led journeys.

As the Head of Public Giving, you'll manage three direct reports and lead a wider team of eleven. You'll be responsible for a gross income budget of over £750,000 and for delivering impactful, integrated strategies that grow supporter engagement, drive income, and embrace innovation-particularly through digital and automation. This is a key leadership role, responsible not only for income generation but for shaping the supporter experience across a range of touchpoints, ensuring the long-term sustainability of public giving programmes.

You'll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams-including Head of Personal Giving, Marketing & Communications, Quality & Data, and the wider Fundraising directorate-to ensure the successful implementation of the new fundraising strategy and continued alignment with Keech's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver the Public Giving operational plan in line with the overall fundraising strategy to achieve sustainable income growth.
• Lead and inspire a high-performing team of specialists across events, community fundraising and supporter engagement.
• Create and implement integrated supporter journeys and acquisition strategies using digital tools, automation and data insights to maximise donor lifetime value.
• Oversee the planning and delivery of public fundraising events and campaigns that are engaging, innovative and high-impact.
• Use CRM systems and automation tools to drive supporter insight, campaign effectiveness, and fundraising performance.
• Lead on budget planning, reporting, forecasting and performance tracking, ensuring income and expenditure are optimised.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless integration of marketing, communications, and data strategies within fundraising.
• Stay ahead of trends in mass market fundraising, digital engagement and supporter experience, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements:

• Significant experience in a similar fundraising leadership role, with a proven record in mass market or public fundraising, including community and events.
• Experience leading high-performing teams, driving income growth and supporter engagement through insight-driven strategies.
• Excellent knowledge of digital fundraising, CRM optimisation and marketing automation, with strong data analysis and budget management skills.
• A strategic thinker and hands-on leader, capable of managing complex projects, motivating teams and engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Passionate about the mission of Keech Hospice and committed to values-led, inclusive leadership.

The Role 

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Digital Marketing Officer to support our Marketing & Communications Manager. In this role, you will be involved in the development and delivery of a variety of digital marcomms campaigns, with a specific responsibility to support the Fundraising Team in their goal to increase donor engagement, retention and acquisition.

You will support the MarComms Manager to reach our audiences through a variety of channels, including email marketing, social media and ads, website content and impactful storytelling. This role requires a creative thinker, a data-driven approach and a passion for making a difference. Flexibility and a positive attitude are essential. Great writing and graphic design skills are required, as is an interest/aptitude for photography/videography.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning – Fundraising Team

• Work with Fundraising and MarComms Teams to develop and execute a multi-channel digital fundraising strategy.
• Identify target audiences and craft tailored messaging for different donor segments.
• Develop, track and report on KPIs to measure the effectiveness of digital fundraising efforts, using insights to refine strategies.

Campaign Management

• Support the MarComms Manager to plan and deliver integrated campaigns across PR, website, social media and ads, and email marketing.
• Work with the Senior Digital Marketing Officer to align campaigns with wider digital marketing activities.
• Optimise campaigns using A/B testing, donor insights and performance data to improve engagement and conversion rates.
• Work with external agencies on lead generation campaigns to increase the database.

Digital Content Creation - General

• Support the MarComms Manager and Senior Digital Marketing Officer with the development of digital content (with primary responsibility for fundraising), including:
  • Email campaigns and newsletters.
  • Social media content and ads.
  • Impact stories, video content and blog posts.
  • Website donation pages and landing pages.
• Ensure content is engaging, on-brand and optimised for conversions.
• Social media planning, management, creation and report.

Email Marketing

• Fundraising:
  • Work with the Data and Stewardship Officer to grow our donor email lists.
  • Develop and implement email sequences for donor acquisition, engagement and retention.
  • Monitor and optimise open rates, click-through rates and conversions.

General

• • Work with the Data and Stewardship Officer to keep MailChimp and Donorfy databases up-to-date with data which is cleansed and shared on a regular basis.
  • Work with the MarComms Manager to:
    • Grow our other email lists.
    • Develop bimonthly (eventually monthly) email newsletters to all segments.
    • Monitor and optimise email marketing activity.

Digital Ads

• Work with the MarComms Manager to manage google ads and drive the acquisition of donors and other leads.
• Work with the Senior Digital Marketing Officer to manage social ads.

Donor Journey & Stewardship

• Work with the Data and Stewardship Officer to:
  • support the Fundraising Team in developing donor engagement plans, including welcome journeys, thank-you campaigns and impact updates.
  • Develop automated email journeys and donor touchpoints to improve retention.

Other

• Work with the MarComms Manager and Senior Digital Marketing Officer to monitor Google Analytics, Google Ads, Social Media and Social Ads, UTM tracking and campaign dashboards to measure and report on impact.
• Ensure all digital fundraising activities align with GDPR compliance and industry best practices.
• Stay ahead of digital trends and suggest new opportunities for innovation.
• Support the Senior Digital Marketing Officer with the production or updating of marketing collateral (e.g. leaflets, posters, banners, presentations, etc).
• Support regional fundraising PR and media efforts, including content for press releases, coordinating media visits and tracking coverage.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the charity’s fundraising efforts.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in digital fundraising, digital marketing, or online donor engagement.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful digital fundraising campaigns.
• Experience managing social media, paid social ads and digital advertising campaigns.
• Strong copywriting and content creation skills, including for email, social media and blogs.
• Knowledge of email marketing platforms and CRM/donor databases.
• Experience analysing Google Analytics, social media insights and campaign data to drive decisions.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
• Commitment to FareShare Midlands’ mission and values.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or PR (or equivalent qualification and experience).

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Accountability for delivering income through our high-value partners while driving partnership development and ensuring an excellent supporter experience.

· Ensure all activity and use of team resources are focused on taking Alzheimer’s Research UK towards a cure. This means activity should align with our ten-year strategy and organisational priorities.

· Manage annual income, expenditure budgets and targets for corporate partnerships alongside the SPDM. Prepare income projections and monitor income and expenditure, as well as developing measurable KPIs that translate into tangible partnership benefits.

· Ensure effective reporting of wider partnership impact specifically non-financial benefits.

Leading the team

· Empower the team to provide sector leading customer service to our corporate partners to grow all partnerships to support ARUK’s strategic priorities.

Communications

· Ensure your team maintains a good understanding of the new business pipeline to plan resources accordingly.

What we are looking for:

· Excellent partnership development and relationship management skills in either a charity or corporate role.  Preferably managing six-figure charitable partnerships.

· Building and growing high-level relationships through networking, negotiation, and influence both internally and externally. 

· Ability to manage income and expenditure budgets.

· Good planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.

· Confidence working with computers; knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Excellent communication skills, with the ability and confidence to present to corporate audiences.

· Ability to independently manage projects from beginning to end.

· Experience managing a team.

· You work well as part of a team but are proactive and can work independently.

· A confident and friendly manner; would feel at ease representing the charity to high-level external contacts.

· Willingness and ability to travel independently in the UK and to work outside of regular office hours when needed.

Role Overview

· Support the development and growth of the impact and scale of the West Midlands Multibank including building relationships with potential referral and donation partners

Purpose
This vital role works alongside the Head of Philanthropy to help build and grow our philanthropic partnerships over the next five years and beyond. As well as building upon current relationships, you will identify, research and cultivate relationships with charitable Trusts and Foundations as well as major donors to raise both restricted and unrestricted income.

Responsibilities and areas of work
This important role will focus primarily on Trust Fundraising but will also encompass Major Donor Fundraising. It will seek to identify new high-level donors, as well to develop existing relationships with our generous supporters. Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, other team members and external consultants, and in collaboration with our colleagues in the
Programmes Team, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will focus on building our trust portfolio – with a focus on donors giving £5k - £100k per year

1. New business acquisition:
a) Researching new individuals and trusts to build a prospect list for future funders, using our database (Salesforce), available lists and external databases. Assessing the potential for active, lapsed and prospective donors to support CBM and recording accordingly.
b) Recommending tactical next steps for engagement with new individuals and trusts, for approval by the Head of Philanthropy.
2. Stewardship and cultivation of current and active donors:
a) Developing and implementing tailored stewardship plans, so that individuals / trusts are engaged in a bespoke manner, and that application and reporting deadlines are met.
b) Leading on the production and submission of applications, proposals and initial approaches (by post, email and, to a lesser degree, phone) and following up as required.
c) Reporting to donors in a formal or informal way, as appropriate, to ensure they are kept up to date with CBM and project developments                                                                                                                                                               d)Organising, facilitating and attending face-to-face and online meetings with high-level donors/ trusts, including organising dates and venues, and creating Meeting Briefs for all attendees to ensure positive outcomes.

3. Proposal and Report Writing
a) Designing and crafting compelling proposals, reports, project timelines and budgets that meet the bespoke needs of donors whilst meeting the needs of CBM and our Programme delivery colleagues, within agreed deadlines.
b) Working with members of the Programmes Team to ensure the accuracy of proposals /reports, and with members of the Fundraising & Communications Team to ensure consistency of messaging.
c) Working with the Philanthropy & Partnerships Team to develop new projects/ themes/
appeals for potential projects.

4. Other Team Responsibilities:
a) Helping to develop the Annual Forecast Budget for the Team, and providing updates on the pipeline and progress against targets.
b) Ensuring all information, donor activity is recorded and kept up-to-date on our database to fully-inform any approaches / meetings.
c) Providing proof-reading and copy-editing support to colleagues.
d) Monitoring the activity of related organisations and the fundraising sector, identifying changes, predicting trends and making recommendations as necessary.

Overall purpose of the role
As part of a multi-faceted and busy fundraising team, the Events Product Development Lead will take a significant role in strategically planning and delivering a portfolio of new fundraising events to raise funds for Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charities. The Snowdrop Project is the first organisation in the UK to provide long-term, community based support to survivors of modern slavery and exploitation. We aim to empower survivors of modern slavery and exploitation to recover from their experiences and thrive. The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an internationally renowned environmental charity, a world-leading eco centre, and one of the foremost providers of postgraduate environmental education in the UK, based near Machynlleth in Mid Wales.

CAT provides inspiration, education and training in solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

Key activities include a visitor centre where groups can see solutions in action, residential short courses, vocational training and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of sustainability-related topics, with online courses and events offered alongside in-person learning.

CAT has ambitious and transformative plans to scale up what we do in response to the climate and biodiversity emergency.  It is an exciting time to join the organisation in a senior leadership role.  We have a £25 million redevelopment plan for our Llwyngwern Quarry home, known as Cynefin.  We have secured £13.5 million from the UK and Welsh Government through the Mid Wales Growth Deal and private match funding for the first phase.  The Director of Development will lead the capital fundraising campaign as well as playing a key role in the charity’s Senior Management Team and leading and managing the fundraising, marketing and communications, and Innovation Lab teams.

The postholder will bring substantial senior fundraising experience and a strong track record in effective and collaborative leadership. In addition, experience of strategic leadership in policy and communications and marketing would be an advantage.

Hours: Full time: 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE).

Working Days: Usually Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and evening working.

Overview of Role

1. The Director of Development is responsible for developing and leading strategies to grow the organisations financial resources, supporter base and brand recognition. The Director of Development will lead and manage the fundraising team and have overall responsibility for ensuring the effective leadership and management of the Marketing and Comms and Innovation Lab teams in conjunction with the Co-Heads of Marketing and Comms and Innovation Lab Manager.

2. The Director of Development is responsible for developing and implementing a fundraising strategy, tactics and plans, to deliver the multi-million pound revenue funding needed for CAT to meet its strategic ambitions as well as to build up its reserves.

3. The Director of Development is responsible for developing and delivering the capital fundraising campaign to secure the Mid Wales Growth Deal funding and raise the private match to enable us to deliver on Cynefin.

4. The role involves developing and delivering strategies for increasing core and project-focused income from individual donors, charitable trusts, statutory sources and companies.

5. The post involves development of fundraising bids and pitches in support of the above.

6. The Director of Development will build and maintain strong and trusted senior level relationships with key stakeholders in government, funders, high net worth individuals, corporates and partner organisations

7. The post holder will lead on enhancing CAT’s approach to measurement of impact and ensuring effective systems are in place for monitoring and evaluation.

8. The post will be responsible for oversight of marketing and communications, including ensuring effective marketing and communications strategies are developed, implemented, monitored and evaluated

9. As a key member of CAT’s Senior Management Team, you will play a significant role in the overall leadership and management of the organisation and in particular you will make a significant contribution to the refinement and delivery of our vision, mission and values

10. The postholder will be responsible for setting and managing the budget.

Main Responsibilities

FUNDRAISING AND INCOME GENERATION

· Develop and clearly articulate the case for support for CAT that positions it for fundraising success. Determine the most effective way of positioning its case as compelling and unique.

 ·         Develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive fundraising programme that meets the needs of the organisation. This includes setting the overall goals and objectives for fundraising, alongside the Co-CEOs and leading the delivery of strategies to achieve these goals.

·Identify, prioritise, cultivate, solicit and steward a major gifts portfolio that includes individuals and organisations, with a particular emphasis on trusts and foundations.

· Working closely with the Co-CEO, refine and lead the organisation’s strategy for securing increased support from statutory sources, including Welsh and UK Government.

· The post will be responsible for oversight of fundraising, including ensuring effective fundraising strategies are developed and implemented for increasing giving, recruitment and retention of members and supporters including legacies, as well as for trusts and corporates.

· Work closely with the Co-CEO, Head of Eco Centre and Project Director to update on progress with funding and funders requirements.

· Lead the development of funding bids and tenders, working with the Co-CEO, Head of Eco Centre, Head of School, fundraising team, trustees and other staff across the organisation.

· Build the realisation of core funds and overhead costs into all bids and tenders.

· Work with the Co-CEO and Management Accountant to ensure strong systems are in place for the financial management of projects and the realisation of projected core and overhead contributions.

·Work collaboratively with colleagues to create robust systems for prospect research, stewardship and contact management.

·Provide regular reports on progress and results with prospects in portfolio.

·In collaboration with the Co-CEO and other senior managers, establish and maintain links with the government, business and voluntary sectors with a view to attracting financial support.

·         In collaboration with the Co-CEO oversee CAT’s external networking and advocacy, in collaboration with staff across the organisation.

·         Lead on embedding the measurement of impact of the charity’s activities across the organisation.

COMMUNICATIONS

 · Working with the CoCEO and Co-Heads of Marketing and Comms, provide leadership to the organisation’s communications and marketing work.

· Working with the Marketing and Comms team, create and oversee the delivery of a marketing and communications strategy that will enhance and build upon CAT’s excellent reputation and enable the effective marketing of CAT’s services and communication of key messages.

·Advise and support the Marketing and Comms team in relation to brand-building, campaigns, supporter mobilisation, media relations and defensive PR.

Working with the Co-Heads of Marketing and Comms and team, develop and update a record of key information and clear and consistent messages about CAT’s work, goals and achievements. Oversee the implementation of key messages in CAT’s communications.​

STRATEGIC AND MOTIVATIONAL LEADERSHIP

· Provide inspirational, collaborative and effective leadership over the range of CAT's fundraising and development activities, harnessing the commitment and knowledge of the staff.

OTHER

• To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as required by the Co-CEO.

 THE PERSON:

Candidates for the role must bring substantial experience and broad expertise and contacts in fundraising, including managing and supporting a fundraising team.

You will have a proven track record of generating significant funds through trust, statutory and corporate sources and from individual giving, preferably including prior success in leading a multi-million capital campaign as well as driving increased core income.

You will need strong experience and skills in networking and developing relationships with individuals and organisations.  Experience of leading marketing and communications work would be an advantage.

Candidates should also have a wide range of business development and communications skills including entrepreneurial flair, excellent communication and inter-personal skills and strong organisational abilities.

Empathy and enthusiasm for the purpose, values and challenges of CAT are essential, together with a collaborative and determined leadership style and the gravitas and presence to inspire confidence at a variety of levels.
