• Experience of presenting training sessions, confident talking to small to medium sized groups either face to face or via a remote setting.

This is a maternity cover contract so the successful candidate will need to get up to speed quickly, taking over responsibility for delivering the new Major Donor fundraising plan. The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing high level relationships and a track record of securing high value (5 and 6 figure) donations or new business. You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and be a confident communicator and able to build trusted relationships swiftly.  As this is still a new role, in a relatively young charity, your ideas will help shape this work and you will play a crucial part in driving the growth and sustainability of our fundraising in the UK.

You might have existing experience working with high-value donors, however we also welcome applications from candidates who have transferable experience from other areas - for example a sales or account management background.

• Proactively research, identify, and cultivate a list of new potential donors (high-net-worth individuals), building a pipeline of people to approach for support.

• Build and strengthen relationships with both existing and new supporters - developing and personally managing and inspiring a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, soliciting 5 and 6-figure gifts.

• Lead a programme of relevant cultivation and networking events, including receptions and lunches, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements

Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.

The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.

The Smart Works service is delivered in London, Greater Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds. Over the past ten years, Smart Works has helped over 35,000 women. It is our mission that any woman who needs our service should be able to find her way to a Smart Works centre.

About the role

Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require vital cornerstone funding and are seeking to establish a Major Gifts function, to secure donations from high-net worth individuals, that will enable us to achieve our mission and help thousands of women to transform their lives.

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Director of Partnerships, you will work closely with the CEO, Board, and our network of 750 volunteers, to develop a giving strategy that will engage and grow a new pool of crucial supporters for Smart Works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, as well as conducting prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship materials, and securing five-figure and six-figure repeat gifts.

We seek an excellent communicator, with significant experience in influencing, negotiating and exceeding set targets. Creativity, an understanding of women’s fashion, and knowledge of wealth circles would also be advantageous.

The Fundraising and Partnerships team are based in London. This is a hybrid role, working from a London centre at least twice per week, with the opportunity to work across our North, West and South London centres. Some evening and weekend work is required to lead on philanthropic fundraising and support wider partnership team events.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, the successful candidate will:

• Lead the development and delivery of a giving programme, building a pipeline and carrying out proactive prospect research
• Secure five-figure and six-figure multi-year gifts from major donors, to exceed income targets
• Research and identify prospective major donors who could support Smart Works, through existing warm networks and via outreach to cold audiences
• Work collaboratively across teams and functions to produce creative and compelling propositions and materials to secure both core and restricted funding
• Represent Smart Works to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness
• Develop cultivation events considering regional hotspots
• Acknowledge, thank and recognize donors appropriate to their level of support and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Manage donor database and reporting
• Support Smart Works’ local centres across the UK and share learnings and guidance to help others build their Major Gifts potential

Skills, knowledge and personal attributes

Essential Criteria

• A track record of cultivating strong and positive relationships with multiple, senior and high-net worth individuals
• Demonstrable experience of making the ask, and an ability to support senior staff, volunteers and trustees to do so
• Interpersonal verbal communication and presentation skills, in order to foster strong relationships with donors and networks alike
• Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact

Role summary

You’ll be raising funds primarily for School Plates, the flagship UK programme, to help school menus to become healthier and more planet-friendly by increasing the quality, quantity, and uptake of plant-based food. 

The programme is growing rapidly. Now working with 70 major school caterers feeding over 1 million children daily, we’ve roughly doubled our reach in each of the last two years. With a new educational programme to teach children about their food choices launching this year, and our School Plates Awards and Global Plant-based School Food Network both expanding considerably, there is a need to significantly grow our income.

The role is primarily a combination of major donor and corporate fundraising to complement our existing trusts and foundations fundraising. You’ll be an experienced relationship builder, a driven and enthusiastic self-starter, and an excellent project manager. Responsibilities

• Lead on UK fundraising, focusing on major donors and corporates.

• Develop a creative 3-year fundraising strategy, and draft annual and quarterly objectives.

• Research, identify, and secure new major donors, and develop individual cultivation strategies for prospective donors, moving them along a prospect pipeline.

• Support the stewardship of existing major donor relationships, keeping them informed and involved in our work to secure their continued support. 

• Draft theories of change, cases for support, and other relevant written materials.

Freedom for Animals is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing and Brand Communications Manager to work with the Campaigns and Fundraising functions to develop and grow our digital channels. The successful candidate will be a passionate and creative individual with excellent knowledge of creating and disseminating key messages about our work to a range of audiences as well as strong brand skills to communicate the brand values of the organisation across all marketing activity.

Purpose of Role:

To work with the Director, other staff and the Board of Trustees to develop and deliver an effective digital marketing and branded communications strategy to ensure Freedom for Animals is able to deliver its campaign objectives and build its brand and ensure brand loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

● To ensure all material adheres to the brand values, identity and marketing strategy, aligning this with the strategic plan for the organisation

● Plan, develop and schedule creative and innovative social media content to reach Freedom for Animals’ key audiences across a range of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok

● Work with Fundraising Manager and Campaigns Manager to produce high quality content for website, e-newsletters, e-zines including key messages and high quality infographics

● Monitor and analyse Freedom for Animals social media platforms and create a set of metrics to measure social media success

● Maximise Search Engine Optimisation to ensure our key messages reach as wide an audience as possible

● Oversee brand compliance, ensuring all staff adhere to brand guidelines

In this role, you’ll raise income from major donors, trusts, foundations, and corporate supporters, as well as supporting broader team efforts. Key responsibilities include identifying, engaging, and stewarding potential and existing donors, developing proposals and impact reports, and managing a portfolio of donors. You will also lead the annual Christmas mailing and expand the Summer mailing to increase support from mid-level donors and new trusts and foundations. You’ll be responsible for achieving your own income targets and objectives, ensure compliance with fundraising best practices, and report on milestones and KPIs. Ideal candidates will be thoughtful, driven, and passionate about amplifying fundraising efforts and celebrating the charity's impact.
