Role: Deputy Charity Director & Fundraiser
Location: Offices based at the Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover, with some flexibility for hybrid working
Salary: circa £50,000 per annum depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, permanent (35 hours per week)
Amongst other criteria, the successful candidate will have:
- A proven track record of successful income generation across multiple fundraising streams, ideally including major donors, events, trusts and foundations, legacies, corporate partnerships and community fundraising.
- A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to spot opportunities, shape compelling cases for support, and deliver results.
- The confidence to operate at a senior level and deputise for the Charity Director when needed.

The Community Fundraiser (West Midlands) is responsible for providing support and guidance to fundraisers within their communities to achieve their ambitions and ultimately raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research. The successful candidate will be joining at an incredibly exciting time at The Passage, with challenge events having grown in profile and prominence over the past 12-18 months - with an incredible 50 people signed up for the Hackney Half this year, it is the start of something exciting for the fundraising team.
The postholder will:
- Lead the delivery and development of The Passage's Challenge Events strategy, expanding the portfolio and growing net income.
- Research, test, and implement new events to diversify fundraising opportunities and attract new supporters.
- Provide tailored stewardship to individuals and groups, enhancing supporter journeys and retention.
- Collaborate with internal teams to drive corporate participation, deliver compelling marketing campaigns, and support volunteer-led fundraising.
- Oversee third-party relationships, ensure value for money, and manage event safety through robust risk assessments
- Produce and manage the Challenge Events income and expenditure annual plan and budget.
About You:
You will bring passion, ambition and energy about the work of The Passage combined with the essential skills to build and deliver a brilliant calendar of challenge events. This will include:
- Proven track record and knowledge in delivering third-party and bespoke challenge events, including participant recruitment and supporter stewardship.
- Experience in recruiting engaged and passionate fundraisers/participants and building long-term relationships through excellent supporter engagement.
- Skilled in planning and executing mass participation and third-party events, often in collaboration with external agencies.
- Strong ability to use data, insight, and market trends to inform strategy and identify growth opportunities.
- Demonstrated success in setting budgets, achieving income targets, and driving portfolio growth.
- Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce and experience working within the charity sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Events Officer responsible for devising, delivering, and growing a high-impact events programme that drives income and enhances brand awareness, overseeing event logistics, managing risk, digital fundraising initiatives, and working with internal and external stakeholders to maximise engagement and return on investment.
The Senior Events Officer will lead a dynamic and high-profile events programme, through a strategic and considered approach. You will be responsible for ensuring exceptional supporter experiences, developing new income opportunities, and ensuring Shaftesbury’s brand is represented professionally across all events. This includes sports and challenge events, special events with high profile attendees (such as HRH engagements and major donor functions), and strategic event partnerships.
With a creative and strategic mindset, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in leading, managing, and delivering successful fundraising events, including sports and challenge events and ideally high-profile events, including working with major donors, VIPs, or royal engagements.
- Financial acumen and an analytical approach with experience in budget management, financial planning, and meeting income targets, and the ability to analyse event performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations for growth.
- Your ability to develop and execute events that align with organisational brand and engagement objectives, managing relationships with corporate sponsors, event partners and key stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple events simultaneously, understanding of risk assessments, health & safety policies, and all event compliance requirements.
- Strong digital literacy, including website content management, online ticketing platforms, and social media engagement, and proficient in using event management software, CRM systems (e.g. Raisers Edge, Salesforce), and digital fundraising tools.

IPSEA is the leading charity in the field of special educational needs and disability (SEND) law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. We also provide training on the SEND legal framework, and we influence policy at both a local and national level.

IPSEA has a proven track record of successfully securing grants, and this is a new role designed to help strengthen and grow IPSEA’s income from charitable Trusts and Foundations.
