Interim Fundraising Officer 

Fundraising & Engagement | Remote (UK-based)

Salary: £18,000 per annum (0.6 FTE, based on a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000)

Hours: Part time (21 hours per week to be worked over 3 or 4 days)

Location: Home-based in the UK with occasional paid travel to London

Contract: Six weekly rolling contract. This is a temporary position providing cover during a period of long-term leave within our team.

About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic, organised fundraiser with excellent project management skills who can work independently to deliver key cash fundraising programmes across our fundraising portfolio. This includes appeals, mid-value donor stewardship, publications and merchandise. Alongside helping to grow income, this role supports the development of strong, long-term relationships with our supporters, ensuring they feel valued, informed and connected to the difference their fundraising makes.

The Royal School of Needlework

The Royal School of Needlework (RSN) is the International Centre of Excellence for the Art of Hand Embroidery. Based at the historic Hampton Court Palace, we have been dedicated to preserving and innovating in the art of hand embroidery since 1872. Summary of position

The Royal School of Needlework (RSN) is seeking a highly motivated and organised Fundraising Officer to join our team and provide administrative support for our fundraising activities. The Fundraising Officer will play a key role in generating vital income and helping the organisation achieve its fundraising goals by assisting with donor relations, event planning, grant research, data management, and campaign coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Donor Support and Stewardship:
  • Become a ‘super’ user of the CRM/database.
  • Maintain donor records in the CRM/database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Help with the acknowledgment process, including sending thank-you letters and recognition communications to donors.
  • Assist in coordinating donor communications and outreach campaigns (e.g., newsletters, appeals, and stewardship materials).
• Event Support:
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for fundraising events, including venue coordination, volunteer management, invitations, and guest lists.
  • Help with event set-up, registration, and follow-up tasks.
  • Assist in preparing event materials, such as programs, signage, and donation forms.
• Grant Research and Application Support:
  • Assist in researching potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
  • Help prepare grant proposal materials and ensure submission deadlines are met.
  • Track and report on the status of grant applications and funding received.
• Campaign Coordination:
  • Support the planning and execution of online and offline fundraising campaigns, including peer-to-peer campaigns, crowdfunding, and direct mail appeals.
  • Assist with creating and managing campaign content, such as donation pages, emails, and social media posts.
  • Help monitor campaign progress and gather data to report on results.
• Data Entry and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of donations, donor interactions, and event participation.
  • Provide regular reports on fundraising progress, event outcomes, and donor engagement to the fundraising team.
  • Assist in preparing data for end-of-year reports and audits.
• Administrative and Operational Support:
  • Provide general administrative support to the fundraising team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and handling correspondence.
  • Help with office management tasks, such as ordering supplies and maintaining filing systems.Qualifications:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in a fundraising, administrative, or nonprofit role is a plus, but not required.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience or qualifications
• Strong interest in education, heritage, fundraising, and community engagement.

Skills:

• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Beacon, Access/ThankQ, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with donors, volunteers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Outreach and pipeline development: Support proactive outreach to corporate partners, funders and investors through research and identification to build a strong pipeline of opportunities that are successfully managed through a tailored engagement approach.
• New business and proposal development: Support the development of high-quality partnership proposals, drafting compelling narratives and supporting materials aligned to potential funder interests and organisational requirements.
• Partnership and stakeholder management: Support the management of existing partnerships, ensuring strong relationships are developed and maintained and that outputs are delivered as agreed, assisting in monitoring, comms and impact reporting.
• Events representation, networking and engagement: Attend and represent the Association at events, conferences and networking opportunities, helping to raise the profile of National Landscapes as an investment opportunity within the nature and environmental sector.
• Income diversification trend and insight monitoring: Support the exploration of new income streams and partnership models, including private finance and blended finance approaches, monitoring market trends, funding opportunities (both corporate and philanthropic) and competitor activity to inform strategy.
• Team support and collaboration:Work closely with the Head of Partnerships and Fundraising, the Development Team and wider Association Team to deliver programme priorities and contribute to a collaborative, supportive and high-performing team culture.

We are recruiting for a Regional Fundraising In Memoriam Officer to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for in-person team meetings and events.

This is an exciting new opportunity to join our team, as Regional Fundraising In Memoriam Officer you will lead the promotion and strategic development of our in-memory offering, Forget Me Not (FMN) Funds, to maximise sustainable income growth. By applying specialist knowledge and insight, you will expand reach and improve performance, embedding FMN Funds into everyday conversations with supporters.

You will also enable and empower colleagues across the wider team to effectively utilise this resource, supporting more families and friends as they experience grief as part of their dementia journey, while driving increased income. You will be developing and strengthening relationships with funeral directors to enhance stewardship of supporters who establish FMN Funds through this channel, as well as maximising the significant opportunities presented by offline funeral collections (FC).

In this role, you will be seen as the organisational expert in FMN Funds and Funeral Collections, driving income growth from this key stream by championing the offer across the organisation, ensuring it is widely understood, effectively delivered, and consistently optimised. You will develop compelling stewardship journeys to deepen supporter engagement, maximise retention, and ensure that all activity and messaging is culturally appropriate and relevant across all three nations.

About you
Joining us, you’ll have demonstrable experience working within the In Memory sector, including audience engagement. You’ll combine this with your experience of marketing and communications, including working cross collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes and your experience managing day-to-day relationships with external agencies.

- Acting as the point of contact and Trusted Expert for all FMN Fund and Funeral Collection activity for Regional Fundraising, and wider teams.
- Ensuring all internal and external relationships are developed and maintained to deliver the best possible result, including agencies, suppliers, and our internal marketing and press teams; implementing improvements where required.
- Championing the use of FMN Funds across the directorate, including Regional Fundraising.
- Planning, developing and executing promotional campaigns for Alzheimer’s Society FMN funds, including warm and paid marketing.
- Staying at the forefront of market trends, competitor products and the fundraising sector to drive improvements in the event participant experience.

This temporary position offers dedicated support within the community fundraising team, focusing on key activities that drive engagement and income over an initial period of three months.
