Racing Welfare is seeking a Head of Fundraising to lead it’s high-performing and dynamic fundraising team. Forming part of the charity’s senior management team, this is a key role in the organisation which would suit a progressive and highly motivated individual to help Racing Welfare achieve its ambitious plans for the future.
As Head of Fundraising you will report at board level, attending Trustee meetings throughout the year. You will be responsible for steering the strategic direction of the charity’s growing fundraising portfolio, including a variety of fundraising events and initiatives, empowering your team to innovate new sources of charitable income.
Other key responsibilities include:
- devising and implementing the charity’s fundraising strategy, in conjunction with the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, and ensuring that all appropriate measures are taken to ensure its success;
- evaluating campaigns and managing budgets;
- line managing the fundraising team, ensuring their personal and professional development;
- supervising applications to trusts and foundations;
- overseeing our partnerships function to develop sustainable and mutual benefit corporate associations and relationships
You will need:
- demonstrable experience of working within fundraising or commercial management/marketing and recruiting donors/sponsors;
- to be a motivational leading and people manager;
- experience of managing budgets, both income and expenditure;
- excellent communication skills and be highly driven.
Experience of the horseracing industry is desirable.
The role is home based with flexibility to work from our Newmarket office if desired, although some travelling should be expected across the UK including some evening and weekend work.

The National House Project takes a ground-breaking approach through its commitment to enabling young people leaving care to achieve successful independence. The Project was co-designed with young people and works on cooperative principles through which adults and young people leaving care work together to refurbish properties that become their homes. We would like the successful candidate to be passionate about our work, with an ability to engage the young people our work reaches.
The first Local House Project was set-up in 2015 in Stoke-on-Trent with funding from the Dept for Education (DfE). We are a rapidly growing organisation with plans to develop nationally. This role will involve the establishment and development of a new fundraising team (1 WTE initially). The fundraising team will be supported by our administrative staff, and external fundraising and marketing & communications consultants initially, whilst we seek to embed our newly developed fundraising strategy. As the team grows, this new role offers exciting progression routes involving both line management and hands-on delivery across Major Giving, Corporate supporters and grant giving Trusts & Foundations.
You will be based at the NHP office in Crewe a minimum of 2 days per week. While your remaining time will be flexible, you will be expected to travel to Local House Projects and attend meetings with donors and partners across the country on a regular basis.

Young Roots has grown significantly over the last three years and our income has almost trebled. The majority of our income comes from Trusts, Foundations and other grants. The Fundraising Manager will focus on diversifying our funding, in particular through growing our levels of individual giving; building links with our local communities in Croydon, Brent and beyond to improve community and events fundraising; and developing relationships with corporate partners.

Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust (HRCST) is a charity based near Falmouth in Cornwall with a proud track record over 22 years of teaching children and young people to develop new skills and confidence through learning to sail and other water based activities. Over 600 children participate each year, the majority at no charge and who otherwise would not have this opportunity because of circumstances, despite living close to the sea.
The charity is now at an exciting stage of its development looking to expand and build its influence for the next generation. It has recently secured funding to construct an accessible watersports centre at Trevassack Lake on the Lizard peninsula. Targeting many more youngsters including those with physical, behavioural, and educational disabilities, this hugely rewarding activity includes building a fully accessible Learning Centre and several residential lodges for accompanying families. This new facility will be open in July 2021.
HRCST is now seeking to appoint a full-time Fundraising Manager to support the CEO in raising revenue and capital appeal funding to support the short- and medium-term financial objectives of the charity. The successful candidate will have the experience and personal enthusiasm to translate financial objectives into operational plans and by researching and developing Trust, Corporate, Community, Events, and Legacy funding opportunities, including the preparation of applications.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Fundraising Manager is responsible for attracting income to support the work and financial objectives of the charity. They will develop sustainable income streams to cover annual running costs and the current capital appeal, including public and third sector grants, sponsorship, and donations.

TalentEd is a fast-growing charity dedicated to creating a fair education system. We match retired teachers with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to boost their confidence, aspirations, and attainment through tailored tuition. We are in the middle of an exciting growth journey – we were recently selected as one of only 33 providers to deliver the government’s flagship National Tutoring Programme. In 2019-20 we doubled the number of students we worked with from last year, and we are on track to double again this year.
Fundraising is a core part of our model. We fundraise to support our core costs, and to develop innovative programmes like the Maths Masterclass Tutorials. The role will involve managing existing partnerships with funders such as Garfield Weston or Nesta, as well as bringing in new funders. This year’s fundraising target is £250,000, and we have ambitious plans to grow that in future years.

About the Sickle Cell Society (SCS)
We are the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by a sickle cell disorder to improve their overall quality of life.
We are a small, closely knit team of 14 skilled and highly committed staff. Having recently refreshed our 2020-23 strategy, our aim is to invest in the capacity and resources of our Fundraising team to further diversify our fundraising sources and continue to assist with medical and social research regarding SCD globally.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to increase fundraising income and awareness of the Sickle Cell Society through the implementation of our Fundraising Strategy (2020-23). Working closely with our Fundraising and Database Officers, Communications & Social Media Officer, and our Finance and Administration Manager, you will take a hands-on approach to donor stewardship and fundraising development and delivery.
About You
We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional with demonstrable experience of raising income, particularly in community fundraising or individual giving. A gifted communicator and networker, you will have an understanding and appreciation of the importance of donor cultivation and the commercial acumen to identify new opportunities.

You will have excellent relationship management and communication skills coupled with the drive and skill to identify and secure new opportunities. You will have a successful track record in researching, identifying and securing significant (five figure + ) and multi-year funding from a range of restricted and unrestricted sources including charitable trusts, foundations, corporate and/or high value individuals. In addition, you will have strong experience of writing high quality, robust applications (including budgets) and compelling narrative reports.

The role oversees the creation and delivery of a fundraising strategy, which includes appeals, trusts, legacies, key partner programme, and major donor events – generating a non-membership income of c£800,000 pa. The role includes communicating relationally with major donors and implementing the giving team’s strategy for supporter relations.
You’ll have experience of high-value charitable fundraising (trusts and individuals) and managing and administrating campaigns – or other relevant experience.
You’ll be an excellent communicator, relating well to people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures and you’ll be at ease communicating evangelical values and principles in a philanthropic context.
You’ll be organised, self-motivated and able to write clearly and concisely.
Most importantly, you’ll be actively engaged in an evangelical church and be comfortable sharing about Jesus and your relationship with him, applying your faith to your areas of expertise.

NSPCC Supporter Development Fundraising Executive
SALARY: £19,000 to £20,315, plus £3,366 Inner London weighting
Permanent 35 hours a week
The NSPCC is looking for a passionate, detail orientated and well-organised individual to join the Individual Giving - Supporter Development Team and support them to engage NSPCC supporters and inspire them to give money, maximising the opportunities by which the fundraising activity of the Individual Giving department can contribute to the NSPCC’s mission of ending cruelty to children.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development of effective and persuasive supporter communications using creative and engaging methods of communication, including written, verbal and electronic mechanisms.
- Proactively taking steps to improve knowledge and understanding of supporters through developing the NSPCC’s relationship with them, evaluating that relationship on an on-going basis and making necessary adjustments.
- Carrying out research through a range of sources, including the Internet, Intranet, publications and other external contacts, including other charities, in order to obtain relevant information that can contribute to fundraising communications such as mailings and email.
- Providing a consistent point of contact for agencies and other suppliers who support Individual Giving fundraising, ensuring appropriate agreements are in place and that goods/services are delivered as agreed.
- Carrying out team and campaign administrative tasks, keeping all relevant documentation and files up to date.
Candidates for the position should ideally have experience of:
- Success in delivering results as set out in a team or departmental plan.
- Success in a customer led environment such as fundraising, sales or marketing.
- Using email, the internet and Windows based software packages, including word processing and spreadsheets, to deliver tasks and projects.
