Fundraising underpins all of the charity's work and is crucial to their success. As Individual Giving Lead you will be responsible for driving donations and supporter engagement using personal, story-led communications.

Some key responsibilities will include;

* Managing individual giving activity - including activities such asregular giving, one-off donations and appeals, digital fundraising and payroll giving
* Developing and implementing a supporter engagement programme - create a multi-channel communication programme to optimise supporter retention and deepen engagement
* Leading on supporter appeals - working with other function leads to ensure activity is integrated and optimised
* Managing challenge event activity - including promoting and allocating National Eczema Society Gold Bond places in key events
* General management activities - such as budgeting, planning, strategy development

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Experience as a news journalist or working in media handling, obtaining media coverage in an array of platforms/outlets.
• Strong contacts in the media (journalists, editors etc) to generate hard hitting news stories.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt language for a variety of audiences and media.
• Ability to be reactive when dealing with breaking news stories to maximise SCUK coverage
• Strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to set priorities and evaluate progress.
• A sound grasp of what different media outlets want and an understanding of where to seek out newsworthy stories

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. About You

You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. We are looking for a Development Events Manager to join the National Theatre Development Team.

The purpose of the role

The Development Events Manager’s role is to organise a portfolio of events and support of larger annual fundraising events. They are responsible for creating and delivering a variety of events that align with supporter benefits, in order to engage potential supporters and further develop relationships with existing supporters. The role works collaboratively with the fundraising and membership teams in the department, to best meet the needs of supporters and maximise income.

Role purpose

This role would suit someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a charity finance role, who has experience or knowledge of all the core accounts department processes and some understanding of different charity income streams. Responsibilities

• Day to day management and systems administration of Xero accounting software, expenses software (ExpenseIn), and other linked financial applications.
• Carry out monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, debtors and creditors, and set up payment runs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts journals (prepayments, accruals, depreciation, deferred and accrued income) and control account reconciliations.
• Being the systems administrator for the Fundraising CRM system (Donorfy) and linked platforms and applications (e.g. JustGiving, Stripe, EventBright).
• Database management of Donorfy and linked platforms and applications.
• Reconcile data between Donorfy and Xero, and where necessary, with other linked platforms and applications.
• Ensure Gift Aid returns are correctly submitted to HMRC (via Donorfy)
• Support with the development and implementation of new systems and procedures.
• Provide training and induction to new joiners in using Donorfy and ExpenseIn as well as for any other relevant platforms and applications.
• Business partnering - provide day to day support to the wider organisation with finance and fundraising system queries, payment information, and supplier queries.
• Working with budget holders to provide transaction reports, income and expenditure reports, and updates on payments from finance and fundraising systems to assist them to manage their project budgets.
• Assist Finance Director and Fundraising team where necessary with financial reporting to funders.

Skills/ experience

Essential

• Proven experience in all areas of accounts - purchase and sales ledger, banking and cash management, basic management accounts.
• Experience of Xero or similar cloud-based finance system.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly excel and an ability to quickly learn new systems.

Desirable

• Accountancy qualification or studying for (e.g. AAT, ACCA).

BACKGROUND

RISE (Reimagining Industry to Support Equality) is a new collaboration focused on accelerating and expanding gender equality and women’s empowerment across global supply chains, through the delivery of workplace interventions and greater cross-sector collaboration. Our mission is to empower women workers, embed gender equality in business practice and catalyze systems change with an initial focus on the apparel, footwear, and home textile sectors. RISE is a membership organization that works with the world’s largest apparel and footwear brands as well as suppliers as members. Founded by BSR, CARE, ILO-IFC Better Work, and Gap In, RISE is hosted by BSR with a longer-term intention of becoming an independent not-for-profit entity.

RISE is now seeking the support of a fundraising contractor to help us achieve our new fundraising strategy and plans for significant expansion of our work. RISE has a mixed funding model and receives funding from private sector, philanthropic foundations, corporate foundations, bilateral agencies and could receive funding from multilateral agencies. This role will support RISE on grant fundraising.

We are looking for a self-starter with strong grant fundraising experience and network who is equally happy partnering with the team on new project ideas, writing proposals, expanding prospects and presenting to donors. Location: The Contractor can be remote, preferably located in the US or Europe. The person will report to the Executive Director, based in London.

SCOPE OF WORK:

Proposal and Concept Development

• Partner with subject matter experts at RISE to brainstorm and develop impactful new project ideas and turn these into concept notes or fundraising campaigns.
• Lead on grant proposal development for priority concepts. This involves drafting a compelling project narrative that translates our work for a donor audience, as well as program activities and outcomes, and a logical framework or theory of change.
• Lead on development of case for support, capability statements and pitch materials.
• Lead on complex, multi-year budget development for proposals in compliance with donor requirements and in line with RISE and BSR operational, financial and compliance guidelines for grant funding.
• Work with RISE Executive Director and wider RISE team on developing a healthy grant pipeline.

Donor Engagement

• Build on RISE’s existing donor networks and relationships to lead donor engagement and secure new funding in support of RISE’s priority action areas. This will involve:
  • Broadening RISE’s base of donors by identifying priority donor targets and seeking ways to build new donor relationships, with particular focus around philanthropic foundations, corporate foundations and bilateral agencies.
  • Maintaining regular communications with relevant donors and seeking ways to involve them in RISE’s work.
  • Partner with RISE Associate Director for Business Partnerships on development and outreach to RISE members on grant funding opportunities, in particular collaborative or joint opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing outreach plans for priority concepts.
  • Lead on or partner with RISE subject matter experts and leadership on donor presentations and pitch-meetings.
  • Keeping RISE team up to date with donor intelligence.
  • Represent RISE, as agreed, at relevant conferences or events where RISE priority donors are present.

Fundraising planning

• Work with Executive Director to develop annual workplans for fundraising/business development/partnership building.
• Input into fundraising strategy and strategic reviews – including priority areas of focus, strategies for increasing grant funding, and ways to enhance internal collaboration with content experts.

The Scope of Work is not an exhaustive list of duties but is intended to reflect a range of duties the consultant will perform. The Fundraising Contractor agree priorities with RISE Executive Director. The Scope of Work will be reviewed regularly and may be changed in the light of experience and in consultation with the Contractor.

EXPERIENCE

• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience with developing and winning grants including writing concepts, high quality grant proposals.
• Demonstrated expertise with conveying a theory of change and developing logframes, budgets, and work plans for complex, multi-year and global projects in collaboration with program team.
• Good understanding of gender equality, women’s economic empowerment and the private sector’s role in achieving the SDGs.  
• Knowledge of the international donor landscape and trends, with existing networks and demonstrable success in securing grant funding from a diverse group of donors including private and corporate foundations and governments.
• Ability to drive strategic work and engage colleagues around collective action/implementation.
• Demonstrated fluency in English, including advanced writing and editing, with the ability to communicate ideas effectively and concisely.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams, including across diverse geographies and interacting with senior staff in donor organizations.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• High ethical standards and commitment to RISE core values of agency, inclusion and collaboration.

REPORTING

The Contractor will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Associate Director Business Partnerships, Program Director and Country and Program Managers. The Contractor will also partner with work closely with the BSR Grants and Foundation team.

In support of Mercy Corps’ mission, the global Corporate and Foundation Partnerships team manages Mercy Corps’ fundraising relationships with major global companies and foundations. We set bold visions for the positive social change we can create with our partners, provide outstanding partner services and relationship management, and together build meaningful partnerships that provide value to all parties while creating lasting impact for the local communities where we work. Our partnerships span areas including emergency response, economic and market development, food and water security, climate change, and peacebuilding. We work across many teams at Mercy Corps, including marketing and communications, mass market fundraising, the executive office, and with our programme and country-based colleagues around the world. This position sits within Mercy Corps’ Development team.

The Position 

The Communications Officer, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships will focus on two key workstreams: 1) Implementing the communications and profile-raising strategy for the Development team’s $250M Climate: Possible global campaign and 2) Communications projects supporting European corporate and foundation partners. Working closely with the Communications Director, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, and the Senior Director of Development in Europe, this position will coordinate across internal teams, including fundraising relationship managers and communications and marketing team members, and liaise directly with external partners.

Essential Responsibilities 

CLIMATE: POSSIBLE COMMUNICATIONS & PROFILE-STRATEGY SUPPORT (60%)

●Support the execution of the Climate: Possible communications plan, including managing the creation of thought leadership deliverables, developing written and other creative content, and coordinating internal reviews.

●Create an editorial calendar, develop and track an ongoing stream of content for executive and agency social media channels that highlights Mercy Corps’ expertise in climate adaptation programming.

●Event support, including developing briefing documents, talking points, invitation copy, and social media promotion for external climate conferences and events and Mercy Corps-organised corporate and foundation partnership events.

●Create new deliverables and update the existing suite of Climate: Possible marketing materials, as needed.

GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR CORPORATE & FOUNDATION AUDIENCES (35%)

●Contribute to the development and implementation of multi-channel profile-raising strategies in support of the European strategic plan. Contribute to the profile and influence strategy to raise Mercy Corps’ profile with key corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

●Manage emergency response coordination for the Global Corporate and Foundation Partnership teams in partnership with the Global Sr. Communications Officer. Write emergency response communications (creating and sourcing content from internal teams), including email solicitations and updates, and help create donor deliverables, including decks and webinars to support emergency response fundraising amongst Corporate and Foundation partners.

●Source, transform, and create content into compelling Corporate and Foundation audience-specific products, including emails, blog and social posts, pitch decks, fact sheets, and videos.

●Serve as the communications lead, in partnership with corporate relationship managers, for corporate co-fundraising opportunities and submission prizes and competitions.

●Support strategic employee communications efforts for top European corporate partners in partnership with the Employee Engagement Officer.

●Monitor social media accounts of key Corporate and Foundation partners, and draft suggested posts for executive or agency engagement. 

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND TEAM PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (5%) 

• Develop and maintain internal documents to track communications projects and evaluate and prioritise communications opportunities with partners.
• Stay abreast and socialize internal communications resources and general fundraising communication trends with the Corporate and Foundation teams. 
• Contribute to Mercy Corps’ ethical fundraising and communications strategy by creating materials in line with our ethical storytelling approach and guidelines.

The Communications Officer, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, will have demonstrated experience creating high-quality, fit-for-purpose communications deliverables. An outstanding writer and project manager, they will work collaboratively with multiple teams and individuals across many departments to ensure successful project outcomes. Experience in corporate social impact, climate programming, or international development will be a strong asset.

Pratham is one of the largest and most respected education charities in India. We developed a model that can teach a child to read and do basic maths in as little as 30 days for £14. We also have preschool, vocational and women's education programmes. 

We have strong support from the UK Indian diaspora and are in a period of significant growth that has seen us triple in size in three years; we now raise £1.5m a year and have an ambition to at least triple again. Our flagship fundraising event is our annual Gala; we will return to Raffles at the Old War Office this year on 8th November. The gala sponsorship pack is included with the job pack below. The evening consistently raises over £500k; this year, you will support the delivery of the Gala, but next year, you will lead it along with a calendar of cultivation and stewardship events that will help us grow partnerships with major donors, corporates and foundations.

While you will work in a small, fully remote team day to day, you will be part of the global Pratham network. The team in India has over 6,000 staff, and they raise $28m locally. Pratham USA has 14 chapters and produces around 12 galas a year, which contributes to its $30m income; you can share the films and branding of their galas, meaning we can really stretch our budget to put on an outstanding event.

Prospect Research Manager (Corporate Partnerships)

About the Role:
You will lead on the development and delivery of a prospect research strategy to support the strategic development of our partnership portfolio. In collaboration with the Senior Partnership Development Manager you will develop and implement a prospect research strategy to grow partnerships and income. You will also oversee all aspects of the prospect pipeline process and present monthly KPI reports to the Partnership Development team, liaising with the Performance and Insights team as required to adapt reports to meet the team's needs.

You will maintain a strong role in understanding and promoting the role of research in enabling our fundraising teams to maximise donor engagement and income, through informed prospect identification, cultivation and stewardship.

More specifically, this includes:

• Proactively identifying prospects that have a strong fit with our strategy in terms of alignment and capacity to give
• Building and managing the prospect pipeline across the team, and leading on 'moves management' to ensure we are effectively managing and supporting potential and existing prospects to have a great experience
• Ensuring our prospect development strategy is understood consistently across the wider Strategic Partnerships team
• Providing recommendations on how to engage prospects, considering motivations and existing networks
• Producing research profiles, reports and biographical briefings
• Developing and utilising internal and external prospect research databases and network mapping systems to identify sources of warm prospects
• Identifying relevant events for Partnership Development Managers to attend for networking and/or insight-gathering purposes, and developing detailed briefs on events speakers and attendees
• Ensuring quality control of prospect research processes and documentation
• Recommending appropriate and cost-effective research tools and manage this part of the expenditure budget.

About you:

• Educated to degree-level/equivalent educational standard, or significant equivalent work experience
• Strong understanding of the role of research in good prospect management, cultivation and stewardship (in commercial or not-for-profit environment)
• Experience carrying out prospect research for corporate partnerships using relevant databases and research tools
• Very strong research and analytical skills, including ability to produce detailed and insightful profiles and network lists for prospective individual and organisation partners
• Ability to analyse complex information and communicate clearly and credibly for delivery to a variety of audiences in written reports, presentations and meetings
• Stakeholder management knowhow to build and maintain great working relationships at all levels, and influence, internally and externally
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with ability to work under own initiative to meet deadlines and prioritise conflicting deadlines successfully
• Proven ability to translate understanding of business requirements into relevant market research audience insights, with ability to spot, interpret and identify opportunities from market trends
• Experience of using a fundraising or customer relationship management database (at WaterAid we use Microsoft Dynamics).
