In the past 12 months we have received substantial media attention for our emergency work in Gaza, Ukraine, and Turkey. You will work within the Fundraising and Communications directorate. We are small and ambitious team who has achieved significant success in driving profile and engagement to inspire support from the public.

The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers. 

• An agile media mind, able to spot the key storyline that will maximise the possibility of media coverage and attract the attention of the media. 

• An evaluative mindset, supporting continual improvement by analysing coverage and associated data from media activity. 

• An ability to keep a calm head when faced with a reactive media situation in a manner that best protects the reputation of the charity 

• A thoughtful and empathetic outlook, able to engage with people affected by cancer with sensitivity and respect.

Reporting to: Operations Director & Fundraising Manager

Location: Flexible and remote working is offered to all of our staff. We have an office based in Colindale, London, which we tend to work around two days per week, with two days remote working.

About the Role: This is an interesting and varied role. As the post holder you'll be not only be setting up, administering and delivering schemes and activities to benefit Barnet’s looked after young people, you'll also be creating marketing materials and supporting fundraising events.  Promoting the work of our charity is key too through updating our website, writing our quarterly newsletter and social media channels, as well as supporting the running and administration of the charity. 

About You:

You'll have experience of managing and delivering projects, schemes or activities and supporting administrative tasks including keeping accurate records, financial tracking and expenditure.
 
You'll also have experience of creating engaging content for newsletters, websites and/or social media channels especially Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver common goals.

About the role
This is a new role for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity as we look to expand our successful Individual Giving & Lottery programmes.

The post holder will deliver quality fundraising campaigns, including Cash Appeals, Regular Giving and Lottery that will grow income, supporter base and lifetime value. Putting supporters at the heart of the Charity’s work, the role includes acquisition, retention and stewardship of individual donors and lottery players to achieve a sustainable increase in income for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.

Duties and Key relationships Marketing and Communications

This is a new role in the Marketing and Communications department and is responsible for the media relations of the Charity.  

PR and Media Relations

• To develop relevant media contacts, as well as contacts in the sector, to maximise the reach and coverage of key communications campaigns as well as wider organisational projects.

• Produce creative copy written for a variety of audience groups which champions and shows best practice of our tone of voice

• Develop and support in house PR roll out

· Work with external PR agency on selected press releases where relevant

· Write press releases in line with campaign launches and key moments

· Develop pitches and news stories and other promotional copy.

· Lead on media briefings that convey appropriate key messages and prepare spokespeople

· Identify and interview case studies and media spokespeople

· Pull together monthly Data Analysis reports with the support of the Marketing and Communications Manager

· Send out weekly coverage reports with the Digital Marketing Officer, monitor external activity (including competitor) and incorporate best practice.

Communications

• Maintain the communications calendar

• Research, write and distribute media outreach activities such as press releases, media comments, media briefs, features, blogs and letters to editors

• Be the first point of contact for media enquiries and manage the press office function in a timely manner.

• Maintain library system for press cuttings, monitor cuttings and report on results

• Lead on gathering powerful stories that highlight the impact of childhood cancer on the lives of children, young people and families

• Work closely with the fundraising and digital teams to coordinate and respond to the different needs for case studies

• Maintain a detailed and GDPR compliant contact management system of all case studies

• Work closely with the Digital Team to ensure that all campaigns and content produced is reflected on the website and across social media accounts

Families

• Maintain relationships with current patient families who are sharing their cancer journey stories with the media.

• Produce stories of patient families and share online and social media

• Work with a diverse range of case studies and media spokespeople and ensure they are treated in an appropriate and safe manner.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Press and Campaigns Officer to raise the profile of Carers First, building our brand awareness and engagement levels to reach new carers. The successful candidate will also help to raise awareness of the issues affecting carers and be responsible for our press and media activity, helping us to secure national and local coverage. 
You will work to increase the charity’s local presence improving visibility and helping to increase engagement with Carers First across all the areas in which we work, supporting with the development and delivery of our campaigns and projects.
To be successful you will require 1-2 years of experience in a public relations or communications position, ideally within the charity or public sectors, excellent IT skills including ability to use Microsoft Office suite, along with superb organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines and show attention to detail.

Our Third Party Events team are working to raise up to £2m+ across a range of activities in 2024, and we need brilliant people to help achieve our ambitious fundraising goals.

In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of third party challenge events to target, and for innovating, developing and delivering new fundraising activities.

You'll also be monitoring and evaluating all products to create opportunities for future growth. This role is customer-focused and you'll spend lots of time stewarding our amazing supporters to maximise their fundraising.

This is an exciting opportunity to steward fundraising teams of significant size, as well as helping to shape the future third party events strategy.

The portfolio is well-established and includes a mixture of events activities, including runs, cycles and challenges. You'll have contact with event participants and supporters and manage relationships with a number of third party agencies, while working with other colleagues in our Community and Events team.

This unique position will contribute to the strategic development of the charity, allowing the right individual to bring expertise from previous roles to expand external partnerships and influence.  Keychange is a Christian Charity working in elderly social care and homeless communities.  Keychange provides care, support, development, and well-being services across nine sites in England, consisting of seven residential Care Homes for older people and two Housing Communities for young people, with an additional housing site in development. Position summary

SAT-7 is currently looking to recruit a Development Officer to join SAT-7s Development Department.

The purpose of SAT-7 is to provide Christian television and digital media services to support the work and witness of the church in the Middle East and North Africa.

SAT-7’s Development department works with projects to address often controversial issues in the MENA region such as disability, discrimination, limited educational opportunities, women’s and children’s rights through the TV-programs and through on the ground partners.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the activities of SAT-7 PARS, SAT-7’s Farsi speaking channel, including the drafting of fundraising proposals.

Summary of key responsibilities

• Development of fundraising proposals for SAT-7 PARS’ channel projects in cooperation with all relevant SAT-7 stakeholders
• Conduct frequent MENA context analysis with special focus on the situation for Christians, FoRB, women, children, disabilities, education etc.
• Monitoring and managing the correct implementation of the projects (scope, budget, schedule, quality etc.)
• Manage and ensure the necessary reporting of SAT-7 PARS projects carried out with restricted funds.
• Management and development of the portfolio of SAT-7 social-impact projects in line with Communications for Development approach
• Oversee research related to measurement of the success of different projects.
• Work closely with the International Office Communications Department for the portfolio projects.
• Travelling to different SAT-7 offices in MENA when required

Qualifications and requirements

• Be sympathetic with and enthusiastic about the purpose and goals of SAT‑7.
• Relevant university degree is required e.g. Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Theology
• Knowledge of Middle East political, socioeconomics and religious issues is essential.
• Experience in project management, Communications for Development or/and Christian ministry, and the coordination of projects supported by restricted funds would be an advantage.
• Be a proficient communication writer able to express SAT-7’s Christian identity to corporate and statutory funders.
• Outstanding English writing/speaking skills.
• Experience in a similar position is considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of Farsi would be an advantage.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East or North Africa is a strong advantage
• Be very organised with good attention to detail, able to juggle different tasks, meet deadlines, prioritise and delegate when appropriate.
• Experience from working with staff from different cultures.
• Be flexible, demonstrating a “can do” attitude when taking on new challenges, leading by example.
• Good interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively via phone, email and in person with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
•  Self-motivated, confident, proactive, and highly organized with ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
