Duties and Key relationships Marketing and Communications

This is a new role in the Marketing and Communications department and is responsible for the media relations of the Charity.  

PR and Media Relations

• To develop relevant media contacts, as well as contacts in the sector, to maximise the reach and coverage of key communications campaigns as well as wider organisational projects.

• Produce creative copy written for a variety of audience groups which champions and shows best practice of our tone of voice

• Develop and support in house PR roll out

· Work with external PR agency on selected press releases where relevant

· Write press releases in line with campaign launches and key moments

· Develop pitches and news stories and other promotional copy.

· Lead on media briefings that convey appropriate key messages and prepare spokespeople

· Identify and interview case studies and media spokespeople

· Pull together monthly Data Analysis reports with the support of the Marketing and Communications Manager

· Send out weekly coverage reports with the Digital Marketing Officer, monitor external activity (including competitor) and incorporate best practice.

· Analyse reports to identify new opportunities and act up to grow presence in national press by identifying proactive and reactive media opportunities.

· Be part of out-of-hours weekend monitoring rota

Communications

• Maintain the communications calendar

• Research, write and distribute media outreach activities such as press releases, media comments, media briefs, features, blogs and letters to editors

• Be the first point of contact for media enquiries and manage the press office function in a timely manner.

• Maintain library system for press cuttings, monitor cuttings and report on results

• Lead on gathering powerful stories that highlight the impact of childhood cancer on the lives of children, young people and families

• Work closely with the fundraising and digital teams to coordinate and respond to the different needs for case studies

• Maintain a detailed and GDPR compliant contact management system of all case studies

• Work closely with the Digital Team to ensure that all campaigns and content produced is reflected on the website and across social media accounts

Families

• Maintain relationships with current patient families who are sharing their cancer journey stories with the media.

• Produce stories of patient families and share online and social media

• Work with a diverse range of case studies and media spokespeople and ensure they are treated in an appropriate and safe manner.

• Be key spokesperson for families media storytelling

Other

• Contribute to the overall Marketing and Communications function of Children with Cancer UK

• Carry out any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post

The CEO will provide leadership to Embracing Age and to be responsible for the management and administration of the charity, in partnership with and reporting to the trustees. Job Title: Social Media Officer

Reporting to: Digital Marketing Manager

Location of work: Flexible. This post holder can be based in our London office or a hybrid approach working from home with office visits as required, we continue to seek to enable flexible and remote working. The role will involve some irregular travel throughout England and Scotland.

BACKGROUND

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons. Magic Breakfast also undertakes research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.

JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Brand and Marketing team, the Social Media Officer will lead on social media strategy for the organization, working closely with teams across Magic Breakfast to develop and diversify our presence on social media. Through innovative, compelling content creation the Social Media Officer will raise awareness of our work and the Magic Breakfast brand. The role's aims are to reach and engage new audiences and to strengthen brand advocacy with exisiting target audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop Magic Breakfast social media channels to grow an engaging environment for people with lived experience of childhood morning hunger and our wider supporter network.
• Develop and deliver effective strategies that optimise and grow our social media channels.
• Liase with both Magic Breakfast and corporate partners' design, PR and social media agencies to deliver effective and timely campaigns
• Monitor, improve (through testing and optimisation) and report on the performance and effectiveness of social media content and campaigns
• Write impactful and engaging social posts, sourcing approprtiate imagery and developing video content in collaboration with the Multimedia Producer.

The Role

You will be instrumental in securing the funding, which the organisation needs to continue to deliver and develop its services, across a wide range of functions and projects. You will be an entrepreneurial, knowledgeable fundraiser, adept at finding the right opportunities to fit the right projects. You will also be meticulous and organised in your approach to stewardship, maintaining contact with funders and working with colleagues to collate the information needed for reporting.

The fundraising strategy contains plans to further develop specific areas of fundraising such as individual giving, corporate partnerships and legacies, and you may be called upon to support the Head of Fundraising in putting plans together for the implementation of these, working alongside the Senior Administrator (Fundraising and Communications).

About You

You will have experience in a fundraising, philanthropy or relationship management role and a track record of success in securing at least five-figure donations from grant and trust funders.

• Develop, contribute to and implement impact-driven and strategic communications campaigns that build Kineara’s fundraising capacity and raise awareness of the issues

Context of the role.

The successful candidate will be guided by the Communications & Fundraising Officer to communicate the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and demonstrate the impact of Upbeat Communities to our supporters and followers, as well as to new audiences. They will have a positive attitude and love communicating what we do as a charity.

The role can mostly be done remotely; however, it will be required for the candidate to travel to our base in Derby a minimum of 1 day a week to stay connected to the team, and for team meetings and training as and when they occur.

In the last few years Mind's Corporate Partnership team has seen significant growth, delivering £7m+ income in FY22/23. Mind has strategic, Charity of the Year and commercial partnerships with companies across a range of sectors.

We are looking for an experienced and creative partnerships officer, to join our high performing and fast paced team at an incredibly exciting time. You will be managing and supporting a varied and interesting range of partnerships including existing and brand-new partnerships.

The Corporate Partnerships team consists of Partnerships Management, Planning and Development and New Partnerships team. This role reports into a Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer.

Key duties and responsibilities

The post holder will:

As a skilled relationship officer, you'll work with your manager to provide first-rate partnership management, developing creative fundraising and engagement plans to excite and inspire your team. You will work to deliver outstanding donor led stewardship and activate campaigns to generate income. You will work collaboratively with staff across Mind, together with other stakeholders and external contacts to maximise income and other opportunities for Mind.

Working both independently and with support from your line manager:

-Steward, renew and grow a portfolio of corporate partnerships at Mind, effectively planning, developing and delivering the partnerships to maximise income and wider benefits for Mind.

-Develop and implement a fundraising and engagement plan to maximise income and added value over the course of partnerships, deliver donor-focused stewardship so partners want to stay with Mind.

-Collaborate with internal teams to maximise potential and deliver mutually beneficial partnerships, e.g. communications, celebrities and PR, pro bono and gift in kind, lived experience, finance, events, services and wider engagement

-Adapt and promote Mind's core campaigns and activities to partners to engage partners with our cause and deliver excellent stewardship, working with the Planning and Development team

-Lead or assist with the creation of innovative fundraising initiatives, assets and materials to engage and inspire our partners

-Report back on how our partners' support has made a difference, demonstrating a clear understanding of the breadth and depth of Mind's work and the projects they're supporting.

-Track and monitor income and expenditure budgets to ensure income targets are met, flagging any variances to your line manager in good time. Work efficiently with Finance and Supporter Care to deliver accurate reporting.

-Work with your manager and Corporate Partnership team leadership to develop and deliver effective leadership stewardship plans

-Work with your manager to manage risk in new and existing partnerships and to ensure that Mind's corporate policy is adhered to.

-Work with your line manager to research and help develop proposals and presentations for potential corporate partners and renewals, working with the New Partnerships team.

-Assist with the organisation of events connected with the Partnerships fundraising team, and with practical tasks for other departmental events, as required.

-To work closely with Corporate Partnerships Officers across the three sub teams in Partnerships Management and wider team colleagues to share best practice, resource and learnings, and where necessary, support with partnerships

-Represent the Partnerships team in appropriate working groups, workshops and/or meetings/other events as directed.

-To undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary, that are compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. You will play an integral role in communicating our work as widely as possible and improving and increasing engagement with our supporters, including our members, donors and corporate partners.

The Engagement and Communications Officer will work to maximise income and support for JUSTICE through events (approximately 45% of the role), communications (approximately 30% of the role) and membership (approximately 25% of the role). They will report to the Director of Development and Head of Communications.

Development Director

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.

The Role 
 
As our Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of communications that contribute to increased brand awareness of the charity, demonstrate the charity’s expertise and impact, educate the public about cancer prevention, signs, symptoms and screening and support the generation of income for the charity. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Plan, research, create and distribute creative media content, including press releases, blog posts, case studies and videos, to support research, services, cancer insight, fundraising, events, retail, corporate partnerships and campaigns. 

• Proactively seek, identify and engage in media opportunities, such as attending events, organising photo opportunities and meeting face-to-face with case studies.

• Manage third-party suppliers such as photographers and film production agencies, obtaining quotes, providing clear briefings and ensuring work is delivered on time and within budget.

• Respond to press enquiries efficiently and to a high standard. Understand which media enquiries are appropriate for the charity’s brand and key messages and those which are not, so that the charity prioritises only those which are value-adding. 

• Organise TV, radio and press interview opportunities for the Chief Executive, Directors and Heads of. Prepare clear briefings for interviewees. 

• Demonstrate and convey professionalism at all times and represent the charity when communicating with the media, members of the public, volunteers and supporters to demonstrate the charity’s core values.

• Monitor and evaluate the charity’s media coverage and the digital impact of PR content, providing a monthly media clippings report. 

• Provide PR input to the charity’s Leadership Team, Board reports and performance dashboards. 

• Maintain continuous awareness of industry news and regularly update colleagues on key developments. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be educated to a degree or equivalent level of education or have relevant experience in a similar role at a similar level. 

• Previous media experience, whether through journalism or a PR / in house media assistant role. 

• Experience in building relationships with colleagues and journalists and managing media opportunities such as interviews, broadcast opportunities and photocalls. 

• An ability to write compelling copy for multiple audiences, and media channels, often translating complicated information into a format that is easily understood by readers.
