We’re now seeking an experienced and visionary Interim Senior Fundraising Insights and Research Manager to cover the postholder’s maternity leave. This is a strategic, high-impact role for a data-driven leader who can unlock insight to maximise supporter engagement and drive income growth. You’ll shape and lead the research and insight function, transforming data into clear strategies that sharpen targeting, deepen donor relationships, and enhance campaign performance.

You’ll also lead the development of new supporter segmentation strategies, harness technology to improve CRM systems, and play a key role in World Vision’s ambitious plans to scale Child Sponsorship. From AI-driven analytics to performance dashboards and predictive modelling – this is a hands-on role where your insights will directly fuel mission impact.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Significant leadership experience in research, data analysis, or fundraising insight, ideally within the non-profit or digital fundraising space.

• Expertise in donor segmentation, data-driven decision-making, and fundraising analytics.

• Proven ability to lead a team, communicate complex insights clearly, and influence senior stakeholders.

• Strong technical skills including CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), data compliance (GDPR), and advanced Excel capabilities.

• A passion for innovation – with an eye on emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and automation tools.

About the Role and Objectives:

Developing and growing relations with supporters, donors, public, foundations, and corporate friends. Passionate and well organized, you will change the world for animals by ensuring every department’s work is fully funded – as well as the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa, home to our rescued lions and tigers. Duties:

• Production of annual fundraising and marketing plan: growing supporter base, increasing engagement and retention; sustained giving; digital and postal direct response; increasing donor engagement and retention; planned giving; special events/calendar dates; major gifts; foundation grants; corporate support; legacies, trusts, estates; new income research. Who should apply:

You have the necessary skills and experience, with at least 4 years’ experience in fundraising planning and management for charities, including:

• Educated to degree level in a related field (or equivalent experience) (required).
• A successful track record in direct response campaign fundraising and marketing.
•  Excellent written English, you can demonstrate impactful and persuasive content for high donors, foundations, corporate support, supporters, social media, marketing and legacy promotion (required).
• You can plan and deliver programs for regular and planned giving, major gifts, estates, support from foundations, corporate support (required).

The Senior Fundraising Officer role is a key position within the Fundraising Team in Wales with the main aim to secure income from Grants, Trusts & Foundations and Corporates. The Senior Fundraising Officer will work against annual targets to achieve the RSPB's goals, playing a key role in building financial support for nature.

What's the role about?

The Senior Fundraising Officer will be expected to:

• Identify, develop and deliver fundraising projects and match these to agreed priority areas to maximise income.
• Lead on the development of funding plans for priority work as allocated.
• Contribute to the implementation of an agreed fundraising opportunities and lead on large funding bids across one or more income stream.
• Scope, develop and manage funding relationships and multi stakeholder bids to optimise opportunities and ensure successful funding arrangements.
• Identify the requirements of our funders, including analysis of potential risk and communications requirements to ensure effective dialogue and delivery of any funding and compliance conditions.
• Provide forecasts for budgeting and make recommendations for change in order to provide accurate financial information for RSPB leadership.

• Ensure funders and donors have an excellent supporter experience and increase their understanding and awareness of RSPB vision and work.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Understanding of fundraising and donor/supporter motivations and how to build cases for support.
• Able to articulate understanding of GDPR and data protection relating to funder/supporter information and how to use a fundraising database such as Raisers Edge, Care or Salesforce.
• Solutions-focused approach, with the ability to overcome set-backs in order to get the right outcome for the RSPB.

Key responsibilities

Special Events

• Co-ordinate logistics for CTS fundraising and organisational events including managing event paperwork and processes, such as invitations and RSVPs
• Manage events as directed e.g. lead on the delivery of the annual stadium takeover day, golf day and/or other events as required
• Responsible for administrative support for CTS fundraising events including maintaining attendee and gift records on our Raisers Edge database
• Responsible for proactively sourcing auction items and the fulfilment of said auction items and raffle prizes to be used at CTS and third-party fundraising events, including developing partnerships with potential auction donors (both individual and corporates)
• To effectively manage the tracking, distribution and coordination of all cricket tickets and hospitality associated with auction prizes throughout the year
• To support with sales for CTS events, such as golf days and fundraising dinners, through prospect research
• To recruit and manage volunteers to support CTS fundraising events
• To regularly monitor the events inbox
• To manage and support the delivery of activities that may occur in partnership with other charities
• To co-ordinate and manage invitations to hospitality opportunities
• To co-ordinate and manage evaluation of events
• To produce all event collateral including but not limited to copy for invitations, thank you letters, event programmes, auction cards, flyers and brochures
• Lead on financial elements for CTS events – raising invoices, tracking payments and income

• To organise all challenge event activity, including identifying potential challenge event supporters and partnerships

· Full UK driving license and able and willing to travel throughout the UK

Desirable experience and competencies
• An interest in cricket and/or the sport for good sector

• Knowledge of Adobe InDesign or Canva

Reporting to:   Communications & Marketing Manager

Contract: Permanent; Full time 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Some evening or weekend working will be required as part of this role. 

Location: Hybrid. Home working with minimum of 40% of contracted hours at our office in Welwyn Garden City. Candidates must be based in the UK and within reasonable commuting distance to our office in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Job purpose

The Communications & Marketing Officer is a key role within our busy Communications Team. They will support the wider Willow team in delivering on plans to raise the charity’s profile and increase supporter engagement. The Communications Team supports the communications needs of all teams across the organisation.

Principal responsibilities and duties

• Contribute to, and help to evolve, Willow’s communications activity, including emails, website, marketing and social media
• Work with the Willow teams to plan and deliver a regular calendar of content, ensuring the communication and marketing needs of colleagues across the organisation are met
• Manage the promotion of fundraising campaigns and events
• Engage with press, supporters, beneficiaries, partners, volunteers and medical professionals to help establish Willow as a national brand
• Gather and create engaging content, including case studies, images and videos, to be used to raise awareness of Willow’s work locally and nationally
• Develop and manage working relationships with creative agencies, printers and freelancers to deliver high quality communications, on time and within budget
• Use analytics tools to report back on performance and identify learnings and opportunities
• Attend Willow and third-party events, providing communications support including social media posting, videography, photography and media management
• Work with the managers of Willow’s shops to deliver a program of communications projects and activities to engage new donors and customers
• Work with Communications Team colleagues to plan and deliver activity to support the Digital Comms Strategy, Ambassador & Influencer Strategy, Growth plan and key themes and projects

• Experience of working in a busy marketing/PR/communications team, ideally in a charity environment
• A responsive, confident self-starter who is enthusiastic and highly motivated
• Excellent planning, time-management and organisational skills with ability to stick to timetables for delivery of work and meet deadlines under pressure
• Able to express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, with an ability to adjust tone and content appropriately for different target audiences
• Strong copywriting and editing skills with the ability to turn complex information into compelling stories and content

• Experience of developing multi-channel communications plans and taking a communications campaign forward through different digital and offline channels

Other

• Full driving licence required as regular travel across the county will be part of the role, in particular to our retail stores and events. Some national travel may be necessary on occasion.
