Our Data and Fundraising Operations team acts as the technical lead for many of the Charity’s systems and technical projects. • Providing day-to-day support and troubleshooting for Raiser’s Edge NXT users
• Supporting fundraising teams as they move from Raiser’s Edge 7 to NXT
• Delivering clear training, guidance and practical support to CRM users
• Managing data imports, cleansing, audits and database administration
• Monitoring data quality and improving how supporter information is recorded
• Working with stakeholders to understand their needs and improve systems and processes

About you

You may already be working as a Database Officer, CRM Officer or charity data specialist and be ready to take the next step in your career.

You’re curious, proactive and solutions-focused. You enjoy investigating data and system issues, working with complex datasets and finding practical ways to improve processes. Just as importantly, you enjoy working with people and can explain technical information clearly to colleagues with different levels of confidence and experience.

The Opportunity

We are supporting an established UK animal welfare charity with the appointment of a Database & Fundraising Manager on an initial 7-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the position to become permanent. Ideally able to travel to the Kent office Wednesday's but not essential.

This is a hands-on fundraising operations role with responsibility for the charity's CRM, supporter data, income processing, reconciliations, direct debits, lottery administration and fundraising campaign data.

You will work closely with the fundraising team, senior leadership and external accountants and suppliers, taking ownership of accurate data and efficient processes during a period of transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the charity's Raiser’s Edge CRM, including data entry, cleansing, imports, exports and supporter records.

• Produce data selections, segmentation, reports and analysis for fundraising and communications.

• Manage direct debit and standing order administration, including uploads, cancellations, unpaid payments and reconciliations.

• Reconcile fundraising income against bank and accounting records and investigate discrepancies.

• Oversee lottery administration, including membership records, monthly draws and winner communications.

• Support fundraising appeals through data selections, exports and coordination with external mailing suppliers.

• Monitor fundraising income and produce accurate reports.

• Maintain database processes, documentation and data quality.

• Provide general fundraising and supporter administration as required.

About You

We're looking for an experienced fundraising database, CRM, data or income-processing professional with:

• Proven experience using Raiser’s Edge or a comparable fundraising CRM.

• Advanced Excel and strong data-management skills.

• Experience working with large datasets, imports/exports, segmentation and reporting.

• Experience with direct debits, standing orders, income processing or financial reconciliation.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

• The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

• A good understanding of CRM data quality and best practice.

Charity or fundraising experience is desirable but not essential.

Who should apply:

You have the necessary skills and experience, with at least 4 years’ experience in fundraising planning and management for charities, including:

• Educated to degree level in a related field (or equivalent experience) (required).
• A successful track record in direct response campaign fundraising and marketing.
• Excellent written English, you can demonstrate impactful and persuasive content for high donors, foundations, corporate support, supporters, social media, marketing and legacy promotion (required).

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Grants Manager role is primarily based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, with the expectation to travel to the other sites, Good Hope Hospital, Heartlands Hospital, and Solihull Hospital.

This post will oversee the Grants Team at the Charity, with the responsibility of overseeing the distribution of grant funding to projects that align with the charity's mission.

Working as part of a team, the role involves managing the full grant-making process, from designing funding programmes and assessing applications to monitoring funded projects and evaluating their impact. The manager works closely with applicants, trustees, and external stakeholders to ensure funding decisions are fair, transparent, and achieve meaningful outcomes.

They also develop grant policies, manage budgets, ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements, and use data and evaluation findings to improve funding strategies.

JOB SUMMARY

This role is primarily based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, with the expectation of occasional travel to other hospital sites.

This post is within the Fundraising Team at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, which is the official charity of Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

This is a new role within the Charity Team. In this role, you will be a crucial part in ensuring that all legacies to the charity are administered in a timely and sensitive manner, maintaining and building great relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

This role will involve occasional evening and weekend work at charity events and events organised by our supporters. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

• Work with the Senior Fundraising Officer responsible for Legacies to actively manage a varied caseload
• Handle a mixture of pecuniary, residuary and reversionary legacy cases
• Tailor your approach to each case depending on the circumstances, having a flexible approach whilst ensuring that all gifts are administered in a timely manner
• Work to optimise University Hospitals Birmingham Charity legacy income where appropriate
• Ensure that all bequests to UHB Charity are received and utilised, in accordance with UHB Charity policies
• Maintain your knowledge of current legislation
• Play an active role in the wider legacy team and promoting Gifts in Wills where necessary
