The Deputy Director will lead More in Common’s research team, training new recruits, setting strategic priorities, and acting as quality control for our research outputs.

The Deputy Director for Research will work closely with the UK Team across our core areas of research, communications, partnership, and client work. The Deputy Director will lead More in Common’s research team, training new recruits, setting strategic priorities, and acting as quality control for our research outputs. 

The Deputy Director for Research role involves:

• With the Deputy Director (Strategy and Development) manage More in Common UK’s work programme and oversee the activity of junior staff.

• Ensure that More in Common’s UK outputs are of the highest quality and genuinely lead to impact in line with our mission.

• Design and support the creation of new and innovative additions to More in Common’s UK research offer.

• Support the development of More in Common’s research team, including identifying skills gaps and supporting training of junior staff.

• Lead strategic communications projects across the UK team’s programme of work for both clients/partners and More in Common’s own communications activity.

• Play a leading role in More in Common’s UK business development and fundraising with a particular focus on managing the consultancy arm of our work and revenue generation – including inculcating a programme of ‘new business’ across junior staff.

• Work closely with More in Common’s communications consultants to maximise opportunities for dissemination of the UK team’s work.

• Deputise for the UK Director in meetings with clients, funders and with global colleagues along with the Deputy Director (Strategy and Development).

• With the UK Director and Deputy Director (Strategy and Development) help to design the strategy for the UK team’s work.

• Support More in Common’s programme of events and partner engagement – including More in Common’s Party Conference events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

This role requires someone who has experience managing research teams within the polling industry. 5+ years of experience in market research, polling, or political analysis is essential for this role.

In addition, the following will be an asset for this role: 

• Track record of delivering genuinely interesting and high-quality research into public opinion in the UK. 

• Experience with and deep understanding of quantitative and quantitative research methods.

• A desire to work on both long-running years’ long research projects, whilst also responding to the news of the day and working fast to produce rapid insights for the media and clients.

• Deep understanding of UK politics and the role research and communications play in shaping public policy outcomes. 

• An ability to write well, at pace, and for a range of audiences, and to give feedback on other team members’ writing to improve their quality. 

• A public profile presenting public opinion analysis to the media and/or on social media.

• An ability to manage projects from start to finish, handling both budget and time management, and dealing with large and complex clients. 

• An eye for a good story; an ability to design research projects that will perform well in the media and experience of writing press releases to make research understandable and interesting to the media. 

• An entrepreneurial mindset and a history of securing new business and writing funding proposals to large funders.

• A desire to help foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing research culture where team members are motivated and enjoy their work.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop early- and mid-career researchers, especially in a small team environment where people learn quickly by doing

• A desire to experiment and try new things to improve More in Common’s work flow and continue our track record of innovations.

SQL Insight Analyst

About The Role  

As a SQL Insight Analyst, you will be at the heart of our charity’s ambition to drive our decision making through evidence and data backed insights. Working closely with the rest of the Data, Insights and Research team to enable their access to aggregated or granular data points from our Services and Fundraising databases.

You will become an expert on the data points we collect at Help For Heroes and gain understanding of how these all play a part in achieving our overall goal of ensuring Members of the Armed Forces Community Live Well after Service.

About You  

You will be a highly motivated SQL code writer with a passion for making a difference in our community. You will need a sharp and dynamic mind that can infer the business logic that underpins the work we do. You will have the adaptability to be able to speak both in business logic and in the translated SQL language that access the data points needed to provide insight on a particular business challenge. Good organisational skills, energy and the ability to listen, build relationships and inspire both confidence and curiosity within our dataset will be essential to drive the change the Charity is looking for.

We are looking for someone with:  

• The ability to write efficient and accurate SQL code.

• An aptitude for understanding business logic and translating that into all code written.

• Strong communication skills to ensure that requirements are agreed and understood on both sides of the ask.

• Basic knowledge of BI tools, in order to implement connections and code to allow for visualisation of the aggregated data.

• Effective and efficient organisational and IT skills. 

PLEASE NOTE:  

• We meet as a team quarterly, most often in London or in Downton (near Salisbury). Travel and accommodation if required would be provided.

• The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Sunday. Core working days will be Monday to Friday with core working hours of 10am-3pm. Working hours will vary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a two-week period, so please take this into consideration before applying.

We are seeking a  committed and creative Outreach and Communications Officer who will be responsible for sharing our knowledge and expertise as widely as possible.

About The Role

The Unity Project (TUP) supports people who are facing poverty and homelessness because their immigration status allows them ‘no recourse to public funds’ (NRPF).  We believe NRPF should not exist and we are working to end it. Until then, we seek to minimise its impact by supporting people to make the ‘change of conditions’ (CoC) application to access public funds. However, as the number of people living under NRPF continues to grow, we know we will never be able to meet the need for CoCs. Ensuring that our knowledge and experience is shared - with advisors, support services, community groups and individuals who could make applications themselves - is vital. Raising awareness of our work also supports our income diversification strategy by building corporate partnerships and individual donations.

In this role, you will be leading The Unity Project’s outreach and communications work in order to increase awareness of the Change of Conditions process and the support The Unity Project can offer to individuals and organisations.  Your first priorities will include mapping CoC provision across the country; working with the Director to design and implement a communications strategy to engage applicants, advice organisations, corporate partners and donors; and creating a suite of CoC resources to share online. As you develop in the role, you will deliver outreach and information sessions online and in the community. The Role

The objectives of the Communications and Campaigns team are to increase the public profiles of Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK, mobilise public support to bring about change and ensure that all colleagues are aware of, bought into and engaged in contributing to the values and direction of the charities. 

A natural storyteller, you will have a talent for creating shortform video content that engages key audiences across our social media platforms. By generating ideas and making them happen, sourcing contributors, shooting and editing footage, you will monitor the performance of posts and proactively incorporate best practice to ensure that content is well received by audiences, and that the charities’ presence on its social media channels grows.

You will regularly collaborate with colleagues across both charities, the other founding charities and key partners to create compelling and inspiring content.

• Creating shortform video content

• Champion and promote the brands, including their tone of voice, in our creative content.

About You

A content creator and social media expert you will have experience of planning, shooting and editing footage to engage audiences across different social media platforms and of using creative design software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro - essential). With an eye for detail, you will use your project management skills to analyse the performance of social media content, refining and improving content through iteration.

You will also have experience of:

• Writing and editing copy to suit different audiences and providing updates and briefings at meetings.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was born out of the tragic story of Suzy Lamplugh, a 25-year-old estate agent who went missing whilst at work in 1986, was never found, and was eventually declared deceased in 1993. The Trust was set up in Suzy’s name and continues to be a pioneer in reducing the risk and prevalence of abuse, aggression and violence - with a specific focus on stalking and harassment – through education, campaigning and support.

We are an organisation that has: 

• been responsible for training over one million lone and frontline workers across all sectors in personal safety; 

• campaigned heavily and played a pivotal role in driving changes in the law to better protect people across the UK; and 

• supported over 75,000 victims and survivors of stalking since the inception of our National Stalking Helpline and stalking advocacy service. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Support the delivery and evaluation of national campaigns on workplace safety as well as stalking, harassment and other priority areas.

• Maintain effective relationships with civil servants, policy makers, national and local decision makers, and other campaigning bodies and build relevant networks of stakeholders.

• Proactively keep abreast of issues within the post-holder’s own portfolio, general criminal justice, personal safety and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) policy developments and up to date campaigning techniques.

• To undertake or commission research on specific policy areas as required.

• Develop policy recommendations, write policy and campaigns reports, lobby government and other decision makers and stakeholders, and respond on behalf of Suzy Lamplugh Trust to government enquiries, consultations or other relevant initiatives. 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Policy and Campaigns Officer is responsible for supporting on Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s policy and campaigning work relating to reducing harassment, violence and aggression in society by addressing these issues at their root cause, working with employers to improve personal safety culture within organisations and seeking to influence policy and legislative change where necessary. This role will also support campaigns that ensure that victims of stalking receive better support and protection.

• To lead and deliver Butterfly Conservation’s strategic aims for nature recovery in Scotland, maximising our impact for butterflies, moths and people.
• To implement BC’s objectives through leadership of the Scotland Nature Recovery team, setting and managing budgets, targets and workplans while inspiring and enabling staff to achieve their best.
• To develop and strengthen collaboration with BC staff, volunteers, stakeholders and partners to drive progress on BC’s targeted species recovery programmes, landscape-scale initiatives and wider nature recovery in Scotland. 

• Drive delivery of BC’s strategic objectives through designing and managing workplans for the Nature Recovery Scotland team, translating ideas into action and ensuring effective reporting to monitor and share evidence of our impact.
• Lead BC’s species recovery work for priority butterflies and moths in Scotland, setting objectives and driving targeted action to recover populations of some of our most threatened species. 
• Lead our landscape-scale conservation work in Scotland, developing and overseeing projects using butterflies and moths as indicators of nature recovery across a landscape.
• Develop and deliver new approaches to contribute to broader nature recovery across Scotland, including exploring potential nature markets and developing our advice and services to reach more partners. 
• Lead, manage and be accountable for the Nature Recovery team in Scotland, including a small number of direct line management reports. Responsible for budgeting, work planning and resource management, including overseeing annual performance management, team meetings, supporting training needs, staff development and well-being.
• Lead the development of new nature recovery projects, including partner liaison, project planning and design, budgeting and reporting to funders. Collaborate with Nature Recovery, Fundraising, and Finance teams to build a case for support and develop bids for external funding through partnerships, appeals and services. 
• Oversee the management of BC’s Nature Reserves in Scotland through the work of the Conservation Managers, in collaboration with the Ecology Services team, to maximise their contribution to nature recovery. 
• Be responsible for Scotland Nature Recovery budgets and their control, working closely with the Finance team to ensure effective planning and timely financial reporting.
• Ensure close working between BC staff, Branches and key volunteers in delivering co-ordinated nature recovery action towards BC’s strategic goals across Scotland.
• Support the Engagement and Volunteering team in the development and delivery of volunteering activity across Scotland, putting people at the heart of our work.
• Work with BC’s policy team and NGO partners to support collaborative work on major policy issues and advocate BC priorities in Scotland.
• Promote the impact of our work across Scotland, including contributing to impact reporting within BC and providing inspiring and engaging external communications to wider audiences.

• Promote BC’s values (Excellence, Passionate, Inspiring, Collaborative) ensuring they are adopted in all aspects of the role.
• Maintain a strategic overview of the organisations’ delivery across the UK and contribute to development of BC’s policies and strategic planning.

About the team

This post sits within the Digital Content and Experience team, which manages our online content and platforms, and delivers unique digital experiences designed to raise awareness, inspire brand love and stimulate action through a variety of channels. The Digital Content and Experience team is part of the Communications and Fundraising directorate and at the forefront of sector-leading, award-winning campaigns and products, thanks to a multi-disciplinary outlook and a test-and learn culture.

About the role

As our Digital Editor – Policy Practice and Advocacy, you will take day-to-day responsibility for content on WaterAid's WASH Matters and global websites and global social media channels, creating high-quality, user-centred material that compels people to act, while communicating organisational priorities. You will work closely with our Global Policy and Advocacy, and International Programmes departments to ensure the effective planning, production and continuous optimisation of digital content that is both inspiring and engaging.

In this role, you will:

• Support the Digital Content Manager - Policy, Practice and Advocacy (PPA) to deliver the digital content strategy for PPA content.
• Collaborate with other teams on developing audience-led digital content for global advocacy campaigns and moments.
• Proactively identify the need for new content that engages online audiences, writing or commissioning new content as required.
• Monitor and feed back on the performance of digital content through Google Analytics and social reporting tools.
• Work closely with the Content Marketing Manager (Email) to develop and publish the WASH Matters newsletter.
• Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding.

To be successful, you will need:

• A track record in, and passion for, digital communications and copywriting.
• Proven experience of writing and sub-editing copy for web, mobile, social media and email.
• Proven experience of developing and delivering engaging social media assets, including graphics and video.
• Extensive editorial skills, including developing and delivering digital content plans, making sound judgements (regarding copy, imagery and social interaction) and publishing without supervision.
• Excellent stakeholder and project management skills, diplomacy, written and verbal communication skills.

Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:

• A strong understanding of the digital landscape and ability to respond creatively to emerging trends.
• An understanding of web design and UX principles.
• Experience in digital campaigning and developing digital content to support public mobilisation campaigns

About the Role

The Communications Coordinator contributes to the planning and delivery of all communications and digital activities for the South London Gallery. Working alongside the Head of Communications and Digital Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator supports the implementation of the SLG’s communications strategy, reaching new audiences, creating engaging digital content, and enhancing visitor experience online and on site.

The role involves the full range of communication channels including print marketing, signage, press, digital, audio-visual interpretation and social media to profile the SLG’s programme, Communities and Learning activities, bookshop and café. The Communications Coordinator also provides administrative support and assists at special events as necessary.

The Corporate Services Officer plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the charity by delivering high-quality administrative and operational support. Working closely with the CEO and Executive Management Team the
postholder ensures the effective implementation of systems and processes that underpin the organisation’s effectiveness, compliance and continuous improvement.
