We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Fundraising Trustee to work with the staff and Board to develop and build the existing fundraising strategy and capability of this small but rapidly growing national charity to the next step in realising our ambition, whilst embedding good governance, and strengthening the charity’s financial position. As a young charity we still need practical, hands on support from the trustees in their area of expertise while we work to mature into an organisation where the trustees can focus on a purely governance role.

Broad Description of Role

· Contribute actively as a member of the Board of Trustees to provide strategic direction, set overall strategy and policy, set targets and evaluate performance.

· Oversee all fundraising and ensure it is undertaken legally, honestly and accountably. Adhering to the Fundraising Regulator guidelines.

· Work with the CEO, Head of Marketing & Fundraising, Fundraising Manager and Board of Trustees to develop and implement a fundraising strategy for the charity to strengthen our financial sustainability, including maintaining existing donors and developing new funding streams.

· Use pre-existing networks to identify funding opportunities and facilitate introductions as well as strengthening relationships with existing donors and supporters.

· Support the development of a HNW network which will take some creativity in the current climate.

· Oversee the development and use of campaigns, social media and celebrity engagement so support income generation.

· Ensure donor reporting and compliance with fundraising legislation.

Who we’re looking for - knowledge and experience

· Demonstrable experience of fundraising at a senior level within the Third Sector.

· A thorough understanding of the Third Sector, Charity Commission legislation,  charity governance and the Fundraising Regulator’s guidelines.

· Awareness of the challenges a small charity can face in developing long term funding streams.

· Experience of donor cultivation and journey.

· Experience of a diverse range of funding streams such as trust and foundations, corporate giving, HNW, individual giving and commercial income generation.

· Excellent networking, influencing and communication skills.

· Active support of fundraising programme.

· Help to create a culture of philanthropy.

Input and Time Commitment:

· A time commitment of 2-4 hours a month would be expected.

· Trustees are expected to be available for regular consultation and input on a range of issues in between meetings, usually via email.

· Attend at least one outreach a year.

· Attend virtual quarterly board meetings, held on third Tuesday of January, April, July, October at 6pm. Meetings duration approx 1 – 2 hours.

o Papers for the meeting are sent the week prior and Trustees must ensure they have read and understood all the information in advance in order to participate fully.

· Attend annual conference – usually 2 days in London.

· Attend in-person annual strategic review, usually half a day, in London.

· Training will be provided to give a good understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, liabilities and responsibilities of trustees.

We are looking for someone who preferably has a professional fundraising background within the charitable sector. We currently have a fundraising subcommittee set up, this role would chair the subcommittee and lead on fundraising initiatives. This subcommittee is currently made up of 3 trustees & 1 staff member, though we are actively looking for fundraising volunteers to join the committee.

This role will lead on branches fundraising & income generation (not via the branches 2 shops).

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties. This role will join the current trustee board (made up of 9 members) and you will be supported by other trustees.

We are seeking someone with understanding or experience of community and grant fundraising to join our board. The role involves leading our fundraising sub committee and providing a sounding board for our fundraising manager to deliver our fundraising strategy. 

What will you be doing?

Specific to the fundraising lead trustee role, your responsibilities will be to:

• Lead the fundraising sub committee.
• Work alongside the board to plan what level of funds must be raised to ensure the effective running of the charity.

Background information:

Harry’s HAT is a UK-based charity focussing on paediatric hydrocephalus. Our mission is to make life better for children and their families who are affected by hydrocephalus. We work towards this aim through:

• Awareness: raising awareness of paediatric hydrocephalus through workshops and training.

• Research: supporting research and funding training (for front-line medical, health and social care workers) to increase understanding of the condition.

• Signposting and support: directing families affected by the condition to organisations that can offer support, advice and guidance and by providing access to our peer-to-peer programme. We do not, however, provide advocacy.

We currently have a vacancy on our Trustee Board for an individual with experience in fundraising and income generation. The Milton Keynes & North Bucks Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Mavar is currently seeking a seasoned networker to join the Mavar Trustee Board as a Trustee with special responsibilities for strengthening our fundraising practice and broadening the charity’s donor base. These individuals fear that the community will ostracise them, leaving them feeling trapped, isolated and helpless.

Some may simply wish to explore options for obtaining a general education or improving their access to employment opportunities whilst wishing to remain within the ultra-orthodox community; others may look to divest themselves of the strictures of ultra-orthodoxy and to lead a more mainstream lifestyle. They all typically lack the everyday life skills to cope with the challenges of the secular world, which appears to them as a confusing, frightening and alien planet. Any effort to integrate with the outside, secular world is hampered by limited English language skills, cultural disorientation, lack of basic education or qualifications and negligible skills for employment.

Trustee Role Details

The day-to-day operations of Mavar are conducted by staff and volunteers under the leadership of our CEO and with the overall oversight of the Trustee Board.

Main Duties of the Fundraising Trustee:

• Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
• Provide advice and support on fundraising strategy, ensuring income generation is planned and executed in alignment with Mavar’s budget framework and objectives.

• Researching and preparing funding proposals to institutional donors including corporates and  trusts
• Researching high net worth donors
• Maintaining  and building donor relations

Key Skills / Attributes:

Well established professional experience in corporate communications or  marketing or similar disciplines.

• Strong interest in volunteering within the arts in the third sector
• Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
• Organised and creative.
• Familiar with use of social media for corporate communications
• Management experience

Interest in / knowledge of ballet useful.

Grant Applications Volunteer 

Sheffield General Cemetery Trust (SGCT) is looking for volunteers to join our Funding team. We are a registered charity and limited company run by a volunteer board of Trustees. We raise all our income through a mix of public events, funding from Grants and Trusts and donations. The work of the funding volunteers is vital to the Trust's continued success. 

We are looking for volunteers who enjoy the challenge of raising funds from grants and trusts and are keen to be successful in this important area of work. We are looking for volunteers who have experience of making funding applications, perhaps in another field, or earlier in their career and who would welcome the opportunity to support our work. 

From time to time we also have opportunities for those looking to develop these skills, perhaps to expand their CV or to support a career change. Please get in touch if you want to discuss possibilities.

Norwich Pride is coming of age! 

We’re turning 18 in 2026 and to make it happen we need more volunteer Organisers. 

Can you write successful grant bids? Create sponsorship packages and work effectively with partner organisations?

Are you a good communicator, skilled across a range of software?

Are you local to Norwich and would you like to join the team that brings Norwich Pride to the city each year?

Our vision is to turn Norwich into a rainbow and you could be just who we are looking for to help us achieve that goal as our new ‘Head of Fundraising’.

Norwich Pride is a group of friendly, creative, enthusiastic volunteers from the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBTQIA+) community.

We organise Norwich Pride on the last Saturday each July. A free and community led event that helps to ensure Norwich is a city where everyone feels safe and proud to be themselves.

NB Location: Norwich Pride is rooted in the local community and members of the Organising Team will need to be available for some centrally based face-to-face meetings as well as event preparation nearer the time. Our preference therefore is for local volunteers (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs).

Volunteer opportunities are worthwhile and give us all the chance to help important causes in our local community, but you, the volunteer, will also gain from donating your time. Volunteering can help you make friends, grow your CV/career, develop a new skill set, and of course, make a difference.

NB Remuneration: In recognition of the importance of this role to the success of the Norwich Pride event this is the only role within the organisation which attracts a small ‘honorarium’ payment. Norwich Pride Trustees have agreed the amount will be dependent upon the successful candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience.
