Job Title: Insight Officer (Children and Young People) - Engagement Development
Location: Home-base within the UK or based at one of our sites or Head Office in London.
Salary: £35,000 pro rata
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: 13 month fixed term contract
This is an exciting time to join the Engagement Development team as we evolve our programmes, projects, and initiatives to help a wide range of audiences benefit from the transformational power of plants and gardening. We are undergoing a period of development across the Learning and Public Engagement division, taking an evidence-based approach to setting our future plans and goals. Reporting to the Insight and Impact Manager, as Insight Officer (Children and Young People), you will lead in collating insight for three key projects, two connected to our learning programmes and one around Young Garden Adventures for Public Programmes. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape a project from the ground up, using pedagogical insight, behaviour change theory, and user feedback to strategically inform new programmes.
We seek a collaborative and analytical individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for data-driven decision-making, particularly around understanding children and young people. You will be naturally curious, always seeking to uncover deeper insights and trends that can drive our work and communicate the division's impact.
With strong communication skills, you can translate insight into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders. Your collaborative nature will ensure you work effectively across teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Adaptable and forward-thinking, your commitment to making a meaningful impact will be evident in your work, and you’ll be able to present insights and evaluations through various mediums, including reports, videos, presentations, and supporting funding applications.

About you
You have a passion for nature conservation and want to see more scaled up and urgent global action for plants and fungi. You will have some level of botanical knowledge and experience in the global conservation or environment sector, with the ability to work cross-culturally and effectively engage with key stakeholder and partners. This will include working with our existing partners and those in the Global IPA network (GIPAN).
You will be able to demonstrate good programme development and management skills, have some knowledge of capacity building through e.g., training and knowledge and skill sharing, and can confidently build a programme of work that integrates locally led action into conservation activities.
This role offers the opportunity to develop and implement a programme of work that has a critical role in protecting and restoring wild plants and fungi and to promote sustainable and ethical conservation practices globally.
About the role
Plantlife pioneered the development of the Important Plant Area (IPA) criteria to identify the best sites of international significance for wild plant diversity – there are now 3,000 globally. These sites have rare and threatened plant species, exceptional botanical richness and threatened habitats. Once identified, IPAs help to target conservation actions and sustainable management of plants.
Plantlife has continued to be a proud advocate of the IPA programme and expanding the network of IPAs and increasing the delivery of management and actions at these sites are now key priorities of the Global Programme’s five-year plan. This has created an exciting opportunity to join the Global team in a new role – Global Important Plant Area Manager – to shape and oversee the strategic development of the IPA programme.
Working with the Head of Global, the postholder will be responsible for strengthening and expanding the IPA programme, building capacity (e.g., through training) and working with partners (e.g., Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) to increase the number of IPAs identified. The role will also help to support the global plan of delivering more conservation action across IPAs, focusing on a “whole of society” approach.

Are you passionate about using data to create change for children and young people in education? We are looking for a Data and Insights Manager to lead the ongoing development of our Salesforce CRM and help us make the most of our data to achieve our charity mission.
At Action Tutoring, data is central to everything we do. With an evidence-based culture and impact at the centre of our strategy, gathering and analysing high-quality data is a key priority.
Our highly customised Salesforce database supports every aspect of our work—capturing and managing data from volunteers, pupils, schools, and tutoring sessions. As Data and Insights Manager, you will make sure our system remains fit for purpose and help turn data into meaningful insights that can inform decision-making.
Duties and responsibilities
Salesforce and systems development
- Collaborate with external Salesforce development consultants to continue building our system capabilities and design.
- Design and oversee the collection of stakeholder, tutoring delivery, quality assurance and evaluation data, working with colleagues to ensure data is collected in a timely, accurate and consistent manner.
Team leadership and support
- Line manage the Data Lead, ensuring their work is of high quality and they have clear development objectives.
- Plan and oversee training and support for the whole organisation on the effective use of Salesforce, developing their understanding of the purpose and value of data.
Data insights
- Support the Head of Impact and Quality to generate insights from data to inform evidence-based decision-making across departments, including through dashboards.

Data governance
- Champion data security and GDPR compliance across the organisation, including contributing to the upkeep of privacy notices, responding to queries, and facilitating stakeholder GDPR rights.
- Any other reasonable tasks as per the request of the CEO.
About you (person specification)
Qualifications criteria:
- Right to work in the UK.
We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others:
- Two or more years experience with Salesforce administration.
- Experience working with complex datasets in Excel (including data cleaning in preparation for import, export or analysis).
- Experience analysing and visualising quantitative data.
- Good understanding of GDPR compliance and processes.
- Able to design new processes that are scalable, impactful and user-focused.
- Experience managing projects effectively.
- Confident in communicating change to stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative and inquisitive about how technology and automation can improve efficiency.
- Committed to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Committed to the mission and values of Action Tutoring.
- Committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children.
You will be likely be more successful in this role if you have:
- Salesforce Administrator Certification (or on track to complete within the next six months).
- Line management experience.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience using coding languages R, Python or SQL for data cleaning or analysis.
- Experience working in the charity or NGO sector.
Reports to: Head of Impact and Quality
Place of work: Flexible/hybrid. The candidate can be based anywhere in England. Our London office address is: 8-10, Fivefields, Grosvenor Gardens, London SW1W 0DH
Contract and hours: Permanent, full time contract (37.5 hours)
We offer flexible hours 9.30-4pm as core hours.
