This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Gateway Assessor to be fast tracked through the full Citizens Advice Generalist Adviser training programme within 6 months. You will also be working on a range of different projects and services providing direct advice to the public and undertaking casework on social welfare law issues.
Once assessed as having satisfactorily completed the initial six months training you will be issued with a new job description as a Generalist Advice Caseworker on a starting salary of £35,689 per annum.
- You must be a trained Gateway Assessor
- Have an understanding of the advice needs and issues of the local community in a diverse inner-city area

The Role
They are seeking a dedicated Advice Caseworker (Generalist) to join their team in Bradford. This role is part of their BMDC Advice Contract and plays a vital part in transforming and improving access to advice services for their community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver triage assessments and generalist advice at first contact.
- Provide outreach and telephone-based support on welfare, housing, and debt issues.
- Assist clients with income maximisation, benefit take-up, form filling, and written appeals.
- Maintain accurate case records using Advice Pro and contribute to statistical reporting.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with third parties and statutory bodies.
- Stay up to date with relevant legislation and maintain CPD.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience in providing welfare advice.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Understanding of advice quality standards and regulatory frameworks.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check before commencing employment.
Desirable:
- Experience in debt and/or housing advice.
- CertMap qualification or willingness to work towards it.
- Experience in case checking and report writing.
- Knowledge of MaPS, FCA, and AQS requirements.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport is required.
