Age UK Croydon have an established befriending service providing one-to-one befriending for older people in their home. We are now launching a new and exciting Gift of Friendship (GoF) Programme to run alongside this existing face to face and telephone befriending service.

The GoF programme will offer a new additional person-centred companionship service where volunteers and older people are matched to reduce loneliness and isolation together.  The service is person centred and dependent on the goals of the individual which could include, going for a walk, going shopping, attending activities or helping an older person to build or regain confidence in going out and about and developing more social connections. 

We are looking for excellent people skills, a strong initiative, and effective communications, including an ability to build relationships with clients and volunteers, and undertake matching in an astute and sensitive manner. You will also need excellent administration skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

The Supporter Services Team Leader will be responsible for promoting and delivering excellent supporter care to existing, potential and previous supporters of Battersea, developing relationships and maximising income for Battersea.
They will be a point of escalation for the supporter services team and will support and develop a team of volunteers. The role will lead on key fundraising products, proactively sharing information with stakeholders.

Objectives

• Provide first line of support to Supporter Services Administrators to ensure donations are processed promptly and efficiently and update the Income Generation database with accurate donation and supporter information
• Prepare and share weekly rota's allocating tasks per day for Supporter Services Administrators
• Ensure that volunteers, who assist the team to handle supporter enquiries, are appropriately recruited, trained and supported
• Decide the workload of the volunteers to get the maximum mutual benefit
• Take the lead on key products working with product owners to ensure the best supporter care
• Review and improve the volunteer team’s outputs for quality and accuracy, suggesting and implementing improvements as necessary
• Act within all relevant legislation and sector best practice, including PCI DSS compliance, the Data Protection Act, Gift Aid rules and regulations and the Institute of Fundraising and Fundraising Regulator codes of conduct

OUTLINE OF THE ROLE

Work with the Trustees to devise and lead new fundraising initiatives that fulfil the objectives of the Trust's Fundraising Strategy and annual income budget, with particular focus on regular giving across all alumni, gifts from high-net-worth individuals, and legacies. This will involve:

• Developing and delivering improved communications to build a stronger connected donor network.

• Locating, engaging and retaining alumni to support and promote the Trust, focused on ensuring their long-term impact on the Trust and its beneficiaries.

KEY TASKS

Work with the Trustees and Fundraising Committee to devise and implement the following:

• Improve communications

The Trust has a strong, growing, and engaged network of loyal alumni who already support the Trust's beneficiaries through fundraising and volunteering. However, the Trust's communications need to be improved in order to increase the numbers of donors who provide sustained financial support and inspire all donors to raise their level of donations. Continually find opportunities to engage new donors and ensure clear consistent messaging.

• Manage and maintain donor data

The Trust needs to maintain a full and accurate database of all donors and fundraising activities to support long-term tracking and inform future fundraising. This also requires networking among alumni and being vigilant to changes in alumni data.

• Research and approach alumni whose connection with the Trust has lapsed

Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

• Research untapped prospects

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the charity and its overall objectives. For instance, organizing fund-raising specific events in different regions. This position could evolve into a full-time commitment with a support team, but at the present time, support to this role will be provided through the existing network of volunteers.

Responsibilities

In this role you will have 6 key responsibilities:

Financial: Managing a portfolio of high-value relationships and to deliver income at the agreed annual target in the first year with an expectation this will rise year on year.

Management:  You will be one of the first points of contact internally for trusts/foundations and individual major donors (IMD) related queries and will work in accordance with the major giving team strategic plan and existing procedures, practices and standards.

Relationship:You will seek to actively develop and manage excellent relationships with an agreed portfolio of trusts/foundations and IMD capable of donating a minimum of £25,000 or more as a single gift each year. In addition you will need to:

• Develop and implement professionally written action plans which will engage, inform and nurture prospects and donors to deliver gifts at the agreed level.
• Undertake timely administration to capture and record knowledge of supporters within the customer relationship management database. Work with the organisation’s systems team to utilise this information to enhance applications and giving levels
• Pro-actively develop relationships with key stakeholders within the MAF organisation(s)
• Present MAF proposals alone or with others, (member of the operational field team, CEO etc), to prospects and donors.
• Participate in events to develop relationships with donors, inviting individuals from portfolios where appropriate and co-ordinate visits to MAF overseas operations where appropriate to introduce these donors directly to the work of MAF.  

Information: Information management and analytical thinking is essential as you will present detailed, accurate and high-quality fundraising proposals to prospects and donors, ensuring any specific deadlines or funding windows are complied with.   In addition you will need to:

• Ensure that donors are thanked appropriately for their gifts with timely and appropriate reports, letters and phone call.
• Provide timely ‘report backs’ that are appropriate/agreed with each donor, to evidence effective use of funding and to encourage the opportunity to make further applications based on good stewardship and achievement of agreed outcomes.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge, and the funding priority, of projects available for funding by trusts/foundations supporters and prospects.
• Actively seeking to grow the trusts/foundations portfolio and income through the use of research
• Attending regular appropriate training courses, external forums and networks to ensure continuous personal development 

Major Donor team (practice/ procedures/training):As a key member of the team you will need to ensure procedures and standards are developed/maintained to ensure we are effective and compliant with any legislation/regulation.

CRM Database: To provide support to the Partnership Executive, who will be the team’s CRM database lead and maintain a thorough working understanding of MAF UK’s CRM system in order to answer specific team queries.  You will need to support the teams day-to-day CRM activities including producing reports, importing data, adding activities, amending details and any other relevant tasks

4. At all times comply with statutory requirements for handling personal and sensitive data in a confidential manner

  Benefits:

• Salary:   £42,000 per annum depending upon experience 
• Hours: This role is full time, 36 hours per week
• Pension: MAF UK provides a non-contributory pension scheme for staff of 10% salary on joining
• Annual leave entitlement: 22 days per year plus 8 statutory paid public holidays per year (including those falling at Christmas and New Year).

Location: This role can be based at the MAF UK Offices in Scotland, Glasgow,  or optionally could be in the Oxford, Cambridge arc as we are launching a new hub in the Milton Keynes area, maximising our engagement with a thriving local aerospace and charity sector region.  Up to two days a week in our Folkstone Office might be initially required.We welcome hybrid working in line with our flexible working policy, the needs of the business, the requirements of the role and your location. You will be joining a supportive and ambitious Fundraising department as we embark on a new fundraising strategy (2025-2029), with a renewed focus on growing our supporter numbers alongside growing our income, so we can increase our impact for people with cystic fibrosis. This is a key role in the Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships team to help achieve its plans for growth. 
 
In this role, you will:

• Manage a portfolio of major donor relationships to raise substantial donations in line with agreed targets.
• Research, identify and cultivate new major donors and build strong ongoing relationships with existing supporters.
• Support the development and implementation of an effective major donor fundraising strategy to grow income over time.
• Organise and deliver high quality cultivation and stewardship events.
• Collaborate with other teams to identify projects that would be of interest to current and prospective major donors and prepare tailored proposals to secure funding.

 
We’re looking for someone with experience of fundraising from High-Net-Worth Individuals and a track record of securing high value gifts, with great communication and relationship building skills. You will have experience designing and delivering high impact stewardship programmes and an understanding of the legal, financial and ethical issues related to major gifts.

This charity is the UK's leading youth homelessness charity, supporting almost 14,000 young people every year and are campaigning to end youth homelessness by 2037. The Senior Philanthropy Manager will be responsible for a team bringing in income of over £1.3m per year, with a view to double income over the next 3 years.  Working closely with the Head of Relationship Fundraising and colleagues across the organisation, you will lead on the development and implementation of team plans to grow and diversify their high value donor portfolio, and deliver sustainable unrestricted and restricted income.
