About the role
As Senior Health Officer: Knowledge Management and Communication, you will be responsible for the knowledge management and MEAL functions for the health team. This will include collection, collation and dissemination of learning and evidence from across key country and donor markets. You will also be responsible for the dissemination and communication through various platforms, social media outlets. Within this role you will play a key role in highlighting both internally and externally the health team's achievements and keep the Movement updated on the impact they have had both in the UK and globally, while also reporting on all active grants and partnerships. You will get to work closely with all technical advisors and play an important role in the production of the team's publications as well as in organising policy advocacy events at the UK parliamentary and global levels.

In this role, you will: 

• Lead on the learning, reporting and communications for the health team, including on the various advocacy projects, grants and workstreams.
• Play a leading role in editing the health team's reports and policy briefing documents, including any research, fact-checking or writing that is required.
• Lead on updating and maintaining the health team's web pages. While maintaining brand requirements.
• Deliver high-quality editorial content for a wide range of planned key corporate communications, in line with the organisation's priorities and brand, implementing Save the Children's editorial style and standards.
• Ensure health team develop quality materials, blogs and thought pieces, while implementing our brand positioning, communications guidelines, and house style.

About you
To be successful, it is important that you have: 

• Demonstrable experience of high-quality health policy advocacy work, including writing and editorial skills.
• Experience of working with a range of partners to engage key policy stakeholders.
• Ability to write compelling, imaginative copy tailored for different audiences, explain complex issues in accessible and motivating language.
• Ability to research, absorb and retain information accurately and to lead publication projects where necessary.
• Experience of writing for the internet and other digital outlets. Understanding of basic web processes and ability to perform basic alterations to our website where necessary or liaise with developers to progress these.

SPANA - The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is the global charity for working animals in low-income countries. Since 1923, we have supported the welfare of working animals, including donkeys, horses, camels and elephants, in communities that depend on working animals for water, transport, agriculture and their very survival. Today, we support working animals across 26 countries, through a series of global projects and partnerships.

This role will be a part of the Global Programmes team, working alongside colleagues responsible for Education & Social Behaviour Change Communication, and Programme Quality and Delivery. The succesful candidate will liaise with colleagues in the Global Resources, Global Fundraising, Marketing, and Communication departments, and in support of our colleagues across the majority world. The role will report to the Director of Global Programmes, and directly oversee three Technical Animal Health & Welfare Advisors.

You will be responsible for delivering SPANA’s technical animal health and welfare work, relatedly, against the 2023-2027 SPANA strategy and its key performance indicators. Your work will be supported by a nascent external animal health and welfare advisory panel, as well as that of your direct reports. You will be responsible for representing the organisation in relevant fora, amongst other responsibilities as required.

While we classify this role as hybrid, it's worth noting that the vast majority of your work can be done from the comfort of your own home. Occasional in-person visits to our London office (located in Borough High Street), and all-staff gatherings will be necessary. Our full time hours are 34.5 hours per week and we offer core working hours between 10am and 4pm.

Key responsibilities 

Strategy 

• You will have responsibility for developing and delivering the organisation's technical animal health and welfare strategy, plans and policies, with a primary focus on best practice and quality;
• You will lead the development of a global technical audit tool to ensure best practice is consistent across all partners & programmes supported by SPANA.

Leadership

• Promote the development of your immediate team, and the technical capacity and development of animal health workers across the SPANA network. Provide mentoring and targeted training and support succession planning and growth.
• Develop a high-performing team culture within the Animal Health & Welfare Team that demonstrates organisational values.
• Maintain an effective working relationship with all colleagues and SPANA partners.

One Health

• Lead on the development of SPANA’s One Health quality framework and support the Global Programmes Team in ensuring effective delivery.
• Provide technical input in veterinary health and education based on robust data and researched evidence.
• Develop a strategy focused on improving animal health systems specific to working animals.
• Lead on the development and delivery of all aspects of the technical provision of SPANA’s animal health and welfare.
• Monitoring epidemiological trends of working animal health and welfare data to 1) advise on and support appropriate health responses and strategies; 2) inform animal health surveillance goals
• Ensure technical support and advice is effectively managed and consistent with SPANA’s standards.
• Work with the Global Programmes Team in developing robust technical indicators to ensure evidence drives decision making
• Design and oversee research and analysis activities to support the development of technical standards, innovation and programme development;
• Ensure the provision of subject matter expertise, translational evidence and advice in support of policy development in the fields of animal welfare, and in parallel working closely with the Head of Education & SBCC on education materials. This will include the provision of or contribution to briefings, submissions and official and organisational reports

Advocacy, Policy and Representation

• Collaborating with coalitions, external working groups and stakeholders, advising on and coordinating SPANA’s contribution to these groups, chairing where relevant and reporting back to relevant teams in SPANA.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure technical input is included in all external advocacy work as and where needed;
• At a global level, build effective relationships with key stakeholders in the animal welfare sectors, such as WOAH, AUiBAR, and FAO etc;
• Represent our work to supporters, influencers, key stakeholders and partners.

About You

Training and Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified Veterinarian MRCVS a minimum of 12 years of veterinary experience.
• Clinical experience in mixed or large animal practice.

Desirable

• Further qualifications in the areas of animal welfare, herd health, surveillance, preventive medicine, epidemiology or One Health is highly desirable
• Further qualifications or proven experience in project management and/or leadership.

Experience

• Experience of working or living in low-income countries
• Experience working in the animal welfare, humanitarian and/or development NGO sector.
• Experience of developing, monitoring and/or auditing technical standards in veterinary medicine is highly desirable.
• Experience of working with governmental, animal health or agricultural organisations is desirable
• Experience of communicating and working with international stakeholder groups collaboratively.
• Experience with participatory or community-led interventions for animal or public health.
• Strong interest in One Health concepts and community-level interventions.
• Good understanding of the role and socioeconomic importance of working animals in low-income communities.

Skills and Attributes

• Ability to think holistically and apply technical knowledge within a One Health framework
• Strong knowledge and motivation for animal welfare.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong cultural sensitivity.
• High level of fluency in English (written and spoken). Basic level of French, Arabic or Spanish is highly desirable.
• Ability and willingness to travel to overseas projects independently as well as to SPANA’s head office in the UK as required.

The Start Network is made up of close to 100 aid agencies working across six continents. Together, our aim is to transform humanitarian action through innovation, fast funding, early action, and locally driven humanitarian action. We're tackling what we believe are the biggest systemic problems that the sector faces. Problems including slow and reactive funding, centralised decision-making, and an aversion to change mean that people affected by crises around the world do not receive the best help fast enough, and needless suffering results. Our work focuses on responding to these problems. This includes shifting power closer to where crises happen, providing fast, early and predictable function and sharing learning and innovative ways of working.

The Start Network is at a critical point in its journey. We have grown and diversified our membership over the past 10 years. JOB PURPOSE

This senior management role will enable strategic thinking and design, influence diverse stakeholders, adapt agile ways of working and drive change in line with the vision of the Network.

You will enable the development of country and regional civil society hubs, driving decentralised decision-making, devolving power, and enabling local hub leaders to meet their needs defined and owned by them. You will work with the hubs and their members to understand their support needs, then facilitate and coordinate that support working with peer hubs and relevant members of the Start Network team expertise.

The role requires a good understanding of and experience in the humanitarian and/or development sectors, and an ability to work with local civil society. Awareness of power and political dynamics and sensitivity to different contexts and cultures is crucial. It also requires high levels of self-awareness and emotional intelligence, using your position connect, enable and influence others. You will be skilled at building relationships and brokering partnerships with empathy, credibility and equity. Listening and valuing diverse perspectives to build an inclusive team will be key to success. Solid programme and budget management will be critical to enabling the hubs vision and activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, development planning

• With members and hubs, co-design, develop and enable the evolution of Start Network of Networks, including hubs.
• Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of support, expertise and services to hubs
• Work closely with the Membership and Assurance teams to support iNGO and member intake through hubs.
• Work closely with the Funds, Finance and Innovation teams to facilitate the co-design and development of programmatic initiatives, based on hub priorities.
• Work with hubs and the Start Network team to create a culture of evidence-based decision making, feedback and learning so that we can adapt support to emerging needs.
• Advise senior leadership on hub issues and strategy Partnership brokering and relationship management
• Foster and broker positive and enabling relationships and partnerships within hubs, between hubs and between hubs and Start Network Secretariat.
• Effectively manage complex issues which arise out of shifting power dynamics ensuring teams and stakeholders work towards a common vision; Resolve any conflicts and address issues that may arise within hubs, promoting constructive dialogue.
• Work with the Advocacy and External Affairs team to help raise hub voices and perspectives in local and global forums.
• Influence and advocate internally and externally for locally driven humanitarian action, creating and holding space to support the emergence of hubs based on their aspirations, priorities and needs.

• At least 7-10 years’ experience in a management/senior management role in the humanitarian, development or social enterprise sectors

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location: Rutland House, 44 Masons Hill, Bromley, BR2 9RG, and you will also need to work at locations around the borough

The Service:

The service facilitates peer support and delivery of monthly workshops and drop- ins. The service will provide first-class, person-centred information, advice and guidance to people with learning disabilities through both one-to-one and group support.

The Role:

You will provide relevant and accurate information, support, guidance and signposting including both one-to-one and group support for people with complex issues. Support will be flexibly based operating out of a central Bromley office but delivered at various venues across the borough. You will act in a key working capacity where necessary, ensuring services are joined up and holistic, provide advocacy and attend case management meetings as required.

• Able to research and provide information about community services
• Excellent communication skills with all groups, particularly with people with a learning disability

About the role

The main purpose of the role is to coordinate the Methodist Church’s response to the arrival of Hong Kong nationals in Great Britain.  

This will involve liaising with the Methodist Church in Hong Kong and with circuits and local churches in Britain to ensure pastoral support for Hong Kong Methodists as they make the transition to this country.  You will help to motivate local circuits and churches to welcome and integrate the new arrivals into congregations, and you will provide support and training to facilitate this.  You will also develop connections with Cantonese-speaking groups and congregations already in existence, and may be involved in facilitating the formation of new ones.  Establishing connections and fostering supportive relationships to enable an effective network that brings together Methodists from Hong Kong and British churches, is key to your role.

About you

Bilingual in written and spoken Cantonese and English and a confident communicator in both languages.  You enjoy bringing people together and helping form new groups and congregations.  As this role will entail working with circuits and local churches, you will need strong project management and administrative skills. You need to be both self-motivating and a strong team player. Your work will help the Church to communicate and live out Our Calling.

Centre for London is London’s independent think tank, and a registered charity. As Research Director, you will lead Centre for London’s research team, developing new solutions to London’s critical challenges, securing funding for our work, preparing, publishing and promoting reports, supporting public events, and communicating our work to stakeholders and policymakers. 

As a member of the senior leadership team, you will help develop and implement the organisational strategy; contribute to the development, fundraising and delivery of events and other projects; and promote the ideas of the organisation to build its influence in existing and new public and private arenas. 

The recommendations of your team will make a difference to policy and practice – tackling issues such as housing, poverty and inequality, employment and skills, transport and the public realm, the climate and nature crises, community resilience, and London’s place in the UK and the world. You will be line– managed by the CEO and work closely with the External Affairs and Development teams.

This role would best suit someone with significant experience leading policy research programmes – in a think tank, consultancy, central or local government, academia or similar. You will have a strong understanding of policy in London and the UK, project management skills, and be able to credibly communicate complex ideas to different audiences – in meetings, in writing, through blogs and articles, and in speeches. You will have strong analytical skills, including a track record of qualitative and quantitative research. You will have experience in fundraising, will have managed budgets, and will be confident working with researchers at different stages in their careers. However, we are less interested in what you have done, and more in what you can do.

This is ideally a full-time role; however, flexible working is embedded within our culture. About this role

This role is an opportunity to participate in the global movement to protect the natural world; meeting and supporting incredible communities and organisations driving change to secure a sustainable future. You will be supporting our partners and carrying out grant administration in the Amphibian and Congo Basin Programmes, for which proficiency in both French and English is essential.

The role will be a fundamental part of Synchronicity Earth’s Programmes team (currently a team of seven people), working to help develop and grow the support we provide to our partners (grantees) across our programmes. Reporting, location, and work hours

This position is a permanent full-time position that is based in the Synchronicity Earth offices in Central London, with the option for hybrid office/home working if the successful applicant wishes with 2 days a week in the office (laptop would be provided for home working). Annual leave

25 days per year for a full-time position (in addition to public holidays), adjusted for part-time. About the role

Our Green Space for Health programme helps to realise the value of green space for physical and mental health, both at healthcare sites and in the wider community. Our flagship project, the NHS Forest, promotes tree planting and woodland creation at NHS sites, supporting and encouraging sites to plant and maintain trees through offering free trees and advice. We support NHS sites to develop their greenspace for the benefits of patients, health staff and communities, while improving biodiversity and combatting climate change. We do this by encouraging green space enhancements such as meadow areas, vegetable growing, orchards and therapeutic gardens, as well as supporting the delivery of nature-based interventions for health.

The Green Space for Health Director will oversee the development of the NHS Forest and other Green Space for Health projects, delivering the programme strategy. This will include managing the Green Space for Health team, overseeing the delivery of our funded projects including budget management, coordinating reports to funders and trustees, and taking a strategic lead on the development and funding of the Green Space for Health programme in consultation with other stakeholders. The Green Space for Health Director will deliver our programme strategy through fulfilling the following responsibilities:

• Provide line management for the Green Space for Health Team’s 5 staff members. This will include one-to-one meetings, appraisals and regular team meetings.

Service delivery

• Ensure that all aspects of Rahab’s project activities are planned, organized and undertaken to fulfil their objectives within their required timelines.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate project risks, delays and issues to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.

• Work with the team to identify and engage in new professional relationships with key organisations across different sectors, and maintain our existing networks of contacts, to (i) develop and expand Rahab’s activities and reach, and (ii) foster collaboration. 

• Represent Rahab in multi-agency working groups, meetings, and forums, sharing knowledge and learning, publicising services available and how to access support. 

Beneficiary co-production 

• Work with Manager to start developing a framework and mechanism for gathering feedback from beneficiaries to evaluate the support they are receiving. 

• Work with the team to identify opportunities for our beneficiaries’ active participation in the project in ways that are safe and empowering.

In this role you will be involved in supporting the effective facilitation of the Baby Friendly programme and helping to develop and support new and existing initiatives. We also expect the job holder to be able to take an active role in carrying out assessments of services seeking Baby Friendly accreditation and training. You will also support the National Infant Feeding Network.

You will be a practitioner with experience of leading on the implementation of the

UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative standards in a relevant UK public service and of teaching infant feeding to health professionals. We especially welcome interest from applicants with current midwifery experience or experience in neonatal services.

About this key role

Working as part of a larger Trainer and Assessor team, our successful candidate will work with allocated learners to produce realistic assessment plans, assessing learners using a range of assessment methods appropriate for the vocational qualification assessment criteria, and provide vital one-to-one support to learners as appropriate, ensuring you monitor their progress towards timely completion and certification.

We will also rely on you to liaise and work in co-operation with the Trust’s internal quality assurers to ensure compliance with standards, to attend and participate in internal and external meetings, best practice seminars and continuous professional development opportunities, plus undertake the administration necessary for tracking learner progress.  Working constructively with colleagues to achieve project targets and responding to requests for information are also both important elements of this role, as is supporting local community projects with advertising, recruiting, and facilitating Release on Temporary Licence (ROTLS).

• Experience of working to targets and recording information to enable effective performance monitoring
• Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (or equivalent assessor certification)
• Sound understanding of the issues faced by project participants in accessing and sustaining training or employment and how these can be overcome
