Sightsavers is looking for a Deputy Director: Institutional Funding - a new role within our expanding team, deputising for the Director and ensuring the effective implementation of the organisation's institutional funding strategy.

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000

• Experience of working with multiple stakeholders up to senior management.
• Deep understanding of international development issues and how they relate to Sightsavers' work.

The opportunity

The Director of External Engagement at Girls Not Brides devises and oversees implementation of fundraising, communications, advocacy & campaigns strategy to help realise Girls Not Brides’ vision of a world free of child marriage, where girls and women enjoy equal status to boys and men and can fulfil their potential in every aspect of their lives. Uses leadership skills and extensive experience of global and local fundraising, communications, campaigns and advocacy to support the organisation’s strategic objectives - movement building, influencing and learning - to empower others, opening spaces for voices to be raised, and drive transformational change. Works as part of a globally-dispersed and diverse team, and closely with members, National Partnerships and coalitions. Contributes to the organisational strategy as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

Strategic planning and organisational leadership

• Lead the implementation of the Secretariat’s communications, advocacy and fundraising  strategies which deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-25.
• Set out how the team will use creative campaigning tactics, targeted policy and advocacy,impactful communications and fundraisning  to help build the movement to end child marriage, influence those with power to make change, and share evidence and learning.
• Contribute to broad organisational leadership and strategic development, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Lead the communications, advocacy and fundraising teams, with up to five direct line reports, plus dotted line responsibilities.
• Responsible for planning and monitoring the directorate’s budget 
• Advise and inform the CEO, Board and other key stakeholders around key communications, advocacy and campaigns moments.

Empowered communications

• Support the globally-dispersed Girls Not Brides communications team to work with members to find and tell stories of girls’ lives and of the latest evidence and learning that exemplify the realities of child marriage and the solutions; demonstrate that change is needed, and change is happening.
• Work with the Communications team to leverage a wide range of communications channels, including media, website, social media, and events to convey the key messages and findings from Girls Not Brides’ work in a way that enables those without power to be heard, and convinces those with power to support positive change for girls. 
• Oversee and explore ways of landing Girls Not Brides stories and policy and campaign asks at the local, national, regional and international level in a way that is context specific and impactful. Be creative and unconventional in your use of content and tactics to reach, engage and influence target audiences.
• Lead the communications team in inspiring audiences to support and join the movement to end child marriage and Girls Not Brides, through documenting and showcasing the results of collective action and developing compelling calls to collective action.
• Oversee the work of the communications team to hone and harness the potential of the Girls Not Brides brand, history, and global network to inspire change and increase member engagement.

Effective advocacy

• Oversee and facilitate direct and indirect engagements with policymakers and decision makers at the local, national, regional and global level, as well as those who influence and advise to take action to end child marriage.
• Lead on ensuring strong synergies between advocacy at national, regional and global levels, coordinatoring between advocacy team members in the regions and the global advocacy team.
• Lead global stakeholder engagement including working with relevant UN organisations, sector leaders, and thematic international organisations to ensure that child marriage is reflected in their policies, budgets and programming.  
• Lead Girls Not Brides sector integration agenda, maintain strong existing partnerships, and identify new allies to enhance broader sector integration of ending child marriage.
• Support colleagues, National Partnerships and members to develop and use advocacy skills, and monitor, analyse, influence and respond to relevant legislative and policy opportunities at the global, regional and national level.
• Oversee production and dissemination of policy and advocacy content including fact sheets, policy briefs, updates, and position statements. 
• Oversee trainings and development programmes for the secretariat and global partnership, including webinars and learning series.

Transformational campaigns

• Grow and strengthen the movement, harness its potential, ensure Girls Not Brides connects, empowers and amplifies diverse groups around the world united behind a shared cause.
• Oversee Girls Not Brides’ work with local groups, activists, girls and their families to use campaigning and engagement to shift socio-cultural attitudes, including among elders and community leaders, about how girls can and should expect to be treated, respected and empowered.
• Work with the Adovocay team  to identify and plan for at least four big moments in the year, either at the global, regional or national level where members of the wider movement can come together to collaborate for change, engage young activists, and support and learn from each other.
• Work closely with the Development and Outreach team to support and deploy champions, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage.

Impactful fundraising

• Direct and lead the implementation of Girls Not Brides’ global and regional fundraising strategy for the secretariat and the wider movement, to ensure a diverse and sustainable income portfolio.
• Lead the creation and diversification of a business development plan, targeting new actors such as businesses, high-net-worth individuals, legacies, etc.
• Lead the cultivation and strengthening of donor relationships, alongside the CEO, to bring in new funding and grant renewals, build donors as champions. 
• Oversee and ensure long term projection for income, also overseeing pipeline and prospecting and directing the development of concept notes and proposals.
• Oversee the development of a case for support, multi-year funding opportunities.
• Make recommendations to the CEO in relation to funding decisions, and sign off documents for donors in line with delegated responsibilities.
• Close liaison with CEO, Director of Operations and Finance to help develop annual budgets, targets and a sustainable growth model.
• Direct the development of donor communications and assets, including but not limited to annual reports and promotional materials. 
• Assume responsibility for quality assurance on donor communications and collaborations.
• Contribute to the finance team’s work on contracting and compliance.

Influential outreach and visibility

• Lead the development of a strategic approach to building the secretariat’s visibility, partnerships and profile.
• Oversee the identification of strategic opportunities (including trips, events and media appearances) to profile the voices of Girls Not Brides’ internal leaders and external stakeholders to advocate on ending child marriage.
• Oversee the planning and convening of Girls Not Brides’ events and meetings calendar, as well as the high-profile visits to high prevalence and donor countries by the CEO, Champions, and Trustees.
• Alongside the CEO, lead and deepen the partnerships with the Girls First Fund and VOW for Girls at the global level.
• Oversee and lead the development and outreach team’s work to support and deploy champions, advisors, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage across sectors (including politics, business, grassroots activists and NGOs).
• Represent Girls Not Brides externally and further cultivate Girls Not Brides’ network of funders, supporters, Champions and Advisors.

Essential experience

The Role

We are seeking a driven, talented, energetic and creative individual for the role of Director of Development. This is a one-year maternity cover post.

In this role, you will work closely with and report to the Principal and Chief Executive and will be responsible for implementing and delivering a comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategy for LAMDA.

You will lead and deliver major gift campaigns, including the biennial Gala, to ensure the sustainability and success of LAMDA as the world’s leading centre for drama training. To be successful, you will be confident and proactive, a verbal and written communicator and a skilled networker with a very strong track record of relationship building. Additionally, you will have proven experience of working in a senior fundraising role in the arts, higher education or charity sector.

In this role, you will work 35 hours per week (9.30 am – 5.30 pm), Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work outside these hours to attend events and productions in accordance with business needs.

In support of Mercy Corps’ mission, the global Corporate and Foundation Partnerships team manages Mercy Corps’ fundraising relationships with major global companies and foundations. We set bold visions for the positive social change we can create with our partners, provide outstanding partner services and relationship management, and together build meaningful partnerships that provide value to all parties while creating lasting impact for the local communities where we work. Our partnerships span areas including emergency response, economic and market development, food and water security, climate change, and peacebuilding. We work across many teams at Mercy Corps, including marketing and communications, mass market fundraising, the executive office, and with our programme and country-based colleagues around the world. This position sits within Mercy Corps’ Development team.

The Position 

The Communications Officer, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships will focus on two key workstreams: 1) Implementing the communications and profile-raising strategy for the Development team’s $250M Climate: Possible global campaign and 2) Communications projects supporting European corporate and foundation partners. Working closely with the Communications Director, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, and the Senior Director of Development in Europe, this position will coordinate across internal teams, including fundraising relationship managers and communications and marketing team members, and liaise directly with external partners.

Essential Responsibilities 

CLIMATE: POSSIBLE COMMUNICATIONS & PROFILE-STRATEGY SUPPORT (60%)

●Support the execution of the Climate: Possible communications plan, including managing the creation of thought leadership deliverables, developing written and other creative content, and coordinating internal reviews.

●Create an editorial calendar, develop and track an ongoing stream of content for executive and agency social media channels that highlights Mercy Corps’ expertise in climate adaptation programming.

●Event support, including developing briefing documents, talking points, invitation copy, and social media promotion for external climate conferences and events and Mercy Corps-organised corporate and foundation partnership events.

●Create new deliverables and update the existing suite of Climate: Possible marketing materials, as needed.

GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR CORPORATE & FOUNDATION AUDIENCES (35%)

●Contribute to the development and implementation of multi-channel profile-raising strategies in support of the European strategic plan. Contribute to the profile and influence strategy to raise Mercy Corps’ profile with key corporate and foundation donors and prospects.

●Manage emergency response coordination for the Global Corporate and Foundation Partnership teams in partnership with the Global Sr. Communications Officer. Write emergency response communications (creating and sourcing content from internal teams), including email solicitations and updates, and help create donor deliverables, including decks and webinars to support emergency response fundraising amongst Corporate and Foundation partners.

●Source, transform, and create content into compelling Corporate and Foundation audience-specific products, including emails, blog and social posts, pitch decks, fact sheets, and videos.

●Serve as the communications lead, in partnership with corporate relationship managers, for corporate co-fundraising opportunities and submission prizes and competitions.

●Support strategic employee communications efforts for top European corporate partners in partnership with the Employee Engagement Officer.

●Monitor social media accounts of key Corporate and Foundation partners, and draft suggested posts for executive or agency engagement. 

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND TEAM PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (5%) 

• Develop and maintain internal documents to track communications projects and evaluate and prioritise communications opportunities with partners.
• Stay abreast and socialize internal communications resources and general fundraising communication trends with the Corporate and Foundation teams. 
• Contribute to Mercy Corps’ ethical fundraising and communications strategy by creating materials in line with our ethical storytelling approach and guidelines.

Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising

The Major Gifts Manager, International Fundraising will support PETA’s global programmes by securing vital funding from new and existing supporters. This role will advance the fundraising potential of PETA France and PETA Netherlands and work closely with existing teams within the UK and Germany.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Who we are:

The Dalit Solidarity Network UK is a small human rights organisation working to eliminate caste-based discrimination in the UK and South Asia. Registering as an official charity in 2003, Dalit Solidarity Network UK continues to grow as an effective campaigning and advocacy organisation, working on the issue of caste discrimination in the UK and being an active player in the global movement.  Our major areas of work include documenting 'everyday casteism', building capacity of businesses to address caste-discrimination in overseas supply chains and UK operations and working with UK Higher Education Institutions to protect against caste-discrimination.

Summary of the role:

We are seeking a new Director who will be responsible for working with the Board to:

i) Develop and deliver of DSN-UK's overall strategy and objectives;

ii) Provide strategic leadership to influence the policy and practice of key stakeholders to further DSN’s vision of a ‘world without caste discrimination’;

iii) Lead overall management of DSN-UK, including management of DSN-UK staff, its finances and other resources.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Leadership and strategy

Responsible for implementing DSN-UK’s strategy through specific campaign, lobbying and advocacy activities, including development of key messages and influencing strategies. 

Maintaining partnerships and network support within the UK, with partners in South Asia and international partners.

Conducting joint advocacy at UK/EU/UN level, representing these issues at UK Government level and participating in  other joint initiatives as appropriate.

Operational Management

Responsible for the day-to-day management of DSN-UK, including key  aspects of its internal administration, particularly providing oversight of financial management, annual budgets and the preparation of regular financial and programme reports for the Board.

Fundraising:

Leading the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy for DSN-UK, preparing funding proposals and reporting to donors on project achievements.

Human Resources:

Managing one part time office administrator and appointing other staff, volunteers and consultants in consultation with the Chair.

What we are looking for in a Director:

1. A track record of successfully working at a senior level with strategic leadership and management responsibilities.

The Director of Development Operations plays a critical role in significantly growing development income at Kew, leading a high-performance team and developing and embedding best practice fundraising across the Development Directorate and broader Kew. Job Responsibilities

Trust and foundations

• Update the trusts and foundations database and managing the pipeline of activity
• Prepare tailored applications to trusts and foundations
• Manage reporting deadlines to funders
• Work closely with the artistic teams and Executive Director to shape proposals
• Create budgets working with the Executive Director, Finance Director, Artistic Directors and Project Leads 

Individual and Corporate Giving

• Create individual giving schemes, exploring the potential for new initiatives such as membership and legacy programmes
• Cultivate relationships with potential individuals and steward donors
• Research potential corporate supporters – both corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sponsorship
• Pitch to potential donors and supporters

Event Planning

• Create a programme of cultivation events which could:

- thank and nurture existing donors

- act as a precursor to giving

- introduce individuals and companies to potential campaigns

- begin new relationship development

Good practice, such as ethical fundraising

• Development of an ethical fundraising statement, in partnership with Executive and Board
• Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations
• Supporting team in being part of a fundraising culture

General

• Day to day management of fundraising budget, creating and monitoring income targets and delivering compelling company messaging around charitable giving on and offline. 

Ideal candidates will have skills and experience as shown in the candidate pack including:

• Evidence of alignment with charity’s vision, mission, values and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Lived experience of disabling or marginalising barriers.
• Understanding and experience of performing arts landscape, key figures, organisations and funders.
• A curious, inclusive, flexible and collaborative working style with proven ability to work as part of a team across all levels.​.
• Clear communicator, team player, tolerant of other views.
• Fundraising track record, delivering against targets (in a similar sized arts or not-for-profit) and of securing significant donations at the five-figure level or more.
• Experience of monitoring and reporting against targets and managing budgets.
• Adept at supporting and structuring negotiations and at building relationships with stakeholders including Arts Council England.
• Thorough knowledge of the relevant fundraising legislation, regulations and financial issues and fundraising obligations of arts charities/Arts Council National Portfolio Organisations.
• Strong literacy, administrative, time management and organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to continuing professional development.
• Experience of dealing with public sector organisations at a senior level.
• Membership of relevant educational and/or professional bodies.

St. Margaret's House (SMH) are looking for a dynamic Executive Director (ED) to join our senior leadership at an exciting time in the organisation's development.

The ED will work collaboratively with the Arts and Wellbeing Director to fulfil the vision, mission and strategic objectives of SMH, taking on the role of Co-CEO following the departure of our long-standing CEO.

We are looking for someone with varied fundraising, finance, human resources and business development experience to implement a vision for the future growth of the charity with particular reference to improving our buildings and directing the retail and hospitality areas of work.
