ABOUT US
The WHO Foundation (WHOF), launched in May 2020 and headquartered in Geneva, was created as an independent Swiss foundation affiliated with but independent of WHO. Its mission is to mobilize greater private capital and partnership to advance the mission of the World Health Organization (WHO), enabling catalytic impact on the people whose lives rely on WHO’s work and facilitating innovation to maximise the impact of the resources we invest.
WHO plays a singular role in leading the global health ecosystem, acting as a first-responder to health crises — including the current conflict in Ukraine and on behalf of the 15+ million people in urgent need of aid in Horn of Africa; producing technical guidelines and tools to prevent and treat disease; and acting as a country-level convener with an unparalleled level of trust. The crises of the 21st century, including COVID-19, have made clear both the inequity of access to effective and affordable healthcare and the indispensable role of WHO. Yet WHO lacks sufficient resources to fulfil its mandate. And, beyond funding, its vision cannot be achieved by the public sector alone.
The WHO Foundation was therefore created as an independent Swiss foundation affiliated with but independent of WHO to marshal new resources from philanthropists, foundations, businesses, and individuals to support its mission: promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable, while protecting the neutrality and independence of WHO as the world’s leading health authority. WHOF is a nexus for unique opportunities in global health, facilitating game-changing opportunities between the private sector and WHO. Our focus is on mobilizing grant income, shared value partnerships, and investment to power WHO’s work.

About Ambitious Impact (AIM)
Ambitious Impact (AIM), formerly Charity Entrepreneurship, launches organizations that cost-effectively improve human and animal lives at scale. To do so, we find talented potential entrepreneurs and provide them with world-class training, research, mentorship, and funding to start new organizations.
AIM’s work is grounded in the conviction that the world’s most significant problems can be solved by talented, dedicated entrepreneurs using evidence, innovation, and a laser focus on cost-effective impact.
Since 2018, we have incubated over 50 charities, providing talented founders with evidence-based intervention ideas, ongoing mentorship, and seed funding. Together, they are estimated to improve the lives of more than 75 million people and 1 billion animals worldwide and have been backed by organizations like GiveWell, Mulago, the Gates Foundation, and Animal Charity Evaluators.
Our flagship Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program currently launches ~10 nonprofits per year. In 2026, we want to double this, launching more than 20 charities improving lives at scale. Our bottleneck to launching more impactful charities isn't funding – it's finding the right people and ideas. Will you join us to help find the ideas that our next founders will turn into world-changing organizations?
If you’re curious what it’s like to work at AIM, we have just created a video [https://youtu.be/YjMDSHVCGFQ] where our team sits down to share their favorite aspects of the organisation, who might find it less of a good fit, and what kinds of people thrive with us.
About the Role
We seek two analytic and entrepreneurial Research Managers to contribute to our ambitious research agenda, and scale the Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program from launching ~12 charities per year to 20. In these roles, you will be key in finding the ideas we recommend to future entrepreneurs, like those listed on this page.
Research roles at AIM offer unparalleled opportunities to do good through research. Within six months to a year of publication, our work becomes a fully fledged non-profit working to implement the solutions proposed by our analysis.
You will join a tight-knit team of researchers, which currently includes Filip (Senior Research Manager, Global Health and Development), Vicky (Senior Research Manager, Animal Welfare), and Morgan (Research Director).
“Research work at AIM is really unique in how applied it is. With most other research, you have to hope that you change someone's mind, or that anyone reads it. With AIM, you will have people picking up your work and dedicating their careers to working on the issue you have identified as little as 6 months later.
I've been here for six years because I love the work and think it is rewarding. Even though the process hasn't changed too much over that time, I haven't gotten bored because I kept looking into different ideas all the time, which keeps it new and interesting.”
Vicky Cox (Senior Research Manager, Animals) - Author of reports that led to Shrimp Welfare Project and Animal Policy International.

Are you a creative fundraiser who can show how powerful journalism changes the world?
We’re looking for someone with energy and imagination who can demonstrate our impact and build strong relationships with funders – making the case for ambitious investigative journalism that holds power to account.
You’ll work closely with our Development Director and project leads, playing a central role in securing the resources that power our investigations. If you love variety, know how to tell a compelling story, and want to use your skills to back fearless impact-led journalism, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role
We are the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative newsroom. Media partners around the world publish our reporting and hold power to account across five areas: environment, health, big tech, dirty money, and local power.
This role will initially focus on supporting two of those teams as they deliver journalism that drives real-world change. But it may also support work on new and emerging issues such as the rise of mis- and disinformation and how that affects UK communities. The two teams are:
-
Bureau Local: works with communities to uncover hidden stories in the UK. The Bureau Local team has reported on the exploitation of migrant workers, run a community-led project aimed at giving voice to the Trans+ community, and brought transparency to the family courts system through reporting and training.
-
Enablers: investigates the lawyers, accountants, and financial structures that allow dirty money to flow through the UK. Their work has prompted major regulatory investigations and legal action, challenging how corruption is facilitated at home and abroad..
Our fundraising
The Bureau is almost entirely funded through grants and donations – without our supporters, we couldn’t do what we do. Over recent years, we’ve grown to a team of 35 people with an annual income of £2.8m, backed by a committed network of trusts, foundations, and individuals.
This is an exciting time to join our fundraising team as we build on those strong relationships and explore new ways to diversify our income.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work with project leads to take their ideas and build a strong case for support, translating complex issues into powerful, accessible narratives for funders.
- Manage relationships with existing funders, ensuring timely reporting, effective stewardship and continued support.
- Research and develop a pipeline of new prospects.
- Write compelling proposals and applications to secure new grants.
- Collaborate with our other Fundraising Manager, who leads on environment, global health and big tech, and occasionally help in those areas.
- Potentially support projects to diversify our income, such as helping to grow our major donor programme.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Bureau - from reporters and impact producers to operations and finance – and play an active part in maintaining a collaborative, supportive workplace culture.
- Pitch in on a range of fundraising tasks, big and small, to keep the Bureau in the best position to deliver its journalism.
Skills and Experience
You don’t need to tick every box in this ad – we are committed to hiring people with potential. If you feel like you lack some specific experience but have the necessary drive and passion, please don’t be deterred from applying.
• Fundraising track record: 5+ years’ experience raising significant money for charities or non-profits, especially from foundations (HNW experience a bonus).
• Grants expertise: confidence in managing the full cycle from initial due diligence and agreements through to reporting back about our work.
• Great communicator: able to translate complex issues into strong and compelling proposals; fluent in English.
• Researcher and analyst: skilled at identifying new funding opportunities.

• Collaborative: comfortable working with colleagues at all levels in a newsroom environment.
