Job description

Permanent Role:   Global Contracts and Procurement Manager

Reporting To:         Senior Operations Manager

Location: London

Salary:                 c£40,000 plus benefits

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, now in its 14th year, connects 94 of the world’s greatest cities which have committed to tackling climate change. bringing mayors from around the world together to learn from each other in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating resilient, sustainable and low carbon cities. C40 cities represent more than 700 million urban citizens and their economies account for 25% of the global GDP. C40’s ‘Deadline 2020’ report sets out the critical role that the world’s major cities have to play in delivering the historic Paris Agreement to prevent catastrophic climate change.

This is a new position created to support C40’s growth. It is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an ambitious, mission driven organization while collaborating with an extremely passionate, diverse, and international group of individuals. By overseeing the global procurement and contracting functions, the Global Contracts & Procurement Manager will have a significant impact on the effectiveness of C40. As a member of the Corporate Services team, the post holder will advise internal stakeholders on a daily basis and be expected to think strategically about their role. Their time will be split between responding to the day-to-day needs of the organization and driving long term projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Review all incoming procurement requests and non-grant contracts, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Revise and draft service provider agreements, statements of work, partnership agreements, memoranda of understanding, secondment agreements, and other agreements as needed
  • Negotiate agreements with service providers, cities, and partners
  • Engage external counsel for advice on legal matters
  • Ensure effective collaboration with all internal stakeholders including Finance, HR, the Operations Support Team, and programme teams
  • Continually review and improve staff trainings and guidance documents
  • Improve and mature the existing procurement process, contracts management system, and supplier management system
  • Project manage special initiatives assigned by the Sr. Operations Manager
  • Advise the Corporate Services and programmes teams on all matters related to contracting and procurement

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrable relevant work experience
  • Experience interpreting and drafting legal documents in a non-attorney capacity
  • Proven ability to build consensus among teams, ideally internationally
  • Strong judgement and ability to accurately articulate the pros and cons of a course of action, based on established facts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing a procurement process beneficial
  • Experience with a project management framework beneficial

Other Requirements:

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Some travel may be required as part of the role.
