Position: Coalition Coordinator

Contract: Full-time, 2 year fixed-term
Salary range: dependent upon experience and location
Position overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the leading NGOs dedicated to the protection, conservation, and restoration of the world's oceans. The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), Oceana, The Nature Conservancy, The Pew Charitable Trusts and WWF are working together as the EU IUU Fishing Coalition to promote EU leadership in improving global fisheries transparency and governance to end illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Since 2014, the Coalition has been working to improve the EU's own anti-IUU fishing systems and policies, and to promote some of the EU’s best practices on ocean governance and fisheries transparency in other regions such as East Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Using the EU’s influence as a major flag and market State, we are helping the EU to drive policy change at the global level, prioritising increasing transparency in the fisheries sector as a means to improve global fisheries governance. To achieve this, we are working with the EU as it implements its zero-tolerance commitment against IUU fishing and to improve ocean governance, urging EU agencies and states to be ambitious and ensure that positive reforms are sustained. We are also engaging the EU, as a major global player, to work more closely with other seafood markets, such as Japan and the US, to harmonise policies to stop IUU fishing. To make this happen, we are engaging with key decision-makers, strengthening relationships with the seafood industry and the NGO community, engaging citizens on the topic, using media strategically and providing intelligence to the EU.
To oversee the delivery of these objectives, the Coalition is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to work closely with the Strategic Board and working level project partners (core group) to achieve the successful management of the project. The individual will have excellent management and organisational skills and be capable of working with a dispersed and diverse multinational team. They should have the ability to provide strategic direction, good negotiation skills and experience building high-performance cultures. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess good written and verbal communication skills, initiative and professional drive. Experience in working within coalitions is an advantage.
For more information about our work as a Coalition, please visit www.iuuwatch.eu.

o Organise and chair the quarterly Coalition in-person meetings and weekly update calls.
● Project Implementation Support:

o Facilitate discussion, negotiation, consensus-building and decision-making within project teams. Although project partners are responsible for designing and implementing their workplan and strategies, the guidance of the Coordinator is essential to ensure that goals are met and that progress is made and tracked.
o Oversee the project budget, including creating annual budgets, monitoring expenses, and ensuring all expenditures on planned activities are done on time.
● Reporting and Communication:
o Draft progress reports for the project with the input and feedback of Coalition partners.
o Coordinate development of financial reports for the project with the finance and administration teams of Coalition partners.

o Prepare regular updates on project progress to the Coalition board members.

About World Child Cancer
Most childhood cancers are curable. We know this because survival rates in the UK and Europe regularly top 80%. But for children in low and middle-income countries, the prognosis is bleak with their chance of survival falling to 20%.
The solution? It already exists. The challenge is making sure that every child gets the diagnosis, treatment and care they need. Yet in many countries, public and professional awareness of childhood cancer is dangerously low. Opportunities for early diagnosis are missed. Referrals are delayed. And there are not enough health workers with the specialist skills to diagnose and treat the disease.
It is children and families that pay the price.
Determined to balance this inequality, World Child Cancer works with local, regional, and international partners in some of the world’s poorest countries to improve: Treatment, early diagnosis, family support and advocacy.
Created in 2007, World Child Cancer is a small yet fast-growing, ambitious international charity.
