World Child Cancer is seeking an experienced corporate and philanthropy fundraiser to join our growing team and play a vital role in improving the chances of survival and quality of life of children with cancer in under-resourced countries.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

World Child Cancer’s goal is to help redress that inequity and improve the chances of children with cancer to survive and thrive in under-resourced countries. We currently work with local hospitals in 12 countries in Africa, Asia and Mexico to enable children with cancer to have equal access to the best possible treatment and care through awareness raising on signs of childhood cancer, providing financial, logistical and emotional support to address barriers to access treatment, training of healthcare workers and advocacy.

Overview of the role

This newly created Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager role will play a key part in raising income from companies and philanthropists to help achieve World Child Cancer’s mission.

You will be passionate about enabling children with cancer to have equitable access to quality treatment wherever they are born. We are looking for someone experienced in corporate and philanthropy fundraising, who is proactive, confident in engaging with high value funders, able to develop strong internal and external relationships, has strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative way of working and experience in developing new business.

You will join a small but ambitious and high performing team that contributes significantly to World Child Cancer’s annual income of c. £2m.

Reporting to: Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships

Location: UK-based hybrid role: Home working for the time being, with the provision for regular meetings in the office. Office attendance encouraged on Mondays (nr Fenchurch Street, London)

The Job

The Finance Officer will work closely with the Business & Operations Manager (BOM). GISF is funded by various donors on different projects with overlapping resources. The Finance Officer will ensure expenditure is allocated to relevant projects and donor funds and will assist in the preparation of GISF’s annual budget, proposal budgets, and implementing budgeting and grant forecasting systems with GISF’s leadership team and project managers. The role will is offered on a part time basis with the possibility of increasing number of hours worked if required.

Finance

• Invoicing – reviewing and paying invoices, invoicing members – ensuring compliance, authorisation requirements, flagging and investigating discrepancies and responding to related queries
• Provide financial support to the procurement process, from raising requests to assessing tenders for value-for-money and compliance.
• Validate travel expenses in advance of staff travel, and process expenses on return.
• Maintain the filing system for financial documentation
• Ensure payment documents’ compliance with GISF internal financial procedures and donor regulations.
• Produce relevant financial reports on a regular basis.
• Fulfil daily accounting tasks and assist in coordinating financial functions and services.

Grants

• Provide clear and relevant financial guidance for the management of ongoing projects
• Ensure that all projects implemented by GISF comply with donor financial rules and regulations as well as GISF procedures.
• Prepare and update monthly reports on grant expenditures compared to Budget (BvA), including staffing and operational cost projections
• Work with programme managers to ensure programme projections are updated, and organise monthly meetings to review BvA and projections, to ensure programme implementation is aligned with expected budget consumption.
• Provide financial inputs to formal grant reporting.
• Prepare budgets to support GISF proposals for new funding.

Corporate

• Assist in the preparation of GISF’s annual budget, including briefing the Treasurer and Board as required.
• Develop quarterly budget reports and forecasts for submission to the Board of Directors.
• Contribute to the update and development of GISF’s financial policies and procedures with the Business and Operations Manager
• Coordination with the Finance departments of GISF’s partner organisations.
• Support with all audit and compliance processes

• Relevant qualification in accounting – AAT or equivalent

Who are we?

Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. 

We are working hard to raise awareness, as it is a little-unknown condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the illness. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.

We are looking to recruit a bilingual, French and English speaking, Grants Officer to join our dynamic team of dedicated sexual and reproductive health and rights specialists. The Grants Officer provides support to the Grants Support Team and Grants Operations Manager across a portfolio of grants, ensuring grants move efficiently and in a timely manner through the grant management cycle. The Grants Officer will be trained to become an advanced user of our online Grants Management System Fluxx and will guide and support users who are less conversant with the system. The Grants Officers also support operational management of the fund with the development and maintenance of efficient operating and reporting procedures. 

AmplifyChange is a bi-lingual fund. Due to the current team composition, fluency in French is required, as the postholder will support our Francophone grantees, who are based across West-Africa and occasionally the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The role is a Bath-based position and will work closely with team members in the UK and overseas, including our Grants Support Team, our Finance Team and our Fiduciary Risk Team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Using our online Grants Management System Fluxx, oversee a portfolio of grants through a grant implementation process from grant set up through to grant closure, ensuring compliance with internal procedures
• Act as the operational focal person for grantees and provide support throughout the grant cycle on contractual, operational and reporting matters, drawing on and coordinating expertise from the Grants Managers and Fiduciary Risk Team (FRT)
• Provide support in the preparation and implementation of new grant calls, and support the selection and Due Diligence process when necessary, responding to all applicants whether successful or unsuccessful
• Regularly monitor the completion of pre-contracting conditions by grantees, and obtain appropriate sign-off internally
• Coordinate, draft and issue Grant Agreements and Addendums using our online system
• Provide regular and up-to-date information to operational management by tracking and monitoring grants, and sharing best practice and lessons learned across the portfolio of grants with other staff members and stakeholder
• Track grantee reporting deadlines, supporting timely report submission by grantees
• Monitor grantee disbursements in collaboration with the Fiduciary Risk and Finance teams

This is a UK based, full time (37.5 hours/week) permanent position, reporting to the Grants Operations Manager. AmplifyChange is based in Bath, and we operate on a hybrid working model. About Us

The Seafarers’ Charity has been improving the lives of those who work at sea, and their families, for over 100 years. You will be a highly organised, practical and friendly person to manage our office operations, the role is diverse and will suite an all-rounder who is proficient in multi-tasking and problem solving.

You will run a welcoming office for staff and guests and be encouraged to identify and work on new operational projects that will enhance the organisation. Home-Start Southwark works with families who are pregnant or have children under 5. Our core work is to provide weekly support from a trained peer volunteer or worker empowering families to make changes to improve their lives. The way we support families continues to have relationships at its core – we believe, and our work proves, that the confidence and resilience gained by having someone standing alongside you offering encouragement and support, can make a huge difference to parents and children. Main Purpose:

• Work closely with the Chief Executive to develop and evolve Home-Start’s services in response to changing needs, informing the strategy for our family support and development of services.
• Provide vision, direction, and leadership to motivate staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality services that make a measurable positive difference to children and their families.
• Manage the HSS Family Support Team, coordinating and quality assuring their work.
• Collaborate with multi-agency partners to deliver evidence-based interventions that support parenting and prevent need escalating, including structured programmes and group work.
• Be a Designated Safeguarding Lead for the charity.

· Demonstrable experience in governance and compliance

· Experience of building a culture that promotes continuous learning, inclusion, collaboration, and accountability

· Demonstrable experience as a values-led, resilient and people-centred leader

· Strong financial acumen

· Excellent communication and influencing skills

· Understanding of challenges affecting the voluntary sector

The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the overall financial leadership of Nottingham Playhouse’s business functions.
