Programme Manager (Executive)

The role
This is a key role within the organisation, internally support the Senior Program Directors, as well as externally working directly with government partners to provide implementation guidance, in order to ensure the successful delivery of transformational, cross-sectoral initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In this role, you will review and develop program-related materials that drive strategic priorities; monitor program achievement progress; manage local consultants and technical assistance providers; provide financial oversight of grants; identify and highlight compelling stories about leaders with whom they work; document and help disseminate best practices across their programs; and track and document results across programs. 

This role is focused on working directly with inspiring government leaders to implement their human capital development goals for their people, and you will be expected to interface in a respectful, savvy, and non-prescriptive manner with government colleagues, while simultaneously providing the honest feedback of a true partner.

In this role you can expect a dynamic environment and a culture of collaboration, innovation, and drive for highly leveraged outcomes. 

Experience
To be successful you will need extensive experience in managing complex and large-scale program implementation, ideally in Sub-Saharan African countries. 

You will have a good understanding of how governmental departments work (ideally with direct experience working within government) and have had significant interactions at high policy levels within governments, with proven experience in managing complex and politically sensitive relationships with different stakeholders. 

Able to demonstrate methodical program oversight and management, you will need an exemplary work ethic with a drive for achieving concrete results from often complex environments.  You will be experienced in the use of program management tools such as dashboard creation, program monitoring and strategic planning and be able to example good financial acumen and excellent research and analytical skills, with ability to synthesise comparative research clearly. 

Knowledge wise we are looking for substantial, relevant expertise in one/some of the following: health, nutrition, job creation, urban development or education, ideally in Sub-Saharan Africa. This will include familiarity with evidence, key actors, and proven interventions in a broad range of human development areas. 

This role will suit someone who is used to working at the most senior levels and brings excellent people skills and highly developed communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. A fantastic and fast-growing charity focused on providing support and advice for carers of children is seeking a Payroll Manager on a part-time (3 days per week) permanent basis.

With headquarters in London, the role is offered on a hybrid basis – with 1 day per week required onsite. The charity has a turnover of around £7 million, with approximately 80 staff. Their focus is specifically to provide support for kinship carers of children – grandparents, siblings and other family members who support children when parents are unable to provide care.

The Payroll Manager role will make up part of a new finance team structure. The role reports to the Head of Finance, and other team members include a Senior Finance Officer and Finance Director. The role is paying £42,000 (FTE / pr-rata) inclusive of London weighting. Please note a fully-remote option is available, however in this instance London weighting would not apply, so the FTE/prorate salary would be £38,774 per annum.

The role will cover responsibility for all payroll operations, ensuring that all payments are accurate and on time and that appropriate and accurate information is provided to the Head of Finance, HMRC, pension providers and other external bodies. The payroll is run by an external bureau. You will also be required to support the Head of Finance with across a wide range of financial accounting duties.

The charity has recently implemented a new finance system (Business Central) and has secured some new grants and contracts, so there may be the chance to grow and progress as the charity continues on this path.

Typical duties will include:

-Ensure the timely processing of monthly payroll, including absence and statutory leave as well as various categories of staff payments and deductions; maintaining a separation of duties with relevant HR colleagues

-Check all payroll and pension deductions each month and resolve queries with the payroll bureau as necessary; ensuring that an appropriate and up to date audit trail is maintained which include FINAL reports.

-Ensure timely payments are issued to HMRC, pension providers and in respect of other payroll deductions to enable Kinship to comply with its statutory obligations

-To be proactive in the identification and resolution of any pay anomalies, errors, issues; ensuring that payroll reports are reconciled monthly and agree with control account values

-To contribute to knowledge management and building expertise within the Finance/People teams with regard to payroll; identify process improvements to eliminate exceptions, errors and omissions of data.

About the opportunity
Corporate partnerships are critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future. The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year) of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships. Part of our growth strategy is looking at building stronger relationships with corporate partners, having established a strong multi-year relationship for the first time this year worth £500k annually. We have a great ability to measure and quantify its impact, which we are looking to better communicate and leverage with current and potential corporate partners.

We’re looking for a Corporate Partnerships Manager to lead on our corporate partnership activities and initiatives, including growing income from corporate partners as well as increasing the number of corporate volunteer tutor applications we receive from them. Working within our Philanthropy Team, the Corporate Partnerships Manager will be responsible for the line-management and development of two Corporate Partnership Coordinators, ensuring that, as a team, you meet your corporate income and volunteer application targets. Duties and responsibilities

About the Role

The role requires a well-structured and highly organised approach, to ensure delivery and reporting is of the highest quality and a creative and proactive approach, to navigate challenges and hold others to account, when needed. The Grants Programme Assistant will support both the Executive Director and the Assistant Manager across the remit of the SCLF’s work to help it deliver its objectives. This is a unique and interesting opportunity to join the organisation at a key point in its ten-year trajectory as it works to support schools to continue their language provision post 2026 and help shape what that future might look like. 

The postholder will play a key role when it comes to supporting the Executive Director and Assistant Manager in their day-to-day roles and get very involved in the operations of the Foundation. The work will cover wide remit of areas including: financial administration, supporting with termly funding reports-and-request process for schools, preparing internal expense requests and maintaining the expenses log. You will support with the annual Grant Agreement extension process, general programme administration, the annual data requests and the organisation of annual assessment visits to Centres. The postholder will maintain relationships with the Foundation’s network of schools and other institutions. You will support with board administration, scheduling meeting dates, manage logistics and support with the preparation of papers. You will also support with event administration for two annual conferences and also sit in on many of the meetings which the Foundation holds with various stakeholders and take meeting notes where possible.

You will have strong verbal and written communication skills and experience working with and maintaining good relations with a variety of different stakeholders. You will have a thorough approach to tasks and attention to detail. You will have a curiosity about and interest in the work of the Foundation. You will be flexible and have an adaptable approach to tasks. You will be comfortable working within a small team and also be able to work on your own initiative. You will have sound computer skills (Microsoft Office 365). You will also have strong numeracy skills.

Role
Rowan Alba works to end homelessness in Edinburgh by providing permanent supported homes and building relationships with individuals in crisis. We also work in our communities with volunteers who provide vital support to the most vulnerable in an attempt to prevent homelessness. Our experience lends itself to exemplar training programmes aimed at helping employers understand conditions around addictions.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident communicator for the new role of Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager to increase awareness of our work and develop new funding streams from individual, community and corporate partnerships.

You will be a creative, organised and motivated individual with a positive track record in working independently to develop corporate and community funder relationships.

Working alongside our Communications Manager, Trusts and Grants Fundraising Manager and Leadership Team you will develop an engagement strategy to help increase awareness of our work and raise vital funds to support our organisational development including the creation of new permanent homes for individuals with long-term experience of homelessness.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing corporate partners
• Developing opportunities to deliver training to corporate staff and organising volunteering activities
• Working with staff and volunteers to develop and implement community fundraising opportunities including sponsorship activities and local events
• Organising events for key stakeholders to increase Rowan Alba profile
• Managing relevant KPIs and appropriate CRM system for all individual and corporate funder communication and outcomes
• Ensuring the organisation adheres to the codes of fundraising practice set by the Fundraising Regulator

Core competencies

• Experience in relationship building and delivering long term funding support from a variety of sources
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills
• Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently, and with a small core team
• Experience of event organisation and management including working with volunteers

Research Initiatives Manager

The Research Initiatives Manager is a crucial role at the College, as you will work closely with senior clinicians to lead a series of projects and activities to feed into the development and delivery of child-health research initiatives. The initiatives include research awards, research events and research capacity and capability building, by embedding academic skills into the paediatric workforce and enabling academic research.

As Research Initiatives Manager, you will also lead on the RCPCH Genomics Programme which aims to develop and deliver a series of resources and activities related to the integration of genomics services into mainstream paediatrics. 

Based within the Research and Evidence team, you will be the operational lead for relevant Committees and working groups, acting as a representative of the College to represent the views of paediatricians, whilst ensuring timely reporting of progress to Project Boards.

You will also build and develop relationships with external stakeholders and work with the Head of Grants and Partnerships to identify sources of funding to support future work within the Research and Evidence remit.

With a degree or equivalent experience with a research, health science, life sciences or genetics/genomics component, you should have a proven understanding of the national funding landscape and infrastructure for clinical research.

You should have experience of collaborative ways of working across multidisciplinary teams and programmes of work, along with demonstrable experience of producing high quality written reports, documentation and promotional information suitable for a range of audiences.

With excellent organisational skills and an ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work, paying careful attention to detail and the ability to follow standard procedures and ways of working, you should also have demonstrable programme management skills, and be capable of working autonomously and taking personal responsibility for your projects.

Knowledge of research methodology, including data analysis, along with a project management qualification and an understanding of genomic medicine would be desirable. An understanding of the education and training pathways of paediatric healthcare professionals as well as experience of events management, would also be desirable.
