Junior Trusts & Foundations Officer

Location: London (Hybrid, 1 day per week in office)

A well-established charity is seeking a Junior Trusts & Foundations Officer to join its Development team. About the role
Reporting to the Trusts & Foundations Manager, you will provide comprehensive support in trusts and foundations fundraising. You will manage a portfolio of four-figure donors, maintain the fundraising database, and help build a pipeline of new trusts and foundations aligned with the charity’s priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Build and nurture relationships with funders, managing your own portfolio.
• Research new funding opportunities and prepare information for proposals and impact reports.
• Maintain and administer the Trusts and Foundations database.
• Collate case studies and photos from global teams for reporting purposes.
• Support the drafting of proposals to secure unrestricted and restricted funding.
• Ensure accurate recording of all new income and share paperwork with relevant departments.
• Send thank you letters, impact reports, and other funder communications.
• Ensure all fundraising activities comply with GDPR.
• Provide pipeline reports and updates as required.

As Finance Director, you will work closely and collaboratively with Amit Sharma (Artistic Director/ CEO) and Iain Goosey (Executive Director), supporting them as they lead Kiln Theatre through a period of transition and growth. As a key member of the Senior Team, the Finance Director will be responsible for Kiln Theatre's financial health and for ensuring that effective controls are in place and that all regulatory requirements are met.

The Work Rights Centre, in partnership with the LEF Fellowship Programme, is looking for a Trainee Solicitor to join our ambitious and driven team. We are a charity set up by migrants and for migrants, and every day our multilingual team of legal advisers stand up for their employment rights and secure their immigration status. 

This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with a strong sense of justice, who is looking to build a career in a legal profession. This role will suit someone who values impact, and the opportunity to make a real  difference in the lives of vulnerable migrant workers and disadvantaged Britons.

You will be able to learn from three experienced solicitors, exercise your skills as an adviser, and progress your career in a friendly and supportive environment. The LEF Fellowship Programme will cover the cost of your mandatory legal training and exams. By the end of two years you will have had the chance to complete your SQE training and gain the required practical experience to fully qualify as a solicitor.

The role

As the Trainee Solicitor,  you’ll work on a stimulating range of issues across two wide areas of law -  Immigration (in Year 1) and Employment (in Year 2). You will learn how best to support vulnerable clients with limited English language and digital skills, how to spot signs of modern slavery or manage safeguarding concerns.

Working with our immigration team, you will help clients understand and secure their immigration status in the UK. You will support clients who have limited leave to remain (e.g. on employer-sponsored visas, Ukraine Visa Schemes, or pre-settled EUSS status) or who are entirely undocumented. Working with our employment team, you will work on cases involving non-payment of wages, non-provision of work, unlawful deductions, race and gender discrimination, or unfair dismissals. Crucially, you will have the opportunity to understand the real-life intersection of the two areas of law, as they are often experienced by the same clients. 

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain well-rounded experience across all stages of the legal process, including interviewing clients, collecting information and assessing evidence, taking down witness statements, providing over the phone and written advice, and collating evidence bundles. 

Alongside your legal work and SQE2 study, you will complete an independent social justice project aligned with your personal interests and objectives of the charity. This might entail legal research, sourcing strategic cases, or compiling data on the impact of the current policies. Working on this project will give you an opportunity to conduct strategic legal work contributing to systemic change.

About the role

As Director, you will oversee daily operations, including forecasting and budgeting for the entire organisation (currently c£300K per annum). As such, you will lead on developing a sustainable funding stream for our mission-driven work, ensuring we maintain a 6-month runway at all times. You will build and maintain strong external relationships to help grow and develop the organisation. The Director will provide leadership to a small, remote team (4 x PAYE) and create a happy, sustainable and productive work environment. Most importantly, the Director will ensure objectives are being met - both personal and organisational - to deliver impactful, positive change for our waterways in the UK, and abroad.

Key Responsibilities

Funding Development + Stakeholder Relationships (40%): 

• Significant responsibility for successful contractual negotiations and maintaining a healthy new funding pipeline. Secure six-to-seven figure funding opportunities to provide a sustainable revenue stream for 3+ years. 
• Strategic understanding and experience of competitive and fast changing charitable financial landscape. 
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with funders and other voluntary sector organisations.

Regional Net Zero Carbon Fundraising Officer

Salary £35,000 - £38,000 FTE

Are you an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of stakeholder engagement and experience of coordinating and developing large-scale funding proposals? Do you have a passion for the environment and reducing carbon emissions? If so, read on.

The Church of England’s Net Zero Carbon (NZC) programme has been established to help the Church deliver its commitment to reaching its NZC goals. It aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport.

All parts of the Church will need to raise funds to implement this Net Zero plan. To this end, the Dioceses of Chelmsford, Ely, Norwich, St Albans and St Edmundsbury and Ipswich are collaborating on the shared ambition to achieve NZC across our diocesan estates and are looking to appoint a Fundraising Officer to work across the region to identify funding opportunities and secure funding towards delivering net carbon zero projects.

This is a new role and, as such, offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to make their mark. You will develop and maintain relationships with a range of potential funders and internal and external stakeholders across the region. You’ll need drive, initiative, resilience and the ability to shape an approach to NZC fundraising across the region. Above all, you’ll need to be an excellent communicator and relationship builder with a proven ability to adapt your approach as appropriate, be this creating links with the national NZC Team, influencing and securing funding from grant-making bodies, or delivering training and advice on securing funding locally. Given the scope and nature of the role you’ll also need to be highly organised, flexible and sympathetic to the ethos of the Church of England.

We recognise that this is a specialised role, and training and support will be available for the post-holder both locally and from the national Church of England NZ Fundraising team.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are also required. The role will be home-based and can be anywhere within the region, with regular travel across the region required. The role will be employed by the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich so line management meetings will be in Ipswich.

Communications and Marketing Coordinator

We are seeking a creative and proactive Communications and Marketing Coordinator to play a pivotal role in telling Theatres Trust’s story, and the stories of the theatres we support, to a wider audience.

Working with the Head of Communications and Marketing, you will support the development and delivery of Theatres Trust’s communications strategy and contribute to embedding our brand and tone of voice across all our communications. A central part of the role will be working with our sector specialists to turn complex, detailed and technical information into compelling case studies to promote our services and highlight our impact to key stakeholders across the theatre sector and beyond.

You will be responsible for producing two of Theatres Trust’s key communications products: Theatres Magazine, our digital publication for supporters, and NewsDigest, our monthly e-newsletter, as well as helping to develop our social and digital channels. There will also be the opportunity for you to take the lead on the full communications lifecycle of specific projects such as grant programmes and events.

For someone with a passion for the power of words and a strong eye for design, this is an interesting and varied role, offering the scope to develop and enhance your skills across the full range of communications and marketing disciplines. You may have worked in a communications or marketing position already, or you may have transferrable skills from another role, studies or voluntary experience. Theatres Trust is a small team with big ambitions and is undergoing a period of transformation, so the willingness to take on a wide range of duties and adapt to evolving priorities is a must.
