Purpose of the job

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed individual to fulfil the combined role of project manager for the Roding Rises project, and catchment partnership co-host for the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne catchment partnership. The Roding Rises is an ambitious 3-year project funded through The National Lottery Heritage Fund that aims to deliver the following key outcomes: 

1. Raise the value placed on the river Roding by the local community through a river connection programme of engagement events that will work with urban and rural communities throughout the Roding catchment.

1. Raise protection of the river Roding through a citizen science action programme, giving communities and catchment partners the data and knowledge to advocate for the river, and through a masterplan for the lower Roding, which will influence and inform future development. 

1. Raise the quality of the habitat in and along the river through the delivery of a significant capital river restoration scheme and a catchment grants programme, so the river brings maximum benefits to both people and wildlife.  

1. Deliver a legacy for the river Roding by integrating the outputs of The Roding Rises with ambitions of the wider catchment partnership and using the project as a springboard for leveraging further catchment-scale restoration work.

The Roding Rises Project Manager will work alongside a multidisciplinary Thames21 team to ensure each element of the project is delivered on time, within budget, and with maximum impact. 

Within the role of co-host of the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne Catchment Partnership, this position will help develop and advance the namesake catchment’s action plan through building the partnership, facilitating knowledge exchange between various partners, and working across the partnership to develop and successfully fundraise for river & catchment improvement projects. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the delivery of ‘The Roding Rises’ project, ensuring each work programme delivers its required goals on time, within budget and with maximum impact.  

• Work with The Roding Rises admin and finance officer to ensure the smooth administration and reporting of the project. 

• Develop and oversee the administration of The Roding Rises grants scheme.

• Support the Roding Rises Engagement, Evidence and River Restoration leads with the administration and coordination of their direct areas of work.

•  Line manage and oversee the work of the Roding Rises Reporting and Finance Officer.

• Work with Catchment Partners and Thames21 support functions, to identify, scope and develop river and catchment improvement projects which are realistic and fundable, thereby enabling the implementation of the Catchment Partnership’s Objectives and Catchment Action Plans to meet national environmental objectives.

• Arrange, host and coordinate meetings for The Roding Rises and the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne Catchment Partnership to share knowledge, news and project progress between stakeholders, including the production of agendas, minutes and actions.

• With support from Catchment Partners and Thames21 support functions, lead on the development of match funding applications for The Roding Rises project, and wider funding applications to enable the delivery of river improvement projects across the catchment partnership.

• Work with Catchment Partners and Thames21 support functions, to share information between partners and stakeholders to ensure that all interested parties are up to date with the latest information and knowledge of techniques, opportunities and developments in areas relevant to the Partnerships. 

• Update Thames21 central record-keeping databases in line with GDPR requirements. 

• Represent Thames2, the Catchment Partnership and The Roding Rises project at events throughout the catchment.

Fundraising Management and Development

• Review the fundraising strategy to achieve the agreed annual fundraising targets;

• Identify/manage fundraising campaigns, creating impactful storytelling for supporter engagement;

Individual Giving

• Develop and manage the individual giving schemes and major donor fundraising in support of cultural programmes;
• Implement a legacy giving scheme, working across departments to create support material and identify communication channels;
• Collaborate with the Director and Board to build a major donor pipeline;
• Grow the donor base and average gift size through communications, events, and stewardship;
• Liaise with the Development Officer, Marketing and Box Office, Director and Programming team, and Learning & Engagement to effectively promote and manage individual giving and supporters;
• Maximise Gift Aid income and promote tax-effective giving.

Trusts & Foundations

• Develop and manage PTCH’s Trusts & Foundations pipeline for cultural programming and Learning & Engagement projects;
•  Research/identify a wide range of income sources to increase the number of funders and grant size;
• Oversee the database, maintaining accurate records to plan and prioritise funding applications;
• Work with the Director, Programming,Head of Learning & Engagement and others to devise high-quality applications and cases for support;
• Oversee the preparation of timely, accurate funder reports in collaboration with relevant teams;
• Nurture relationships with Trusts & Foundations contacts. 

Corporate Sponsorship

• Review the sponsorship offering and create a pitch pack for prospective partners;
• Proactively seek company partnerships and increase sponsor numbers and fees;
• Collaborate across departments to identify projects with sponsorship potential.

Person Specification

• Experience in the charity sector, ideally in an arts or cultural environment;
• Team player;
• Outstanding communicator and persuasive storyteller;
• Enthousiastic about new fundraising opportunities and sector trends.

Essential:

• Experience in developing and delivering a fundraising strategy for a similar-sized organisation;
• Proven track record of raising at least £250,000 annually through Trusts & Foundations and individual giving;
• Thorough understanding of the arts fundraising landscape;

About the Role

The Management Accountant will work closely with the Head of Finance to enhance financial services and provide supportive management accounting at Solace. You will work alongside the Assistant Management Accountants to produce accurate and timely internal and external financial reports. 

The Management Accountant will have line management responsibilities for the two Assistant Management Accountants.

In this role, you will prepare monthly income and expenditure reports for more complex allocated projects and the organisation as a whole, the monthly cashflow, funder reports and lead on the preparation of the budget and half yearly forecasting. You will ensure that management accounts are produced within established deadlines with commentary of financial reporting variances. You you will meet regularly with budget holders and be able to explain the accounts to non-finance colleagues. Provide project terms and financial information to the Director of Finance and Business Support and Head of Finance.

As part of your support to our business development plans you will provide fast responses to requests for support for pricing of new bids, grant applications, tenders and provision of other relevant financial information.

As part of the annual statutory reporting you will assist and support in the preparation of the year-end close and audit.

At all times you will support the Head of Finance to develop a business partnering approach between Finance and the widder organisation.

About You

The successful candidate will be a nearly or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CCAB) or qualified by experience and desirably with knowledge of charity SORP reporting requirements, with charity experience on multi projects accounting.

Able to produce accurate reporting on timely manner and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong team player as well as working independently. Can work with non-finance budget holders with clear communication skills. Have strong knowledge of Excel and of working with finance systems.

IIED is seeking a dynamic and experienced Philanthropy Manager to work closely with IIED’s Head of Business Development and Directors to meet unrestricted income targets. About You

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Head of Research Funding to lead our research funding activities and play a key role in implementing our new research strategy. Based in Northampton, this role offers the opportunity to oversee the development of new funding opportunities and ensure our work continues to drive meaningful progress for people affected by MND.

As Head of Research Funding, you’ll ensure our research investment delivers impact where it’s needed most. Working closely with colleagues across the Research and Innovation Directorate, you’ll manage a dedicated team, develop effective funding schemes, and strengthen connections with researchers, review panels, and grant holders.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the Association’s research funding activities, delivering to agreed budgets and timelines.
• Ensure research priorities are focused on the needs of people affected by MND.
• Develop and implement new funding schemes that accelerate progress and support our strategic aims.
• Lead improvements to grant management systems, processes, and documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues to involve people affected by MND in funding decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the research community, including members of our review panels, peer reviewers and grant holders
• Oversee all reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees related to research funding

About You

• Degree in a relevant subject.
• At least five years’ experience in research management, ideally within a charity or government funding organisation.
• Experience in management of complex operational functions related to the management of research funding

• Strong background in developing and implementing grant management systems and processes.

Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF) provide advice and financial assistance in the form of grants at times of crisis and hardship.  Our work is funded through a combination of donations, legacies and returns on our investments.

The Head of Finance & IT will manage the relationships with the three investment managers and the outsourced IT providers.  It is a varied role, combining the strategic with the hands-on.  It will suit a versatile individual who is happy to transition between multiple tasks.  No two days will be the same.  One moment you might be writing or reviewing Board papers, the next you might be managing an IT support call and then later on you might be rolling up your sleeves to post the final journal entries to complete the management accounts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Finance

• Accurate, timely and user-friendly management accounts, cash flow projections and other relevant financial information, with associated recommendations where appropriate
• An annual budget and accompanying management commentary
• Draft statutory accounts which meet the latest SORP requirements, producing the audit file and being the lead contact for the Fund’s auditors during the annual external audit
• Full compliance with UK charity and company financial regulations; and appropriate financial controls in place and complied with
• The development and keeping up to date of a Finance department handbook, covering finance policies, practices and procedures
• Successful leadership and development of the finance team
• The development of, and assistance with the implementation of, financial strategies to enable the Fund to achieve its long-term goals
• Support The Finance Committee’s investment management and monitor the Investment managers’ performance
• Managing the payroll function (outsourced)
• Managing the relationship with the pension scheme provider and staff salary sacrifice arrangements.

Information Technology

• Responsible for the development and implementation of the RMBF’s Information Technology strategy
• Management and development of an accurate, up to date, user-friendly database to provide relevant information to support all areas of the RMBF’s work including casework, fundraising and communications
• Cost effective development and use of IT within the Fund, to enable staff to make good use of IT for communication, record keeping and management information
• Managing the relationship with the Fund’s outsourced IT support companies.

Person Specification

• Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience
• Good understanding of charity SORP
• Experienced in preparing charity statutory accounts
• Experienced in charity investment management; good understanding of charity investment and restricted funds
• Good understanding of stakeholder pension and latest regulatory requirement
• IT literate including database management and development and an advanced user of the Microsoft Office package
• Good communication skills to be able to deliver a presentation to the stakeholders and manage business relationships with investment managers, IT providers, bankers and auditors as well as internally with department managers

We seek a Finance Officer to join our small team. You will report to the Head of Finance to provide bookkeeping and accounting support for Global Dialogue and Global Dialogue Ventures Limited. You will use Xero and be responsible for many aspects of operational finance including maintaining accurate records in the organisation’s purchase and sales ledgers; processing accounts payable and receivable; bank and other reconciliations; supporting month, quarter and year-end closes; and resolving ad hoc queries. 

This role is part-time. We are open to negotiating a working pattern that works for the successful candidate and for Global Dialogue. 

Terms Permanent, 21-28 hours per week, subject to 12-week probationary period

Location Home-based. Must have right to work in UK.

Reporting Reports to the Head of Finance 

Remuneration This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of £33,000 (pro rata for a part time position). Job Description

Maintaining purchase ledger: 

• Review staff and consultant expense claims 

• Reconcile monthly credit card and Soldo statements

• Help prepare for bi-monthly pay runs by reviewing bill postings, ensuring they have received appropriate approvals 

• Setting up payments in bank accounts

• Manage the posting and reconciliation of Employee of Record invoices

 Maintaining sales ledger: 

• Post grant income to Salesforce and Xero, following up any missing paperwork and queries

 Bank:

• A recognised accountancy qualification and/or qualified by experience in accounting
