Read for Good’s Grants and Trusts Manager leads on securing high-value income for the national charity from trusts and foundations, typically securing one-off and multi-year grants in the five- to six-figure range. You will research and cultivate prospective funders, produce compelling, tailored proposals, programme reports and manage a strong pipeline of funding opportunities. You will also develop and steward long-term funding relationships that align with our mission and strategy, building on our well established and robust pipeline. In addition to your own portfolio, you will support the wider grants and fundraising team, helping to deliver on team targets, strengthen internal processes, and ensure high-quality reporting and compliance.

This is a key role in the charity’s income generation strategy and will work closely with senior colleagues to shape fundable programmes and plan for long-term sustainability.

Salary: Circa £35k to £41k (depending on experience)

Key responsibilities

Income Generation and Fundraising

• Research and develop a strong pipeline of new and existing high-value trusts and grant-making prospects (typically five- and six-figure applications).
• Write compelling, tailored funding proposals that align with funder interests and organisational priorities.
• Manage and track income performance, reporting on progress against individual and team targets.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with funders and secure repeat and multi-year funding in the region of £400K p.a.

Team Management and Development

• Provide support and guidance to the wider Grants team, including freelance support as well as support cross organisational cooperation and team work
• Help co-ordinate workloads and funding pipeline, and ensure high standards across all funding applications and reports.
• Help foster a collaborative team culture and support colleagues’ professional development

Responsibilities

• In close collaboration with the Senior Project Manager, to manage the delivery of grants, ensuring that they are in line with TCFF’s objectives, values and criteria.

• To develop and maintain a strong network of community partners, government agencies, and other relevant organisation to enhance synergies, increase TCFF visibility and credibility.
• To lead on planning and implementing visits to grant partners with the TCFF Communications’ team to capture TCFF’s work.
• To keep informed about developments in TCFF’s fields of work and collaborate with the Senior Project Manager on the strategic direction.
• To keep informed about government and other stakeholders’ best practices, research and legislation related to our fields of work.

Qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

• Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in charity programme management.
• Solid experience in overseeing grant budgets and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and culturally responsive approaches to serving diverse populations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with beneficiaries, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
• Proven ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Team player with a flexible and collaborative attitude.
• To have or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate.
• Commitment to the mission and values of The Caring Family Foundation, including a dedication to social justice and equity.

Desirable

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field to TCFF’s work.

Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is the national charity caring for historic churches at risk. As the operator of the third largest heritage estate in charitable ownership in the UK, our 356 historic churches include examples of irreplaceable architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of English history.

Overall job purpose

In recent years, CCT has experienced great success in applying to grant funders, including Trust and Foundations, Landfill Communities Fund, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. 

CCT’s 2025 -30 strategy focuses on delivering conservation projects across our estate and securing income from grant funders will be crucial.  We will also work with local communities to address smaller conservation projects via the Community Initiative Framework.

The Grants Officer will research and identify relevant funding opportunities, build a healthy pipeline, and submit applications for project funding to meet fundraising targets during an exciting period of growth.

There will be requirement for occasional travel for project visits and team meetings.

Trusts and Grants Fundraising - Tasks and Responsibilities 

• Research and identify new trust and foundation prospects.
• Draft and submit high-quality funding applications and reports.

Supporter Care

• Ensure timely and appropriate donor thanking.
• Respond to supporter queries via email and phone when needed.
• Assist with donor communications and stewardship planning.
• Working with the Comms and Operations Teams to assist with fundraising marketing, website and social media content.
• Working to consolidate and grow our group of recurring donors.
• Support with processing payments and donations online, in-person and over the phone, depositing cheques and cash donations.
• Help manage the stewardship calendar for major donors throughout the year.

Events Support

• Help coordinate logistics and communications for fundraising events.
• Track income and pledges from events like the Annual Lunch.
• Support with ticketing, invoicing, and donor follow-up.

A Rocha UK is a unique Christian nature conservation charity, mobilising Christians and churches to care for the natural world. We are the UK member of the international A Rocha federation of Christian conservation charities, with sister organisations in 24 countries.  A Rocha UK has a staff of 25 and many volunteers. Purpose of role: 

Increasing and diversifying the sources of funding for A Rocha UK’s work is key to our fundraising strategy. The Grants and Legacies Manager will play a key role identifying potential granting bodies, writing and submitting bids, and managing reporting on grants from a range of sources, including  large foundations, and Church denominations.  In doing so, they will work closely with other staff, especially the CEO, programme staff, and other members of the fundraising team. They will also manage occasional legacies and, as capacity allows, develop a proactive legacy promotion programme. An outstanding administrator with proven IT skills including MS Office, video conferencing and databases, this person will also have a keen eye for detail, the ability to multi-task and to plan ahead and to prioritise effectively. Whilst being able to process quite complex information easily, this person will be able to communicate simply and positively and will have a “can do” approach to their work.
