About the Degrees Initiative  

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions.  

Degrees’ programmatic work is centred on capacity-building through research grants and North–South and South-South collaboration schemes, outreach activities, and cross-cutting community-building. As part of this, Degrees runs workshops in the Global South that bring new voices into the SRM conversation, and our research funds support scientists and other experts in developing countries as they research what SRM could mean for their regions and become part of a global research community.

The BDA is seeking a new Research Manager to work as part of the Education and Professional Practice Team, leading on the research and impact activities of professional dietetic practice. The role will also provide line management within the team.

The role will support the BDA’s Strategic Plan 2024-34 and lead the growth and delivery of the annual Research Symposium. The role will suit a candidate with a sound understanding and experience of the breadth of dietetic practice and research, and the factors that influence it. Working innovatively the post holder will develop and progress research within dietetic practice, building confidence in the dietetic workforce to be research active.

We are looking for somebody who is an expert in research methodologies, and appraisal and is comfortable setting and influencing research strategy.  Ideally we would like somebody who has or is studying for their doctorate in dietetics and experience working in a practice setting would be advantageous. This is a senior internal and external facing role working alongside the Director of Education Practice and Research, and the Education and Practice Managers. The candidate will enjoy supporting colleagues and members to engage and deliver research related projects, and demonstrate impact through evidence-based practice.

About The Azaylia Foundation

The Azaylia Foundation was founded by Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee after the passing of their eight-month old daughter, Azaylia. Childhood cancer is the number one killer of children in the UK, yet it receives less than 3% of cancer research funding. Backed by a large community of supporters, The Azaylia Foundation is committed to reversing this systemic underfunding through advocacy, PhD research grants, and family support for treatments not freely available via the NHS. Our flagship programme, The Azaylia PhD Scholarship Program, aims to fund 20 new childhood cancer PhDs and their research over a period of 5 years.

Thanks to funding from the DCMS Uniformed Youth Fund, Girlguiding is launching the Reach Project to increase our impact in underrepresented communities and lower income areas. We want to create 1,400 spaces for girls to join, and test new ways for girls to engage with our offer. 
 
Girlguiding has been successful in winning a one-year government-funded grant to grow our provision for 10-18 year olds in ‘harder-to-reach’ communities. These include lower IMD areas, minority ethnic communities, young people with SEND, looked after children and young carers – among others.
 
This role will be pivotal in managing the relationships with the external partner and internal stakeholders. Making sure we are achieving the best for the girls and our volunteers, and really championing collaborative working.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO/Director will be responsible for the overall strategic, financial, and operational leadership of Chelsea Theatre. This is a hands-on role with a focus on balancing the day-to-day running of the operational activities of the venue, with essential components such as stakeholder management, community engagement and income generation. 

Key Responsibilities

The postholder will: 

• Provide leadership and responsibility for the charity’s purpose, administration and financial management plus ensure compliance with the law and regulations. 

• Generate significant earned income from one-off and repeat hirers, including local community organisations, commercial contracts, arts organisations and private hires, with a focus on high quality customer care.

• Increase income from grants, corporates and funds from individuals, with support from Trustees.

• Run the building as a community centre, making an ever-increasing positive impact in the local community and beyond. 

• Motivate and engage a small team of staff and volunteers, and broad range of stakeholders and prospective supporters.

• Where necessary, with the team, be capable of delivering a range of operational tasks, such as updating the website and managing the box office systems.

• Act as ambassador for the charity, building relationships with partners and stakeholders in the community, local government and with businesses. 

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

• Work with the Board to develop and implement a clear vision and business strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Chelsea Theatre.

• Identify and maximise commercial opportunities, including venue hire, sponsorship, and partnerships. Support the Board with fundraising.

• Lead on business development and marketing initiatives to increase revenue while maintaining the venue’s community-focused ethos.

• Ensure the organisation’s mixed team of staff and volunteers are focused on supporting the business’s mission and objectives.

Venue & Operational Management

• Oversee all aspects of venue operations, ensuring the highest standards of efficiency, customer experience, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Develop and manage budgets effectively, ensuring quality financial reporting, financial stability, and responsible stewardship of resources.

• Ability to optimise rental income and diversify income streams, while serving community needs. 

• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, local authorities, businesses, and community groups.

• Operate within the annual budget. Monitor key indicators of the organisation’s impact and financial health. 

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

• Develop and nurture partnerships with the local community, ensuring the theatre remains a welcoming and accessible space for all.

• Work closely with the Board of Trustees to align organisational commercial goals with community needs and expectations.

• Further develop a balanced and funded community programme, which currently include a flagship youth theatre scheme, to reflect community needs and interests. 

• Represent Chelsea Theatre externally, acting as an advocate for its work and impact.

Your responsibilities

1. Fundraising strategy (10% of time)

· Work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to set and deliver the fundraising strategy.

· Work across teams to identify opportunities to create projects and seek funding.

· Ensure all fundraising activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

· Report regularly to the Finance Committee and Board.

2. Trust and foundations fundraising (60% of time)

· Work with the Senior Leadership Team to identify projects and core costs for funding and develop realistic budgets.

· Work across teams to ensure continuation funding for existing projects and costs where needed.

· Manage grants from existing trusts and foundations, ensuring grant requirements are met, and reports are on time, accessible and demonstrate impact.

3. Database management (20% of time)

· Ensure the CRM supports funding monitoring purposes and staff can use it for this purpose.

· Continually champion and develop the CRM so that it is accessible to all staff and meets the requirements of all teams.

· Work with the Communications and Engagement team to put in place good stewardship of members, advice service users and other contacts via the CRM.

· Put in place supporter journeys that provide excellent stewardship.

4. Wider fundraising (10% of time)

· Explore, test and evaluate wider fundraising opportunities. This could include appeals, corporate fundraising, events, individual giving and legacy giving.

· Support the Training, Research and Consultancy team with bid and proposal writing on an ad hoc basis.

5. General (at all times)

· Undertake any other tasks, duties or projects which may arise from time to time which are in line with the general level of this post and as instructed.

· Undertake occasional evening and weekend work as required, and take responsibility for arranging time off in lieu with your manager.

Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, you will work with the team, trustees and external providers to ensure the delivery of impactful services and cultivation of strong partnerships in order to respond to the local needs of our families. 

The Centre Manager role will be expected to work from the centre the majority of the time as it is important to have a presence with the families and staff. On occasion, when it is required to meet key deadlines, working from home is supported but this is on an ad-hoc basis and not part of a regular working pattern.

• Lead, manage and co-ordinate the work of Waterside Parents’ Centre to ensure smooth running of the service.

We are seeking a compassionate and highly organised individual to work within the Welfare Benefits Team. You will be required to undertake welfare benefit checks and provide tailored advice on missing benefit entitlements and on wider income maximisation areas. You will also be required to provide advocacy and representation at appeal tribunals and with challenging more complex benefit decisions.

The successful candidate will need to have experience of providing welfare benefits advice with skills in advocacy, negotiation and communication. They will be an articulate communicator with excellent IT skills suited to working in a paperless environment. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to relate to people of all ages especially older beneficiaries, in a manner which is conducive to relieving stresses and concerns by giving sound and impartial information, guidance and assistance. 

The role will be office based at our London HQ, currently with hybrid working of 2 days in the office and 2 days working from home. The successful candidate for this role will need to be Standard DBS checked and prove they have the right to work in the UK.

• This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and aligned staff team at Greenwich Foodbank (GFB) working towards realising our vision of ending the need for food banks in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. 
• Through this new organisational role, you will proactively create and grow a sustainable fundraising income, through engaging and working alongside grant giving trusts and foundations as well as corporate organisations across London and the UK.
• Drawing on your proven track record and fundraising expertise, you will be growing income and building relationships with trusts and foundations as well as corporate partners to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPIs. You will have the capacity to create and craft compelling funding proposals that successfully engage and attract donors in line with GFB’s strategic goals and organisational values.

Key Responsibilities:

• Through comprehensive and considered research, you’ll outline a sustainable and achievable fundraising strategy that identifies and prioritises a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders for GFB. Your work will demonstrate your commitment to excellence. 
• You will manage the ongoing relationships with grant giving trusts and foundations funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and that GFB is able to maximise its existing potential funding streams.
• In this role, you will forge relationships with potential funders, develop and submit timely and winning funding applications and work alongside GFB’s impact and operations team to provide relevant and impactful feedback to funders. 
• You will proactively identify, engage and build good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. 
• You will deepen engagement and grow the relationships, partnerships and collaborative potential with existing corporate donors.
• Working with colleagues across GFB, you will develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage prospective partners through the alignment of our values, vision and strategic work with their needs, motivations and areas of interests. Alongside this you will engage potential funders in our Changing Minds work as we seek to change the conversation on food poverty in our area to a proactive and preventative rather than reactive approach. 
• You will work collaboratively with other local organisations and Trussell affiliated food banks across London and the South East, identifying and progressing opportunities for joint funding proposals and partnerships. 
• You will develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating an income that not only covers our annual charitable operating spend but also follows a fundraising framework that sustainably allows Greenwich Foodbank as an organisation to reach its strategic goals.
• You’ll establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPIs that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income. 
• You will forge strong relationships with stakeholders across the local community and the wider Trussell network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You will proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities. 

Skills

• You will have established experience and a proven successful track record of trusts and foundations fundraising 
• You will have good experience of corporate partnerships fundraising. 
• You will have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and relationship management skills. 
• You will be confident in public speaking and you’ll be able to inspire and motivate new and existing funders. 
• You will have experience of setting, managing and reporting against fundraising KPIs.
• You will be tenacious and able to embrace, develop and shape a new role.
• You’ll be well organised, proactive, and a self-starter who is able to self-motivate. 
• You will be able to demonstrate empathy for people from disadvantaged, marginalised or socially-excluded backgrounds.
