Kingston Charitable Foundation (Kingston CF) is growing - in 3 years we’ve doubled our staff team thanks to a grant from the City Bridge Foundation and to date we’ve awarded over 130 grants to local charities, and community groups, who share our vision to build stronger communities where everyone’s needs are met. We are a Place Based Giving scheme that is part of the London Funders movement.
We have also developed and delivered new participatory grant making programmes for the benefit of local individuals and families.
Now we’re looking for a confident, creative, and proactive Development Manager to join our small but dynamic Kingston CF family and develop and manage our fundraising development programme for both corporate and individual giving. This role is the perfect fit for someone with entrepreneurial flair looking to make a real difference - both by helping to raise money for the Foundation’s vital work, and by ensuring our supporters feel valued and supported.
You’ll have innovative ideas to help us to secure new partnerships and nurture new and existing relationships to mobilise local giving. As an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of securing major gifts or corporate partnerships at the four figure level, you’ll have a can-do attitude and a capability for developing strong networks and contacts.
You will be outcome orientated and a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills too.
Experience
- At least three years of proven successful experience in major gifts or corporate partnerships fundraising of four figures or more.
- Proven ability to manage and develop diverse relationships.
- Excellent written and oral English language communication skills.
- Experience in writing and delivering persuasive copy for supporters.
- Thorough understanding of data protection and, specifically, UK GDPR requirements pertaining to fundraising and sponsorship work.
- Full understanding of fundraising guidelines the code of fundraising practice.
- Experience of using Salesforce or a similar CRM.
Essential skills
- Have excellent IT skills, including Office 365 / Excel.
- Have good communication and presentation skills.

About Kingston Charitable Foundation
Kingston CF launched as an independent charity in January 2021, following eight successful years as local community fundraising project, Love Kingston. We are a small, dedicated team with over 30 years' third sector experience between us, and we work closely with our very supportive Board of Trustees.

Sightsavers is looking for a Head of Institutional Funding - a vital role within our expanding institutional funding team to lead the development and implementation of a portfolio of work currently focused on West Africa and lead on the development of strategic partnerships with individual institutional donors

We are looking for an experienced institutional funding expert to lead and manage a busy portfolio. This is a role in which the successful candidate will need to juggle multiple and complex projects. Key duties will include:
- Leading the development and implementation of a portfolio of work within the institutional funding team (IFT) currently focused on West Africa (17 Anglophone, Francophone and Lusophone countries), and lead on the development of strategic partnerships with individual institutional donors as prioritised.
- Providing direct line management and strategic support to a sub-team within IFT, that will support continued income growth and contract management, in line with the Institutional Funding strategy.
- Managing existing grant / contracts falling within the remit of this role and secure new income to the organisation.
- Supporting programme learning and capacity building of country office teams and partners and to deputise for the Director of Institutional Funding
This role is involved and multi-faceted with regular meetings across the organisation. This is a full-time role that may be worked from home for the majority of the time however some visits to our offices in Haywards Heath, West Sussex (RH16 3BW) will be required. On average this is likely to be twice per year. If you prefer to work from or are visiting our collaborative, modern office space, you will find it an easy 20-minute train journey from Brighton or 45 minutes from London. Programme travel to West Africa and other locations will also be necessary - we anticipate approximately three trips per year, usually of one week each.

Through this role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with corporate partners and large scale, multi-year grant giving Trusts and Foundations. You’ll develop funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.

Main responsibilities for the Fundraising & Membership Officer
Fundraising
- Support the setting of the charity’s fundraising targets through the research and review of both external and internal fundraising activities.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of the charity’s fundraising activities and campaigns.
- Collate the agreed metrics (including income and expenditure) and report on a weekly basis.
- Participate fully in the generation of fundraising ideas and activity selection.
- Design, prepare and implement the agreed activities and campaigns, which are likely to be varied in nature and might include dedicated fundraising events, grant applications to support families in disadvantaged socio-economic groups, and legacy generation.
- Recommend changes and updates to the activities and campaigns based on testing and evidenced data.
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of fundraising activities and campaigns, including both income and impact.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with both new and existing individuals and organisations, such as member alumni and grant-making trusts and foundations.
- Lead on stewarding the support of donors, funders, ambassadors and influencers through regular communications and feedback on impact.
- Create and submit monitoring reports to funders that are both timely and of high quality.
Promoting the Charitable Aims of the Charity
- With marketing support as needed, create effective messaging to be shared externally and with existing members to engender a sense of belonging to the high learning potential community, together with an understanding of its rights and its potential positive impact on society, with the aim of creating a desire to support the charity now and on an ongoing basis.
- Work with the Community Information Coordinator to utilise all appropriate opportunities to convey these messages.
Membership
- Design and coordinate an effective system to enhance the membership offer and improve membership renewal and retention.
- Work with the administration and community teams to ensure that the journey from interested party to becoming a member and from member to retained member is compelling and framed coherently and that systems are in place to effectively implement this.
- Work with the Community Information Coordinator on campaigns and strategies to reach new members, engage with existing members and retain existing members.
- Have a thorough understanding of the membership database, collate information and monitor, evaluate and report on all aspects of membership performance.
- Design and coordinate regular market research, including competitor analysis, to identify member/stakeholder needs, to support the rationale for the development of new member/community products and services, and to liaise with and advise other teams in the organisation as appropriate.
- Analyse and interpret marketing and social media performance.
- Identify opportunities for engagement of the membership and the wider community.

- Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required.

The post holder will have proficient IT skills, specifically Microsoft Office software and excellent communication and presentation skills required to build relationships with potential funders. They will have demonstrative ability to plan and prioritise their own workload with minimum supervision and be able to plan ahead and work within agreed timeframes.
What you will need: The successful candidate will need to be educated to A Level standard or equivalent and have experience of National Lottery Heritage Fund applications. They will have significant experience in Trusts, Grants or Corporate grant and bid writing as well as a proven record of successful applications for funding from Trusts and/or other Grant making bodies. They will possess a demonstrative ability to develop relationships with partners, Trusts, and other Grant-making bodies. Experience of researching Trust and Grant funding opportunities is essential.

The role involves being the first point of contact for a wide range of enquirers and supporters, assisting with the implementation of a regular giving strategy and supporting donor communications and retention. KidsOut’s core mission is to provide support designed to improve emotional, educational and social outcomes for children and young people who are facing numerous adverse childhood experiences associated with domestic abuse, poverty, family breakdown or ill health. We do this by providing joy filled experiences, practical and emotional support, and facilitating therapeutic or educational initiatives that strive to empower each child or young person to overcome adversity, unlock their full potential, and flourish in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
KidsOut’s support is offered to every child in a Women’s Aid refuge and over 100 independent refuges as well as children and young people experiencing crisis and challenge from some of the most marginalised and disadvantaged communities across the UK. Many of the 70,000 children and young people we support have undergone traumatic experiences, which can cause significant harm to their psychological development, their emotional wellbeing, their school life and their relationships.
We aim is to restore some normality and provide comfort to these traumatised children and young people though our programme of wellbeing amd educational activities. Our multi-faceted activities include fun days out, music, sport and art workshops as well as delivery of our bespoke Toyboxes to every child arriving at refuge. Additionally, for young people struggling to cope with their mental health we collaborate with regional partners to offer face-to-face sessions that offer specialist support and coping strategies to build resilience and improve emotional wellbeing.
In your role of Trust and Partnerships Officer you will be actively involved in the provision of these positive initiatives by applying your excellent research and relationship management skills to help develop a pipeline of income from charitable trusts and corporate foundations with the potential to support our wide range of projects. You will identify and develop compelling applications to secure funding through various funding sources, that not only contributes to the financial team target but makes a difference to the UK's most vulnerable children.
Key Duties:
- You will write compelling and successful funding applications to Charitable Trusts, Statutory funds and other grant making organisations.
- You’ll keep up to date on the UK grant funding market and trends
- You’ll build and maintain grants and partnership pipeline, seeking out new prospects and opportunities to support existing and new projects.
- You’ll ensure compliant and organised information filing on SharePoint and CRM to facilitate access to relevant information for colleagues and ensure smooth collaboration.
