We are currently finalising our next Forward Plan, with an ambition to create an inclusive, vibrant community, committed to everyone having a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.  We currently work with children and young people aged 5 to 30. 

Our priority programmes include support coaching for young people, community activity sessions, sustaining our accommodation provision for vulnerable young adults and establishing how we can best support more young people on the homelessness pathway.  We have some great spaces that are in need of development, and we expect that both capital and revenue funding will be included in your workload. We also look for smaller grants during the course of the year, including for food for our residents and supplies for our art groups, and we hope to recruit volunteers to assist with some elements of this work.

The core of your role will be in generating funds from trusts and individual giving, with other fundraising and communications tasks included as time permits.

• To create and update cases for support for YMCA Doncaster’s fundable projects and general running costs.
• To be responsible for an assigned portfolio of trusts, foundations and similar, developing knowledge of, and relationships with, those funders.
• To make strong applications to funders within the assigned portfolio, matching YMCA Doncaster’s agreed cases for support with funders’ interests and requirements.
• To create, publicise and monitor outcomes of giving campaigns and / or fundraising events. 
• To nurture key external stakeholders including potential supporters from the local business community, the media and others as appropriate.
• To prepare and give presentations, maintain ongoing contact and host trustee or representative visits where required as part of fundraising work.
• To devise and oversee efficient evaluation and monitoring systems which meet funder requirements.
• To keep comprehensive records, in an established format, from initial contact with a potential funder through to either the rejection correspondence or the funding agreement and subsequent monitoring and evaluation.
• To ensure that staff and volunteers joining YMCA Doncaster are encouraged to contribute to positive communications and fundraising efforts.
• To supervise / oversee volunteers and less experienced staff engaged in fundraising work. 
• To comply with fundraising and other legislation relevant to the role.
• To report to the Chief Executive monthly in the required format.
• Additional or other duties as necessary within your capabilities and status to meet the needs of YMCA Doncaster.

This is an exciting chance to gain a full year of hands-on experience working with a place-based funder. You will be learning how funding decisions are made and how grants are administered to create real impact in local communities. You’ll not only develop practical skills in project delivery and grant management, but also build a strong understanding of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

In addition to supporting grant administration, you will lead your own project from start to finish. This will involve conducting research, engaging with local organisations and sector leaders, and producing a clear, actionable plan that addresses a real need in the sector and how the Foundation can look to ease that need. You’ll have the autonomy to shape your project while receiving guidance and support from the Chief Executive and Grants and Programmes manager, giving you the perfect balance of independence and mentorship.

What you will be achieving

The Grants Officer will be a member of the Biomedical Grants and Policy Department. You will work with a Grants Manager to administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities. You will act as a key point of contact for external liaison relating to the schemes. Working with the other Grants Officers and the rest of the Team, you will also help to develop and deliver events for Academy grant holders, as well as contribute to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, and the delivery of our strategy.

The Grant Officer will be line managed by a Grants Manager.

What you will be doing

Administering a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grant schemes:

• Processing applications, determining eligibility and coordinating peer review of eligible applications
• Convening and supporting the awarding panel, including preparation of committee papers, reports and financial information, as well as preparing feedback to applicants
• Managing the new grants once awarded, along with the Academy’s existing portfolio of grants
• Supporting the monitoring of awards and evaluation of grants schemes
• Analysing data and preparing papers, presentations and reports to demonstrate the impact of our schemes for internal and external use
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date data on grants
• Researching and reporting on initiatives being undertaken by other UK funders

Liaising with stakeholders:

• Working with the Academy’s Fellowship, in their roles as peer reviewers, selection panel members and Chairs, honorary Officers and members of Council
• Acting as a key external point of contact for the Academy’s grants schemes, such as by providing advice to applicants, awardees, and host organisations
• Developing and maintaining working relationships with scheme funders
• Working with other Academy staff, particularly the rest of the Careers department and supporting the other Grants Officers in the delivery of their schemes, as required

Supporting the development and delivery of events for Academy grant holders, for example induction and scientific meetings for grant holders

Contributing to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, including drafting and providing data for papers for the Academy’s governing committees

Acting as line-manager or project manager for one of the Academy’s interns, on a rotation basis and when the opportunity arises

Performing any other duties that might be reasonably expected, and which are commensurate with this level of post

About this role

SPANA is investing in its Grants and Compliance function to strengthen financial oversight and accountability across its global partnerships. The Grants and Compliance team plays a critical role in safeguarding resources, supporting partners and ensuring compliance with donor requirements and SPANA’s internal policies. The team works closely with colleagues across departments and with partner organisations to deliver impactful programmes for the welfare of working animals worldwide.
Reporting to the Grants Compliance Manager, the Grants Finance Officer is a key role within this function. The position ensures robust financial management of grants and partner funding by reviewing financial reports, conducting compliance checks and supporting partners with capacity building. The role also maintains accurate grant records, assists with due diligence and contributes to risk assessments and audit processes. By providing clear financial support and guidance, the Grants Finance Officer helps SPANA and its partners meet donor expectations and strengthen accountability, ultimately enabling better programme delivery and impact.

Contract, location and salary

This is a UK based, permanent, full-time (34.5 hours per week) role, and current right to work in the UK is required. This is a hybrid position with regular attendance (1-2 days per month or more if preferred) in our London office. 

The salary for this position is c.£34,000 per annum subject to skills and experience.

Established in 1790, The RLF Grants Programme has helped over 6,000 writers facing financial difficulties by providing hardship grants to help cover day-to-day living costs living or unexpected bills. Working alongside the Head of Grants and fellow Grant Officer, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of applications from both new and returning writers; processing initial enquiries through to presentation to the RLF’s Grants Committee. The successful candidate will be a point of contact for beneficiaries (and their dependents), ensuring smooth delivery of the grants during the writer’s time with us.

Summary

The Church of England has recently agreed a significant increase in funding to support God's mission and ministry across the country, supporting local parishes and growing many more new worshipping communities to serve the whole nation. The distributions will also help fund dioceses' plans to serve the nation in various areas such radically cutting the Church's carbon footprint and supporting parishes, cathedrals, and dioceses with using their buildings, to best missional effect whilst ensuring their protection, enhancement, conservation, and appropriate adaptation.

The Net Zero Carbon programme was established to help the Church of England to deliver its commitment to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It aims to aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030. The team manages the distribution of a grant portfolio worth £190 million across 2023-33, aimed at supporting and equipping dioceses, parishes and other parts of the Church to reach the milestones set out in the Routemap to Net Zero 2030.

This role will play a vital role in supporting the work of the Net Zero Carbon Programme's grant streams, supporting it in delivering a consistent and responsive service to grantees.

The purpose of this role is to provide a responsive service as operational officer for the grant schemes under the Churches Workstream in the Net Zero Carbon Programme:

• Currently the Demonstrator Churches Grant Fund and the Boiler Replacement Hardship Grant Fund,
• 26-28 Decarbonising Churches Grant Fund

The postholder will be the first point of contact on behalf of the grant giver for new applicants and existing grantees under the grant schemes, handling a busy caseload from pre-application contact through to completion. This will involve all aspects of grant service delivery including assessment, issuing of offers and rejections, monitoring, payments, quality assurance and evaluation within the governance and decision-making framework in place for the grant schemes. The postholder will work under the supervision of the Demonstrator Churches Grants Manager and the Decarbonising Churches Lead, who will provide overall guidance and strategic oversight for the relevant grant funds, and will work closely with the Grants Administrator on operational matters.

The role will report directly to the Net Zero Carbon Programme's Decarbonising Churches Lead.

• This is a fixed-term contract due to end December 2028.
• This is a hybrid role required to attend the office location, Church House London one day per week.

We are the main grant-making and fundraising charity for Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Moorfields) and its academic partner UCL (in particular the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology), two world-leading institutions. About the role

You will be the primary point of contact for applicants and other stakeholders throughout the grant management process, ensuring they are supported and managed in a professional and timely manner. This would include communicating feedback to applicants on funding proposals following decision making. You will support development of content that advertises funding opportunities and showcases the impact of the charity's funding.

Our close proximity, and working relationships, with Moorfields and its academic partner UCL (in particular the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology) are very important to this role. A successful candidate will enjoy working with academics, clinicians and other hospital staff, supporting their engagement with, and applications to, our funding programmes.

About you

You will have ambition to develop or expand your career in grants management within a growing grant-making charity. You will have a qualification in a biomedical sciences/health subject. 

• You will also have research experience in an academic or clinical setting and an understanding of research funding processes in a grant-making charity.
• You will be an excellent communicator, able to build confident working relationships at all levels. An ability to network and liaise with scientific, clinical and research communities will be key to your success in this role.
