About the role
We are looking for a Training & Youth Participation Officer for our UK Safeguarding on Transport Project. This is a Hybrid role with some home working and requires frequent travel and overnight stays across the UK.
As a Training and Participation Officer you will be responsible for the delivery of face to face and online training to various stakeholders and groups within the transport community ensuring that our partners and colleagues become our ‘eyes and ears’ in responding to and reporting safeguarding and vulnerability concerns. Through engagement with such partners and community members you will be responsible for delivering training and consultancy activities relating to safeguarding and provision of services to vulnerable children, young people and adults.
Being comfortable with public engagement events, leading training and working as part of multi-agency safeguarding action groups isa must as well as being able to engage and support the young people who form part of our Youth Forum and national Youth Participation.
You’ll play a key role in the development of our UK Programme and part of a dynamic team delivering Railway Children’s programme in the UK.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Emmanuel is one of the Colleges that make up the collegiate structure of the University of Cambridge. We provide a community-focused environment for learning, living and working in peaceful and beautiful grounds situated in the centre of the City. The College was founded in 1584 by Sir Walter Mildmay and has been a centre of outstanding learning ever since. It currently has around 700 students (undergraduate and postgraduate), 90 Fellows (who teach and research at the College) and 180 staff. We welcome people into the Emma community from across the globe, of many different backgrounds, with many different experiences.
The Development Office supports the college in its charitable purpose by building and maintaining a supportive, lifelong, two-way relationship with Members (alumni), and engaging the community of members and friends to contribute their time, expertise and philanthropy. Between 2015 and 2022, the Development Office raised £38m in new philanthropic income through the Emma enables campaign. This was the college’s most successful campaign ever and saw a significant uplift in philanthropy across major, regular, and legacy giving. We are looking now to build on this momentum as we plan the next campaign.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES
The post-holder’s principal objective is to manage the successful development and delivery of the College’s regular giving programme, using multi-channel approaches to increase the value and number of members (alumni) and friends who give, to build on this sustainable annual source of philanthropic income.
Fundraising
- Manage and develop a successful regular giving programme, taking initiative to plan and organise an annual cycle of activity to ensure all contactable members are solicited for a gift once a year, maximising donor retention.
- Manage and deliver the annual telephone campaign, including working with consultants, preparing data, drafting letters, recruiting students, training and call-room management.
- Organise mass and tailored annual appeals (both digital and postal) to members.
- Achieve annual targets for increasing the percentage and number of members and friends who give, set in collaboration with the Head of Development.
- Move prospects through the gift cycle and up the giving ladder in a timely manner.
- Identify and refer regular or longstanding donors with potentially greater capacity to other fundraisers as appropriate.
Communications
- Contact donors whose pledges are due to expire to encourage renewals and upgrades.
- Prepare thank you letters ensuring that donors to the regular giving programme are thanked promptly and appropriately.
- Confidently engage with the college community – including students and Fellows – to gain an understanding of the need for philanthropic support.
- Write compelling fundraising copy for mass appeals.
- Work with the Engagement Manager to contribute to the production of stewardship materials.
Analysis and Innovation
- Analyse the performance and effectiveness of solicitations and mailings, identifying trends, testing solutions, sourcing additional related information where appropriate.
- Analyse sector benchmarking data to provide strategic insight into the comparative performance of the College’s regular giving programme.
- Develop a strong knowledge of sector best practice through networking, benchmarking, identifying and undertaking training and development opportunities and, where appropriate, implement these best practices.
- Research and identify new opportunities, thinking creatively to develop unique appeals.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the Collegiate University, attending working groups, training opportunities and the annual development conference where appropriate.
General Administration
- Ensure that data is recorded accurately and concisely on the Raiser’s Edge database.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in the maintenance of personal and financial records and ensure compliance at all times with Data Protection legislation.
- Have expert knowledge and understanding of current legislation impacting upon regular giving and stewardship, marketing and operations, such as gift aid, General Data Protection Regulations and fundraising regulation, and ensure operational compliance.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for community and events fundraisers, delivering outstanding stewardship ensuring they receive the information and support needed to maximise their fundraising potential while maintaining the highest standards of stewardship and being respectful of potential sensitivities particularly when working with families who are fundraising in memory.
• Provide timely and effective follow-up communications with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
• Maintain our CRM database ensuring accurate records to track communications, income, and supporter preferences, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection laws.
Administrative and Financial Support
• Process cash and cheque donations, Gift Aid and matched funding claims, ensuring this income is processed and recorded accurately on our database.
• Manage the distribution of supporter resources, conduct stock checks for fundraising materials and ensure an organised work environment for all fundraising assets.

Marketing and Communication

Additional Information
Salary is £30,000 - £32,000 per annum (DOE). The role covers 37.5 hours per week. Two days per week working in our charity office at Royal Brompton Hospital - London, and the remaining hours to be worked remotely. Occasional evening and weekend work subject to our events calendar. Carers Manchester Contact Point (CMCP) is the first point of contact for unpaid carers seeking information, advice and support to help them with their caring role.
The service delivers a free confidential helpline for carers weekdays (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm). These times are subject to change, based on the needs and requirements of carers using the service.
The aim of this role is to be part of a team providing a comprehensive information, advice and support to carers in Manchester. The post holder will work alongside colleagues from Gaddum and potentially other organisations to be the first contact in a busy service providing advice via a telephone advice line and managing referrals made through digital sources. Elders Voice, a charity supporting older people, are excited to be joining a consortium of organisations, that will work together on making Brent an age friendly borough. Led by the Brent Pensioner’s Forum, the consortium’s aim is to make Brent a place where people can live healthy and active later lives; a place where the environment, activities and services enable older people to enjoy life, participate in society and be valued for their contribution.
We are looking for a coordinator to develop and implement a borough-wide action plan, that addresses the eight barriers to the wellbeing and participation of older people, as identified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) under their Age Friendly Cities Framework. This action plan will help Brent fulfil its vision of becoming an age friendly borough. The post is funded by a grant from Brent Council and will report into the CEO of Elders Voice.

A mission-driven and impact focused single programme NGO is seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 1 year maternity cover contract. The role is fully remote (from within the UK) and is full-time (5 days per week) for a 12 month contract. There may be the requirement to travel to Ghana on occasion throughout the 12 months. A busy role, in a vibrant charity headed by a passionate Founder/CEO – the role represents the chance to be part of a fantastic international organisation.
Salary is £63,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience, and the role would best suit a fully-qualified accountant with significant experience managing global finance teams within the international development sector.
The organisation’s mission is to get 3-6 year old children in rural Africa to thrive. They have developed an award-winning Early Childhood Development programme, proven its impact through rigorous evaluation, and scaled it with governments in both Ghana and Uganda. It is currently reaching over 300,000 children per year, and we aim to reach 1 million children per year by 2028. The programme benefits both preschool age children and unlocks the potential of marginalised rural parents.
With around 100 staff globally, the interim Finance Director will manage a diverse team of finance professionals. Your role will include setting and managing budgets, supporting fundraising strategy and proposals, overseeing spend and financial controls and processes. You will lead the finance team in Ghana made up of a Junior Finance Manager, four Finance Officers, two bookkeepers and a Procurement and Logistics Officer. You will also manage the Uganda Finance Officer, and Global Finance Manager based in the UK.
The role will involve a mixture of hands-on accounting, complex donor reporting, consolidated and year-end accounts, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial modelling. Xero is used across the organisation, and financial year-end is December.
Duties include:
· Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy, including exciting new opportunities for potential expansion to the southern regions in Ghana and exploring implementation of the programme in a new country.
· Develop and strengthen robust and flexible cost models (including sensitivity analyses/stress testing) to guide decisions around the pace and rate of scale, staffing & resource requirements, ensure value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.
· Develop robust budgets for new and renewal funder applications, considering complexities around funder restrictions, currency exchange and forecast economic conditions.
· Ensure that the organisation-wide financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and audits are robust, compliant and best practice to support current activities and future growth.
· Be pro-active in identifying ways to improve efficiencies and strengthen financial rigour, including leading on internal projects to enhance systems and processes to automate approvals and develop cost recovery models as we look to expand our operations outside Ghana and Uganda.
· Lead and coach the finance team to maintain and deliver operational excellence & financial rigour, closely monitoring the operating and financial reports against plans and budgets.
· Lead monthly financial reviews and oversee timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board, donors and management team.
· Work with our internal operations and programmes team to develop financial systems so that direct financial support is provided to local government partners and they are able to take on responsibility for and account for programme budgets, including overseeing termly financial disbursements and reporting.
· Work with programmes team to build the capacity of local government partners in financial management, procurement, and budgeting so that they will eventually be able to fund and sustain the programme themselves. Create the budgets, financial information, documentation and materials for funding proposals.
· Oversee the creation of all financial reports for funders, ensuring mechanisms to track and report against restricted income are robust, and preparing financial analyses for funder
· Provide monthly and quarterly management accounts for trustees summarising current and forecast financial position for the year, cashflow analysis and KPI reporting.
· Attend trustee meetings, present information to the Board and liaise with Board members, including leading the quarterly Finance and Audit Committee meetings.
· Ensure that the Statutory Accounts for all entities are prepared, including internal information is collated and provided, external auditors are instructed and deliver to standard.
· Ensure all organisations are compliant with tax, regularity and legal requirements (e.g payroll, tax, NGO registration, insurance, registrations with regulatory authorities)
· Actively manage the performance and build the capacity of direct reports through training, coaching, holding 1to1s, setting performance goals, appraisals, developing new policies and practices.

Through the appointment of a Strategic Programme Director (SPD), we have been given an opportunity to bring a step change in our mission and ministry across the Diocese of Coventry. With a history of innovative missional practice and a dedicated team of lay and ordained leaders across our diverse geographical area (Warwickshire, Coventry and part of Solihull), we are looking to appoint a strategic thinker who is solutions focused with experience in bringing impactful change. The SPD will join us at an exciting time in the strategic development of the Diocese of Coventry as our new diocesan bishop takes up her responsibilities with a vision to see all churches flourish. A highly consultative approach will be needed as we look ahead to the beginning of this new season.
The Strategic Programme Director will be responsible for contributing to and supporting the Bishop’s Senior Staff Team and key lay and ordained leaders in the delivery of the diocesan strategy. The role will ensure that the programmes, projects and workstreams within the plan are delivered on time, within scope and budget. The Programme Director will provide oversight of the strategic plan from inception of ideas through implementation to delivery of projects. Working collaboratively across the Diocese, the role will also ensure that key outcomes are well-defined, appropriately prioritised, delivered to plan and within budget. Programme Development & Planning
