About the role.

As Head of Fundraising and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll work closely with the CEO to devise the organisation’s fundraising strategy as they enter a positive and ambitious new five-year plan.

There is a very well-established trust and foundation fundraising programme, which you’ll work to continue and expand, building on existing relationships and spotting opportunities to create new partnerships with relevant funders. As our Access & Learning Assistant (Digital), you will deliver across the whole range of Access and Learning Department activities, while leading on the creation of digital content.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, unlike NHS emergency services, is a charity. This free life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and rapid response vehicles.

Each critical care team consists of a pilot and co-pilot, a pre-hospital care doctor and a critical care paramedic.

They can be rushed to the scene with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care, usually only in the hospital emergency department.

Job Summary

The Haringey Community Collaborative Manager is responsible for leading the development of the VCS Capacity Building strategy and the effective co-ordination of the Community Collaborative team which includes a Communications and Engagement Officer, a Workplace Development Manager, and a Capacity Building Manager.

We envisage the Haringey Community Collaborative Manager performing at either a primarily operational level or, for a more experienced candidate, at both operational and strategic levels. PERSON SPECIFICATION

Overview / purpose of the role

We’re looking for a Finance & Operations Assistant who is interested in developing a career in bookkeeping and/or accountancy within the nonprofit sector. No previous experience is required, just lots of passion and a motivation to pursue a long-term career in charity finance. The successful candidate will undertake training with the AAT (funded by us) towards a bookkeeping qualification alongside working as our Finance & Operations Assistant, you will be given some time to study during your working hours for this qualification.

The Finance & Operations Assistant is a central resource within CGP, working with colleagues in the Operations Team, and across the organisation to provide financial and operational support to all areas of our work. They will work closely with the Head of Operations & Evaluation to process invoices, expenses and conduct weekly payment runs, ensuring that all financial policies and procedures are carefully adhered to. Responsibilities

Finance

● Managing our accounts payable inbox, monitoring all incoming invoices and following up with team members on any missing information if required

● Processing and coding invoices  in Xero accounting software ahead of weekly payment runs

● Checking that correct coding and approval procedures are followed for staff expenses in Soldo

● Conducting weekly payment runs via our online banking system

● Coordinating our monthly payroll processes (working with external providers)

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support the development of funding proposals

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance to support financial reporting on grants for external donors

● Supporting the Head of Operations & Evaluation and Director of Finance with general financial administration, record keeping and tracking budgets

● Provide training on expense and invoicing processes to new members of staff and generally acting as the first point of contact for all staff on any finance procedure questions (full training will be provided)

● Supporting the Senior Management Team (SMT) and our Director of Finance to develop the annual organisational budget and report against it quarterly

● Providing budgeting support as required for colleagues internally

Office Management & General Operational Support

● Acting as the key point of contact between CGP & our coworking office space (organising memberships, meeting room bookings, invoices, printing credits, equipment, internal events etc.)

● Organising post, stationery supplies and managing stocks of office equipment

● Maintain/organise our filing and cloud storage systems logically and efficiently, in a data protection compliant manner.

● Ad hoc IT support as required, including online troubleshooting and logging support requests with service providers when necessary.

● General administrative support to the CEO and Head of Operations & Evaluation

Human Resources

● Support with recruitment processes within CGP, including assisting members of the team to schedule and coordinate job interviews, contact candidates and file incoming applications.

● Working with the Head of Operations & Evaluation to organise internal events like team away days and staff team building activities.

Person specification

The right candidate is less likely to be defined by their qualifications and prior experience, but will be someone who meets the below criteria, and is ready to learn. They will have an aptitude for maths and finance,  excellent attention to detail and a meticulous, methodical approach to work and troubleshooting.

We are looking for someone who:

● Has an interest in developing a career in the nonprofit finance sector and willing to commit to undertaking financial training

● Is broadly supportive of UK Aid

● Is an independent worker, self-starter who can take responsibility for projects through to completion

● Has excellent IT skills, proficient with MS Office programmes (particularly Excel) and Google Workspace, and the ability to learn to use new software as required (for example, Xero, Soldo and Salesforce)

● Has great people skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders

About this key role

As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant.  We will count on you to implement effective processes and procedures across the Fundraising and collaborating teams, manage and refine processes for recordkeeping and devise, maintain and update our Fundraising Handbook.

You will also be expected to manage the development and implementation of our Individual Giving Strategy and our Individual Giving income stream through single and regular giving appeals, as well as managing a portfolio of challenge events nationally that provides excellent stewardship for a range of participants.  Developing and designing high-quality applications, presentations, and pitches to secure five-, six- and seven figure funding opportunities from Trusts & Foundations, Corporates and High Net Worth Individuals is a key element of this role, as is providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.

The Stewardship and Events team, with the Senior Stewardship and Events Manager leading, plays an important role in transforming our high value fundraising through the development of transformative funding propositions, high profile fundraising and stewardship events and the creation of the highest quality stewardship tools.

This role will be a crucial part of the High Value Partnerships leadership team and represents a fantastic opportunity to support the growth and development of our major donor, trust and statutory and corporate partnerships portfolios.

About You

You will have experience of building compelling cases for support, bids and partnership concepts specifically for major donors, companies and grant funders. You will have a flair for translating complex information into simple concise and compelling communications in a range of formats. You will also have excellent attention to detail, with experience of interpreting financial and impact data.

You will have experience in developing a special events programme to support engagement and high value fundraising; understanding the importance of events within high value stewardship plans.

Your excellent relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills combined with your experience of working with a range of internal teams and external stakeholders will ensure that the needs of our high value funding audiences are met and understood.

You will be a highly experienced people manager and leader, possessing strong relationship and project management skills. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work across a number of conflicting deadlines and priorities. You will ideally be able to demonstrate fundraising experience and previous experience of working with high net worth individuals and committees is advantageous.

About the Role

As Senior Stewardship and Events Manager, you will be leading on the creation of ambitious funding propositions which will be attractive to high value donors and funders, working with key stakeholders from across the organisation to fully understand our existing services and transformational projects; translating complex information into compelling cases for support to be used by our High Value Partnerships team in funding applications, pitches and proposals. You will work closely with Recovery Services, Data and Insights and Finance teams to ensure all relevant information is gathered and reporting and evaluation processes are in place.

Working with your team and the wider High Value Partnerships team you will develop a special events programme to support engagement and fundraising, as well as leading on the development of developing engaging and relevant donor and prospect communications. You will work alongside the High Value Events Officer and other High Value Partnerships Senior Managers to conceptualise, plan and deliver a range of event types, offering a variety of activities to engage and inspire high value supporters, and ensure they are connected to, and inspired by, the work of Help for Heroes.

You will support our relationship management teams across High Value Partnerships to embed and further develop the high value stewardship strategy to ensure those who support Help for Heroes at the highest levels enjoy an exceptional supporter experience.
