This is a senior leadership position in a merged organisation.
- Collaboration with the District Chair and the District Secretary for Ministries & Vocations in the leadership of the District, and promoting the values of the District in all work practice.

- Responsibility for compliance with all relevant legal, financial, and governance matters, including compliance with the relevant parts of The Constitutional Practice and Disicipline of the Methodist Church, including:
- budget and accounting, in partnership with the District Treasurer;
- data protection;
- lay employment processes;
- safeguarding.
- Working with the District Safeguarding Officers, the District Safeguarding Group and others to ensure safeguarding processes for the District are robust and effective.
- Responsibility, together with relevant District officers and bodies, for strategy for property and finance across the District, and for its implementation.
- Enabling the District Property Consents group to fulfil their responsibilities regarding property matters within the District.
- Coordinating the District Grants Policy and its implementation through the District Grants Committee.
- Ensuring that the District’s responsibilities for Reconciliation and Complaints are fulfilled, including liaising with the other District Leaders and ensuring the appointment and functioning of the District Local Complaints Officer and District Reconciliation and Complaints Support Group(s).
- Collaboration with the District Chair and others to ensure good practice in internal and external communication, including through the District Communications Officer.

The Task Ahead: Finance Manager
As The Difference moves from its early start-up phase into the delivery of our 2025-30 strategy, our programmes and sector-influencing work are expanding to reach more schools and to deepen our impact. Alongside this growth, our team - and the operational function which supports them - is also growing.
As Finance Manager, you will be a key member of the Finance & Operations team. You will hold end-to-end responsibility for the finance function, from reconciliations to budgeting. You will decide where and how our existing processes could be improved, as well as developing new systems that will underpin our work as a larger and more established charity. You will be supported by the Director of People, Finance & Operations, as well as our external auditors.
The Difference is still a small and growing charity. This means that our work is fast-paced, our roles are broad, and there is a culture of being reactive and flexible, as the needs of the organisation evolve. Areas of Responsibility
The Difference is looking for a Finance Manager to lead our finance function in the following ways:

Oversee our internal bookkeeping, payment, and accounting processes, and improve these systems ongoingly.

Lead on budgeting and forecasting across the organisation, supporting teams to predict income and expenditure and make sound financial decisions.

Lead on the production of management accounting information, including internal monthly management accounts, quarterly reports for Trustees, and financial reports for investors.

Lead on The Difference’s audit process, with external auditors.

Work with the Development & Impact Manager to update fundraising pipelines, and ensure the availability of high quality income projections for Trustees.

Support accurate budgeting and reporting for grant funding, including tracking spend of restricted funds.

Support business planning by working with teams to model potential future work - e.g. costs of expansion of an existing programme; modelling potential new programmes.

Why Work for The Difference?
Schooling isn’t working for the children who need it most. Every week in England 109 children – equivalent to three full classrooms – are permanently excluded. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Since the pandemic, school suspensions have risen significantly, as has persistent absenteeism. 1 in 5 children are missing more than 10% of their time in school. Children who are excluded or persistently absent are much more likely to already be experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage. They are more likely to live in poverty, have additional learning needs, suffer mental health challenges, or experience a lack of safety outside school. Certain ethnicities are also disproportionately affected, notably Gypsy Roma Traveller and black Caribbean children.
Exclusion and high rates of absence can have a dramatic effect on life chances. These young people are more likely to drop out of education or employment, become vulnerable to long-term mental ill health, or be at risk of criminal exploitation. The Difference believes that children and young people deserve better and that the education system has to change.
Our Organisation
The Difference is a young education charity, founded to change the story on lost learning. By 2030, we want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable. The Difference was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.
The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.

The Survivors Trust is a UK-wide membership organisation for specialist voluntary sector rape and sexual abuse support services. Our vision is for a society where services for survivors are trauma-informed and accessible according to need. We’re looking for a Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly team at our head office in Rugby, working with our Income Generation Manager to ensure our income meets the increasing demands for our services.
You will lead on developing and supporting trust, grant, commissioned and community fundraising activities, including researching fundraising opportunities and writing grant applications, working in collaboration with the Income Generation Manager. Supporting our amazing community fundraisers is an important element of the role, providing fundraising newsletters, updates and maintaining our fundraising webpages.
You will ideally have previous experience of working in the voluntary sector and experience of developing funding applications and building relationships with donors and fundraisers, but please don’t be put off applying if you don’t meet all these requirements. Introduction
Working in a friendly and supportive team, the Admin and Support Assistant will help to facilitate the day to day running of the Foodbank and will be the first point of contact for many visitors, referral agencies, local partners and donors. Lewisham Foodbank is run by Transform Network (www.transformnetwork.london), a partnership of local churches. We have the Trussell Trust franchise for the London Borough of Lewisham and are one of a network of 1500 Trussell Trust foodbanks across the UK. The foodbank, which has been operating since November 2012, is founded on Christian principles. Not every member of the team is a Christian, but we all subscribe to the same values and would expect the new team member will too. Our strong staff and volunteer teams work with the most vulnerable people to transform lives and communities. Purpose of the Post
This role will support the smooth running of all Lewisham Foodbank operations by providing effective and supportive communications to those who contact the main Foodbank phone line and inbox. The postholder will be based at the New Hope Centre office (353H Bromley Road, SE6 2RP) and will respond to enquiries in a timely manner with relevant information, or direct them to the relevant staff member. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and will communicate well with other team members, clients and external organisations to troubleshoot when challenges arise, sometimes being required to provide information and support to people facing complex and distressing situations. The postholder will liaise and work closely with the rest of the team to ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and communication is in line with our policies and values.
Lewisham Foodbank works on a referral system and works with over 500 local organisations who refer people to our services. The postholder will be responsible for setting up new referral agencies on our system and sending out onboarding information and regular updates to these partners. They will also have responsibility for checking requests for home deliveries and coordinating the preparation and administration of these with a small group of delivery volunteers. This may occasionally require phoning clients and packing deliveries themselves if a volunteer has not been able to attend.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
● Respond promptly to enquiries on the main food bank phone and inbox from visitors, referrals organisations, donors and others.
● Either reply to enquiries or forward to the relevant member of staff.
● Sort emails into relevant folders and update records, when necessary, on the data collection system.
● Assess requests for deliveries and co-ordinate with delivery volunteer teams to prepare and deliver to a small group of clients’ homes.
● Liaise with referral agencies when more information or communication about deliveries is required.
● Keep the database updated with delivery requests.
● Set up new partners as referral agencies on the Data Collection System and send them all the relevant onboarding information.
● Contact referrers where clients have exceeded voucher limits and agree ongoing support in collaboration with the Project Manager.
● Create and send thank you certificates to donors at regular intervals.
● Support administrative volunteers to issue e-vouchers on behalf of job centres and other agencies that are not signed up as referrers.
● Deal with enquiries regarding Acts 435 grants and provide relevant information or signposting.
● Participate in relevant training courses and Food Network meetings.
● Keep up to date with local support and signposting information.
● Occasionally take minutes at meetings.
● Occasionally visit foodbank distribution centres and be prepared to step in to help at centres or the warehouse if there is an unexpected shortage of volunteers.
● To use online data systems and ensure all warehouse paperwork is stored securely in line with GDPR.

Role overview.
Complete international grant expenditure audits for a diverse range of projects (grant recipients) funded by international donor institutions ranging from emergency aid, to long term development in areas such as agriculture, health or infrastructure or technical research. Assignments are 1-3 weeks in length and based across the European mainland and the developing world. These are offered on an assignment by assignment basis, one to two months in advance.

Requirements
- Qualified ACA / ACCA or equivalent – 5+ years post qualified experience
- Grant management and audit and reporting experience with international institutions. Preference given to individuals that have worked on UN or EC grant assurance assignments
- Diplomacy and cultural sensitivity while working with a hugely diverse range of clients and beneficiaries
- A real interest in international development and associated funding structures
- Ideally but not essential fluency in a second language such as Spanish, German, French, Arabic & Portugese

About the role
As the charity works to double the number of women it helps, we are recruiting for a Fundraising Events Lead to join our Newcastle team. Reporting to the Centre Manager, they will engage new and existing supporters and achieve income targets, raising vital funds across events and community fundraising to support of our mission.
In practice, this involves identifying new locations to deliver our annual events calendar including our sustainable fashion sales, and delivering our annual community fundraising campaign to target income, Cycle for Smart Works.

Duties and responsibilities
- Leading on Smart Works Newcastle’s signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events, fashion sales, and pop-up shops, managing the project from planning to execution and ensuring income targets of circa £55K are met.

Head to Toe, the charity of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), has been awarded a 3-year grant to support patients receiving end of life care. This is a partnership between Head to Toe, CPFT voluntary services, NHS community nursing teams, and charity end of life volunteering specialists, the Anne Robson Trust.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. About this role
The role of the Finance and Payroll Manager is to support the Development and Finance teams to manage and report on restricted income, as well as to manage monthly in-house payroll under the guidance of the Head of Finance. This involves ensuring that we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes and that staff are paid accurately and on time each month. The Finance and Payroll Manager will work within a small Finance team under the supervision of the Head of Finance. They will work closely with the Joint ED, wider Senior Management Team, Head of Development and budget holders throughout the organisation.
They will support the Head of Finance with annual budgeting and quarterly re-forecasting as well as with the production of the monthly management accounts. They will support the Development team in making grant applications and develop restricted grant budgets for newly secured grants for integration into the organisational budget; they will meet regularly with the Development team and budget holders to review restricted project spend. They will produce reports for funders working in conjunction with our Development Team and casework teams.
