Job description

We are currently looking for candidates for an 18 month Fixed Term Contract across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and this role will be based in our offices or at home.

Data can be a powerful tool for empowering grassroots environmental campaigners and for telling powerful stories of hopes, threats, and injustices in order to build a better world for people and planet.  We want to appoint an Environmental Data Lead to develop our skills in this area, build-on our existing data products and to grow a network of volunteer data enthusiasts to build capacity and extend reach.

As well as having expertise in using data tools for statistical analysis and display (such as SQL, R, Python, Excel, QGIS), you will also need to be a great team worker building strong relationships with others across the organisation and across the wider data community. You'll need to demonstrate that you are passionate about using data to make a meaningful impact on the climate and ecological emergency and for addressing environmental injustices.

Closing date: 21st September 2021

We offer a competitive range of benefits, good work/life balance, excellent learning and development opportunities and a vibrant organisational culture.

We are an equal opportunities employer and are especially keen to encourage applications from people currently under-represented in the environment movement. In particular we welcome people from a BAME background and/or lived experience of disability or other marginalised background.

Friends of the Earth is an international community dedicated to protecting the natural world and the wellbeing of everyone in it. We lead campaigns, provide resources and information, and drive real solutions to the environmental problems facing us all.
