We are now looking for a Biodiversity Manager to join us on a full-time basis, working 36 hours per week, for a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.

The Role

As our Biodiversity Manager, you will lead the delivery of our Biodiversity Framework 2023-2030.

Overseeing conservation projects and habitat enhancement across some of London’s most ecologically important green spaces, you’ll drive the integration of biodiversity objectives into park management plans and annual operations.

You’ll lead and support contractors, staff, and volunteers to implement biodiversity initiatives across the parks, from ancient woodlands and acid grasslands to ponds and historic landscapes.

Additionally, you will:

• Lead the Biodiversity team and oversee budgets, work plans, and risk assessments
• Co-ordinate wildlife surveys
• Manage the biodiversity database
• Provide ecological advice to ensure compliance with environmental legislation
• Develop biodiversity communications and contribute to visitor engagement initiatives
• Promote wildlife conservation partnerships

About You

To be considered as a Biodiversity Manager, you will need:

• Experience developing and delivering biodiversity and/or wildlife conservation projects and programmes
• Experience managing budgets and delivering, reporting and evaluating projects
• Experience managing, motivating and developing direct report(s) and/or a small team
• Evidence of using national and regional legislation and policy relevant to biodiversity conservation, planning guidance, site designation for wildlife conservation and species status designations
• An understanding of ecological land management principles and conservation of historic park landscapes
• Practical conservation and habitat management skills
• A relevant degree (or equivalent experience) in wildlife conservation or environmental studies

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Project Lead to manage and collaborate with an external development/implementation partner and coordinate the smooth adoption of Salesforce within the Charity.  This critical role will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from planning and requirements gathering to execution, testing, training, and post-implementation support. You will be the central point of contact for all project stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration throughout the project.

 Main Responsibilities

• Work with the Director or Finance & Operations (DFO)  to invite tenders for and engage a development / implementation partner to support the adoption of this phase of Salesforce implementation
• Work with the development/implementation partner to develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Manage the execution of these plans, tracking progress, and ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.

 Person specification 

• Proven experience (three years minimum) of leading digital transformation projects, with a strong focus on Salesforce implementations and customisations and a strong record of success.
• Deep understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities.
• Excellent project management skills, including budget and stakeholder management.

Terms & Conditions

• Assist in formulating and implementing woodland management plans to uphold sustainable woodland management and conservation practices.
• Provide expert advice to local authorities, landowners, and other stakeholders on woodland establishment, management, and conservation, fostering collaborative relationships.
• Lead an annual multi-million-pound programme of Mersey Forest partnership planting schemes across the Mersey Forest area, ensuring compliance with the UK Forestry Standard and other regulatory guidelines. This includes leading and managing the woodland advisors, operations team and ecologist.
• Work closely with the Mersey Forest Director and various stakeholders, including the Forestry Commission and Natural England, to ensure clarity on the scale of sites requiring regulatory approval.

The Role 

We are looking for a passionate and driven person to lead and deliver the day to day operations across our North West Reserves Region. Delivering the conservation and restoration objectives of the reserves, through practical work, growing and managing locally based volunteers, supporting management planning and monitoring. This role will also manage building maintenance, infrastructure and access on our North West Reserves. The role will work closely with the regional reserves team supported by the Reserves Manager. This is a chance to make a difference to the protection and restoration of nature at a time when it has never been more important. 

The candidate: 

· The successful candidate will have a Higher Education qualification in environmental land management (Wildlife conservation/agriculture) and at least two years’ experience of wildlife reserve management and demonstrable track record in the environmental land management sector. 

Main Objectives 

· Champion the Vision and/or objectives for all reserves and projects in the region with existing and potential stakeholders and contributors. 

· Oversee and provide delivery of day-to-day operations on our reserves, where relevant and appropriate this will include maintenance of buildings, grounds, offices, workshops and wider infrastructure. 

· Facilitate external and internal meetings and knowledge exchange events. 

· Support, with line management, the roles detailed in the region-specific addendum. 

· Work closely with the Reserves Manager (post’s line-manager) who will continue to develop and support delivery of teamwork plans, to ensure consistency of approach and maximise capacity across reserves where appropriate. 

The successful candidate will ideally have: 

· Good understanding of land management for wildlife conservation. 

· Two years' experience of wildlife reserve management operations and demonstrable track record in the environmental land management sector. 

· Experience of procurement and contract management. 

· Experience of managing a team of staff, with line management responsibility, to promote a positive culture.
