Sooty, the nation’s much-loved bear and a true national treasure, has featured on RNIB’s collection boxes for over 50 years. Thanks to generous public support, these iconic boxes have raised more than £13 million in donations.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.

You can give as much or as little time as you like and fit the role around your other commitments.

Please note: Volunteers are expected to use their own transport and ideally should have access to a car. Mileage or public transport costs will be reimbursed.

Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that 
have been bereaved.

REQUIREMENTS OF A BEFRIENDER INCLUDE:

- Completing an online call log record promptly after each phone call

- Ensuring immediate contact with the Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others

- Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs

- Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults

Role Description

The Press/Media Manager will work closely with the Communication Officer to lead on the Pagan Federation's media strategy. You will act as a primary point of contact for journalists, broadcasters, and media outlets working to promote positive coverage of Paganism and to respond appropriately to media interest, engaging in both proactive and reactive.

You will develop and oversee press strategies, prepare statements and press releases, brief spokespersons, and assist the organisation in sensitive communications where required. As this is a council-level role within the Pagan Federation you will be expected to provide regular reports to the Communications Officer and the Council of the Pagan Federation.

This is a voluntary role, and volunteers are expected to work remotely. We have volunteers working across England and Wales. Some travel may be necessary, reasonable expenses will be covered in line with our expenses policy.

Qualifications

• At least two years experience in the field of Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar. (Essential)
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in media engagement. (Essential)
• Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively assist in strategic communications planning and discussions. (Essential)
• Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and inclusiveness of the Pagan Federation. (Essential)

The Vacancy

This Committee, which will replace the Stationing Committee, will provide a strategic overview of stationing across the Connexion, for all ministers (deacons, presbyters, probationers and ministers of other Churches and Conferences).

The Deputy Chair supports the Chair in ensuring the effective functioning of the SSC, leads operational coordination and specific delegated workstreams, and provides continuity of leadership by deputising for the Chair when required.

Now we’re looking for a Head of External Affairs who can take this mission beyond our walls and into the national conversation.

What You’ll Lead

As our Head of External Affairs, you will:

• Shape and lead MINDSET’s public voice, messaging, and external presence

• Build relationships with partners, community leaders, influencers, and organisations

• Support media engagement, press releases, and public statements

• Help position MINDSET as a national leader in men’s wellbeing and preventative mental health

• Work with the CEO and leadership team to influence policy, research, and national conversations

• Represent the charity at events, meetings, and public forums

• Ensure our values — honesty, courage, growth, brotherhood, inclusion, action — shine through everything we say and do

You’ll be the bridge between our mission and the world.

• A passion for communication, storytelling, and influence

• Confidence in representing a mission publicly

• Strong relationship‑building skills

• Emotional intelligence and cultural awareness

• A belief in preventative mental health and positive masculinity

• A desire to help shape a national movement

• The courage to speak up for men who feel they can’t
