You’ll be responsible, alongside our Head of Content, for producing our world-class lessons, with help from a supportive, collaborative team and a wealth of journalistic expertise from across The Economist Group. You will be a creative teacher, or ex-teacher, who is excited to turn the biggest issues in the news into engaging lessons for 10- to 16-year olds. You’ll research global topics and consider the best angles and innovative activities to produce a lesson every week. RESPONSIBILITIES

Create Topical Talk classroom resources for children (60%)

● Research and pitch lesson plans that cover the most important facts, arguments, perspectives and questions

● Write, edit and proofread teaching resources. Your core responsibility will be to create a weekly, 1-hour “Headlines” lesson

● Collaborate with journalists at The Economist to ensure all work is of the highest quality

● Work with our Graphic Designer on the look and feel of the content

● Manage diaries, build rapport and communicate effectively to ensure deadlines are met

● Seek out and conduct interviews with topic experts

● Work with the Head of Content to monitor and evaluate the success of lessons

Design resources for one-off current affairs workshops/events for children (20%)

● Create one-off student workshops and events, from the idea-generation stage to writing, proofreading, delivery and evaluation

● Create lesson and website content for the annual Topical Talk Festival, where students join online discussions about the news

Teach lessons, facilitate student discussions and train teachers (20%)

The successful candidate will work with the Head of the Gambling Action Lab (GAL) and the Senior Research Officer to bring together a handful of representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling-related financial harms. They will build and maintain stakeholder relationships and play a key role in facilitating group discussions with financial services representatives. This exciting role will also involve driving and promoting the work and visibility of the GAL, and planning and delivering a programme of events to promote our work.

In this position, you will play an important role in helping us to further understand the links between money, mental health problems and gambling harms and work with firms and stakeholders to develop practical solutions that lead to real change.

About the role

Established in 1997, Jigsaw4u provide a range of services for children, young people and families experiencing complex social and emotional difficulties in South West London.  Jigsaw4u has experienced considerable growth and development over the past several years, and this new role has been identified by the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer to support Jigsaw4u’s position and aspirations for the future.

As a member of our Senior Management Team (SMT), you will help to deliver and shape Jigsaw4u's vision and strategy. It will be your responsibility to ensure that Jigsaw4u’s services achieve their goals, meet their strategic objectives and achieve our growth targets while being delivered to Jigsaw4u’s exceptionally high standards.

Under the direction of the CEO, the postholder’s areas of responsibility will be to: 

• Line Manage the Service Managers, ensuring that their teams are high performing, reporting and data collection is of a high standard and relationships with funders and other stakeholders are outstanding.
• Ensure that the structure of all Jigsaw4u services are optimised to allow for growth and support staff and volunteers (including trainee counsellors/therapists) to develop key skills.

The role

As Community Engagement Officer you will play a key role in ensuring the Foundation achieves its objectives of engaging with and increasing physical activity levels amongst the four key priority groups facing the greatest inequalities: low socio-economic groups, women and girls, disabled people and people with long term health conditions, and culturally diverse communities. This will predominantly be achieved through the critical support you will provide to our ambitious PlayZones Programme, as we continue to roll the programme out across priority areas of the Country.

We have an ambition to deliver in excess of 200 PlayZone facilities by 2025. To realise this ambition, we’re going to focus on investing in safe, inclusive, and accessible facilities in communities with the greatest need. We will tackle inequalities in physical activity levels and create inclusive opportunities for our priority groups to become active through recreational formats of football and other sports and activities.

With a great deal to do, the role will be pivotal in working with local groups to support them through the application process, and to ensure high quality projects are being developed based on local community need.

The role sits within the Football Foundation’s Delivery Team, the team responsible for strategic identification and capital project delivery, reporting to the Community Engagement Lead and with responsibility for a portfolio of PlayZone programme areas within one of the Delivery Team geographical regions.

You will provide critical support to applicants and work extremely closely with our network of Delivery Managers & Officers to advise and agree community engagement plans for a range of Over £25k projects – helping to ensure their engagement is robust, but that applicants also receive support and guidance as required throughout the development of their application.

Community Engagement Officers will champion the benefits of great engagement, capturing good practice, identifying successful approaches, and share knowledge and learning across the Foundation and other stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to follow football to apply, but it is expected that you appreciate the power of sport to change lives and have a genuine interest in using your skills and experience to help the Foundation achieve our charitable and strategic objectives.

You must be educated to HND/Degree standard, or with the equivalent experience, with knowledge of how sports development can be used for community benefit. You must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience of communicating with and supporting a diverse range of colleagues and customers remotely.

Your knowledge of place-based working and how to best reach and engage with local communities will be key for this role, as well as your understanding of the inequalities that exist in supporting active lives across socio economic groups, women & girls, individuals with a disability or a long-term health condition, and culturally diverse communities. You will be aware of and have experience of dealing with the operations and challenges faced by community organisations, charities, and the voluntary sector.

You must be highly organised, with working knowledge of different project management techniques and experience of managing multiple projects at the same time. While not essential, experience of producing robust reports and of using dashboards to monitor the progress of projects would be useful.

What can we offer you?

The salary for this role is £30,000 - £34,000 per annum (dependent on relevant skills and experience). You will start on 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (which increases after 2 years), plus additional time off to volunteer. The Role

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a newly created fundraising products team that's responsible for both new and innovative product development and our sector leading virtual events programme. As the Fundraising Products Officer, you'll be instrumental in delivering and refining a diverse range of innovative fundraising products. Your key focus will be on meeting net income targets while ensuring an exceptional experience for our supporters. Reporting to the Fundraising Products Manager and with direct oversight of the Fundraising Products Assistant you'll be driving initiatives to attract, nurture, and retain supporters.

Collaborating closely with colleagues across the community and events teams, you'll contribute to developing new propositions to engage both existing and untapped audiences. Throughout, you'll be encouraged and supported to explore, experiment, and think outside the box.

Responsibilities:

Product and Project Management

• To help plan, deliver and develop portfolio of products, across both virtual events, community and event fundraising disciplines, to achieve KPIs and income targets.
• To project manage and lead on the successful delivery of fundraising products, ensuring clear schedules are in place and internal teams and other stakeholders are briefed and managed appropriately.
• To develop and deliver communication and content plans, maximising engagement from supporters and, in turn, remittance and average gift.

Supporter Care and Stewardship

• To help develop, and lead on the delivery of, effective and engaging cross-channel supporter journeys for participants including, but not limited to, email, social and direct mail, and develop resources, content and materials as required.
• To test and optimise supporter journeys to maximise remittance, average gift and retention, taking recommendations forward to provide the best possible supporter experience and ensure KPIs are met or exceeded.

Marketing and Digital

• To work with the fundraising products manager, internal teams and the community & events marketing team to develop effective marketing activity.
• To help develop approaches and assets, such as content and resources, for products in your care to drive engagement from supporters, remittance and average gift, across a range of channels.
• To work with digital engagement and the community & events marketing team to monitor and report on performance, including the most effective channels, creative and audiences, to help ensure investment is maximised.

About You

Ideally, you will be someone with a real drive and a passion for charity fundraising. Who is digitally focused, driven by insight and understands the importance of great stewardship experience.

You'll have experience in a range of fundraising activities including virtual events. Adept at supporter stewardship and journeys through a variety of channels, such as digital communities, phone, and email. You'll have a proven track record of achieving and exceeding KPIs. As well as being highly organised, comfortable managing projects and if needed the ability to work to tight deadlines
